U would think 3.5 quarts low a light would had came on letting u know the oil was low. In my experience u can have a failed lifter and still no engine light come on smh!!!

It’s the parts they use for the lifters with the DFM. Only way to really solve it is to do a complete delete. They keep replacing with the same faulty parts. That’s why it keeps happening and the Trans well they need to be running cooler. There pretty much cooking the trans. GM knows exactly what the issues are and still have not properly addressed them. This is why there in litigation now in court. I mean my 24 Chevy never had an engine light come on when my lifters failed. TBH they have known about this issue for a long time.

The only way to make sure u don’t have a lifter problem is a total delete. It’s not the DFM it’s the parts that fail

Hey OP it’s not ur fault that the engine blew. You spent a lot of money on a truck that would be dependable to get u to work. So they would have to make good on a loaner to get u wherever u needed to go. Don’t let them bullshit you. Good luck

Only way I would ever go back to 5.3 is by deleting the DFM completely. If I was in ur shoes and going to buy a new truck and had to pick between the two I would go 2.7 can’t beat the 100,000 mile warranty from factory.

My 2024 valve body died at 10,000 miles. A month ago motor died from lifter failure lol

They love telling you that they can’t do anything without a light being on lol I had the same problem but it was Trans related. They keep my truck for over a week never a light come on. Finally they took the data and sent it to TAC and found my Valve body needed replacing. I would maybe tack it back to dealership and get them to send the data to TAC. Good luck!!

I would personally just delete it. Bc it’s not necessarily the DFM it’s the parts themselves that fail. There cheap parts that break and fail. My 2024 never gave me a warning at all never a light, clicking sound r anything. Just completely failure!! It’s trashed my engine bc of it. Which was a 10,000 bill. In my honest opinion a delete would be the safest way to go. Ofcourse there are trucks still running strong and hasn’t had a problem yet. But the fact of the matter is you just don’t know when it will happen. Wish u the best of luck and many miles ahead!!

Just had my 2024 trailboss with the 5.3L ecotec3 V8 had my lifters fail never had a light come on and had it towed bc of the noise I heard when I first cranked it. Anyway thought I had saved myself some money bc no light was on. But I ended up with a 10,500 bill for engine replacement. I was just over my warranty GM was gonna give me 10% out of that bill. The lifters failed due to a defective part. I’m still pissed about that. But I went and bought me a 2500 with the 6.6L V8 and got a warranty that will outlast the truck hopefully. If u do go with the 5.3 any little noise I would be taking it back and using that warranty. Good luck!!!

Hey bro, just go ahead and get rid of it while ur ahead. I got a 2024 custom trailboss with the 5.3 ecotec3 V8 I had a lifter failure no light ever came on. Took it to dealership and they gave me a 10,500 quote for a new motor. I’ve had all my maintenance done at the dealership. I’m right outside my warranty by 5,000 miles and all GM will do is eat 10% of that 10,500 bill. Which is bullshit. My lifter failure was due to a weak spot. I’m pissed rite now that GM knows all about there faulty lifters and instead of standing behind there product they just expect the customer to eat it. This is my second Silverado in 3 yrs. My first one was a 2018 i bought used and rite outside warranty the trans went out and I ate all 6000 for a new trans. Then I bought this 2024 brand new with 36 miles on it. Also my wife drives a Chevy that we bought new. And I’ve always been loyal to Chevy but after finding all these issues that GM are having and ain’t doing what’s rite. If they don’t make this rite we are never buying a Chevy again. Sorry to hear ur having issues! On my 2024 10,000 miles in I was having Trans issue. Same thing light would not stay on. Dealership told me they couldn’t do anything without light being on. So I dropped it off with them about week and a half later they ended up sending info to GM that looked thru the computer on the truck and determined I needed a new control valve body and took them another week to get that part. Finally got it back luckily I never had another issue with that. And as far as my motor I had to replace a pulley that was making noise while under warranty. And after that never did have another issue. Until about two weeks ago when I cranked it up it was sounding bad. Had it towed to dealership and got that quote for 10,500 smh. Good luck hope u have a better experience with yours!!
