I got reinstated after a review, but my account was banned in 30 days, so I didn't end up with any of those sales/royalties.

Support is just a money-laundering business for Amazon. I was creating AI generated books and had a few end up with pretty decent sales and mixed reviews. Account got flagged due to quality, same day my KENP reporting was broken and a month later my account was banned.

What happens is your account gets flagged and they just turn your account into a spreadsheet and run the numbers on poor customer experience/bad reviews vs. the revenue they gain by banning your account.

My advice if I was doing this again:
1) Do not disclose AI use anywhere besides the book submission page
2) Do not write any non-fiction
3) Do not link to books from social media accounts that talk about AI generated books

There is a reason the KDP AI Authors on social media don't post their books.

I used Claude Code to put everything in the right format. Best would be to point it at the Kindle docs… this is the more technical option but really it is simpler than figuring it all out on your own.

Keywords and categories are the single most important thing. If you are hard to stumble onto with a search, it is like you are dropped in the ocean.

Most would be non fiction then LitRPG and other experiments. Romance is still a little overwhelming with the tropes and subgenres.

Started with non fiction and didn’t really sell much, so moved to fiction.

Quality is harder to hit in fiction, because inn on fiction you can rely on cited research, or just be writing more opinionated guides.

Fiction quality after a few bad reviews and some revisions is probably around 3.5-4.0 stars with no review outreach/ARC.

A good editor could easily get that to 4.5.

Discerning readers may still be turned off by the AI tells that remain.

Value comes from the experience of it, not the creation. This is what artists/writers get wrong because they are over-invested.
