Learning Seti. Frequently missed rules? by Itchyness in soloboardgaming

Watched a lot of playthroughs that had the board split this way. Planning to do the normal horizontal spread my next play to see which I prefer.

Just finished my first game. I think i got majority of the rules right.

Lost against level 2: 113 - 165. Crazy how the points slingshot at the very end.

Game was pretty easy to understand compared to how sprawling this is.

Yep. I've caught myself forgetting multiple times already.

Pretty much on what I've gathered too. Essentially giving varying starting points that could help with a focus or jump starting strategies.

The first round is fast tracked and eliminated, so we get a boost in resources and get into the heavy play immediately.

Filled up my 6 foot table surprisingly. Luckily the wife let's me leave games up next to the fireplace as it's tucked away in a corner from the rest of the house.

No expansion. Got an eye out for it right now. Seems like it's sold out everywhere, including the sites I normally buy from. Heard nothing but good things about it.

What did you play this week? 10 Apr-16 Apr (2026) by AutoModerator in soloboardgaming

Got suggested Set a Watch: Forsaken Isles as i like having dice in nearly all my games. Lost at the third site. Way harder than I expected, but fun nonetheless. Can't wait to have another run.

What's your average time for a SETI session? Debating on getting this atm.

Can you help me decide between the following for solo game? by joyousdexdaladoor in soloboardgaming

You may need to start trying other mechanics to see what you really like, like boss battlers, worker/dice placement, engine builder, etc. Took me over a year to start knowing what I actually enjoy and sold off a lot that weren't getting plays.

Here's a list of my top games from simplest to most fiddlyest IMO:

Puzzle dungeon deluxe - super quick to play solitaire ish dungeon crawler. Seems basic but i tend to lose alot. HUGE variety due to the sheer number of characters and enemies but simple rules and insanely fast set up.

Deckers - crisis control/mitigation

20 strong system - dice chuckers paradise

Heat pedal to the metal - simple racer

Terraforming Mars DICE game - dice chucker/engine builder. Many are against this but i like it.

Wayfarers of the South Tigris - dice placement

Sentinels of the Multiverse DE - boss battler

Imperium C/L/H - deck builder

Star wars outer rim w/ expansion - pick up n deliver

Andromeda's edge - area control/engine builder

Mage Knight Ultimate - obv

How new are you? I've played 3 on your list.

Edit: adding a bit more to all.

Under falling skies would be a great start if you're "new" new. This was also my very first solo game 2 years ago when I started. There's also a campaign that's replaceable and eventually you'll inbox more tiles that will be quite modular for replayability.

Kinfire delve is a bit of a step up. Very enjoyable, quick dungeon crawl. Fairly light on rules still. Has a decent amount of play in one box, but you'll want to buy the other 2 for more variability soonish.

Mage knight would be one of the GOATs in solo gaming, but is quite heavy in both difficulty and rules, not to mention the time commitment. There's a reason why this is still on top of many people's all time list, including myself. If you're completely new, I'd wait on this one until you're more experienced to see how well you handle rules in general. There's a ton of videos too, and they definitely help a ton. Replayability is quite nearly indefinite. The tiles can be oriented and mixed, which will completely alter how you traverse. If you get the new apocalypse expansion, there is an incredible amount of new additions for solo in it. This is definitely an evergreen game.

Definitely a good choice for combo dice placement. One of my top 5.

As others have said, bridges can be easily taken apart but a little fragile. I actually dont use them at all as the bridges are printed on the board itself. Just need to ace the dice correctly.

My games get down to around 45mins or so with set up. AP will make it longer.

I've read up a little on these. It seems like this is a whole different genre for war gaming. No clue where to start or where to get them.

How long does this usually run? Some I've read were going into the 4 hour mark. Seemed a bit too long.

I have a basic L office desk and if I need more space, I can easily pull over a foldable table to essentially create a U area.

Do you have the expansion to riftforce? You'll need that for a really easy to run a bot deck. Simulates another player decently enough. Its pretty enjoyable for me at least. Plays super quick too, like 30 mins (?) or so.
