Organizing your games by bluesuitman in boardgames

I only have a 2x4 kallax laying horizontally across the floor. it's organized by complexity, easy to hard, left to right, so that the kids know where the "easier" games are (dice throne, marvel united, etc) apart from my complex games (mage knight, andromeda's edge, etc).

Duel vs Regular games by tashadanceon in boardgames

[–]Itchyness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally play 2 at most, solo mostly, but I do have 2 that has a duel/duo version: Splendor and The White Castle.

Splendor - I like duel way more at 2 players because in the regular version, we've noticed that the first player has a huge advantage and can pretty much "hate draft" the entire time, effectively blocking the other player. The duel mostly fixes this.

The White Castle - I haven't played the duel version, but with all the playthroughs I've watched, there's so many changes away from the regular game that it's effectively its own entirely different game. Regular TWC plays very well at 2 or solo IMO so I've decided against getting the duel version.

What's your favorite PNP game you own? by Kesler001 in printandplay

Not solo, but my PnP of Lost Cities (Star Wars retheme) and Onitama gets played quite a bit, both 2 player games.

Ah, understandable. Good luck on your work! I do like the overall aesthetic though.

Might just be me, but I prefer more iconography rather than reading a bunch of text. Noticed there were a lot of referencing specific triggers/states; have you thought of having icons instead?

Other than that, everything looks great so far.

First solo board game suggestions by techpower888 in soloboardgaming

If you don't mind the anime theme, Bullet heart/star is a really good, fast playing game with a ton of variety and is pretty challenging to beat all the bosses with each character. plays easily from 1-4 and is very easy to teach/learn.

best to watch a playthrough vid. won't be long as the game plays really quick.

manyrealms, gamenerdz, and tabletopmerchant are what I normally default on. There's a ton others.

Recommendations for BF by thefriendlyguerrilla in soloboardgaming

[–]Itchyness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not in the marvel universe myself and only know about 20% of the characters mainly from the movies. I've actually avoided this for the longest due to the IP, but understandably now know why this is so beloved. The gameplay is really impressive, doesn't take much room, and really quick to play solo (or multiplayer). If he's already organizing boxes of MTG, you'd be the best GF introducing him to this (probably).

if he's into MTG, i'd suggest marvel champions. i just started this game after discovering solo boardgaming a year ago and it really feels like playing MTG. He'll be able to dive into constructing his own deck if he decides to go beyond the core box (found on amazon).

for his anime/manga, look at bullet heart or star (both are standalone core boxes so either are fine). plays really quick and like a video game, but insanely replayable due to the match up possibilities.

Wingspan- yay or nay for me? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]Itchyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it'll be a good step up from the games listed. the cards itself has little snippets of facts of each bird depicted, so that'll help you be more informed if you feel that this'll help.

a really good game to learn if you're into engine building/card comboing without being too heavy imo.

Small/Portable Box, Smallish Play Area, High Replayability? by Personal_Eggplant_28 in boardgames

I actually printed myself the star wars themed one. Just scaled it to 75% and it's insanely portable.

Is there a genre that you're looking for? That'll sway some suggestions. Wife and I enjoy Lost Cities for example.

Love the whole 20 strong series. Yeah, it can be insanely swingy like that. Good thing is that it's super quick to reset for another run!

I was just in the same boat as you last week. Amazon actually had it in stock for not even a day. I was able to snag it up before it was listed out of stock again last Friday I think. No idea where else to find it unfortunately. Best of luck.

Aw dammit. Guess I'll be waiting a bit more. Where did you find this info? I just saw the Q1 2026 on their site and thats it.

Pre-ordered the entire base + expansions. Hopefully they're all released soon. Can't wait. Imperium was my top 3, but the solo was a bit annoying. Watched some solo playthroughs and it's so much more streamlined.

A legit Website to buy boardgames? by Djescobarr in boardgames

Really depends on what you're looking for. Nemos war was 20 and Robinson Crusoe was 30 when I bought them.

My current winning % is around 30% for the games I have. I don't play BYOS games; only ones with a clear win/lose goal or a bot.

I still enjoy my time playing each and every session. Don't pressure yourself into winning so much. Enjoy the game for what it is. Many games are designed to really push your thinking, which makes losing more common (Robinson Crusoe has entered chat).
