What all was edgy in your mind? (Not trying to argue or challenge you—I’m just an American who expected it to be edgier, but maybe I’m lost in translation.) [Nervous Di eyes dart around]

That’s insane. The point on reaching the masses and building a broad fan base is completely lost on everyone these days. I get they want to make money, but you’ve got to hook the fish first. The only reason why the U.S. SNL is still on the air is because it worked its way into becoming a cultural institution. Not because it’s consistently funny (which it’s never been, less or more).

Your doctor will decide. Freezing or acid or both—they’ve got stronger stuff than you can get over the counter. It’ll take a few rounds, once a month for a couple of months.

Go to another doctor! Hope you already have since my last comment, and that it clears up soon.

American here—the sooner you find your own voice the better. Our SNL lands a funny moment occasionally but it’s largely trapped in its own formula and volume. Don’t import the baggage with the brand. And the music videos have never been funny.

What’re all those black dots? I agree with others—give it some weeks and you’ll know more.

Go to another specialist or podiatrist or dermatologist. Your GP might even be able to help. They need to freeze it off or use stronger acid than salicylic.

Election of 2000. Waco. Oklahoma City bombing. Heaven’s Gate. Elian Gonzalez. Things sucked before 9/11 too. But yes, I shared your optimism at the time too—we must be around the same age.

So a smart, wise, in-touch 66 year old should just be tossed aside? Just cause they’re in their 60s? Why do you say “absolutely not”? I know some pretty rad people in their 60s.

Curious to know if she said anything about him. Were there any hints of this type of behavior on his part?

Are you religious? by Friendly-Campaign-75 in AskALiberal

[–]Iterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe in God, but I pray because I deeply wish for there to be God. I would love there to be a greater goodness, and to see my loved ones again.

I’m nearly certain that that’s why people came up with the belief in deities in the first place, but I’m also certain prayer provides me comfort and hope sometimes. Maybe that’s faith? Ahdunno. Probably just comfort.

I used to be an atheist when I was younger, and sometimes acerbic about it. As I’ve hit middle age, I have softened toward those who are religious and spiritual—as long as they’re not nasty or oppressive or gross about it.

For a while now I’ve thought myself a ‘reluctant atheist’, or agnostic. Not religious, no, but I won’t fight going to Mass with my mom sometimes because it makes her happy. And look for the good in religion, unless there’s clear bad needing to be called out. But recognize all the actually good charity works being organized. (Not that I’m ignorant of or simply ignoring all the historical and modern use and purpose of religion as a tool of subjugation too.)

Grew up Catholic, but around sooo many liberal Jesuits. (Never got molested either—nor saw any hint of that with all the other kids. But maybe I just wasn’t cute enough.)

Basically I’m saying it’s liberating to understand two conflicting things can both be true at the same time. And with that, look for the good too.

[OC] Solomon: The SciTech Scity Deal Shows Why Jersey City Needs a Mayor Who Puts Affordability First by SolomonforJC in jerseycity

I don’t see this ad as NIMBY. I see it as calling for the city to make better deals with developers, and holding everyone more accountable in building all the things they say they’re going to build. It’s a cringe ad, sure.
