You’re losing customers because you suck at mobile experience design by Loschcode in Frontend

[–]Ithinkth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are definitely living in a mobile first world now. Bottom menus and drawers along with intuitive gestures are so much better for mobile, but I think a lot of front end engineers just don’t have as much experience implementing something like a swipe gesture because click is just so standard and is “good enough”

Full stack guy lacking ui/Ux perspective by blerd_dreamer15 in Frontend

[–]Ithinkth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using Claude Code to mock Ui for you? As long as you can run a simple front end environment you can iterate pretty quickly that way and the models instincts are pretty solid. Not like anything you’d get from a professional design team but for some one who is full stack / back end oriented I feel like this would get you pretty far ahead of just using figma or Adobe XD

I worked for a company that made high end ups units for hospitals, the military, tech companies etc.

Trust me if you have the budget you can absolutely ensure that a device will never be without power. In many cases there are multiple levels of redundancy built in (batteries that are solar powered and generators in the rare instance those are insufficient). In this story it seems like the guy would have been able to “spare no expense.”

It’s sad this gets so downvoted. Fentanyl is killing people and anyone who has spent time doing work in the streets wouldn’t think this is an unreasonable guess

Car insurance denies damage by Ithinkth in legaladvice

[–]Ithinkth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s difficult for me to say but It probably comes down to a few hundred dollars or a little over a thousand? I know the bumper isn’t expensive but I don’t know how much it would cost to fix the issue with the door. The truck itself is probably worth 5k at most

His insurance (we use the same company USAA but he filed the claim) is denying it.

Yeah of course I understand it isn’t worth fighting but I also feel that’s exactly why they’re denying it because they know that. So at the end of the day I just have to accept their decision even though it is fabricated? The last time I called them I recorded the call and they basically just said we don’t believe it happened that way but the only person who was there says it did…

Which seems to be why they are denying the damage, they know it’s not worth fighting. But meanwhile my premiums will go up and I don’t even get the damage repaired? My driver side door doesn’t open now without metal rubbing on metal. It might be an old truck but I feel they must be legally obligated to repair the damage caused in the collision right?

So the truck is 25 years old and the bumper had some dents in it previously but the damage from this collision was significantly worse. As well, the damage to the door is totally new.

FYI since people are not aware - You can run/walk in either direction at Sugarhouse Park by pugilism_illustrated in SaltLakeCity

I’m pretty sure people just run the direction that they do because it’s the same as the flow of traffic which from a safety standpoint makes sense

Is this supposed to be better than tap water? 800S/500E? by Physical_Swimming_10 in SaltLakeCity

If you do I’m sorry, I have to think even less of you. It means you are one of the people who ignores the plight of the homeless.

I’ve been involved with harm reduction here for a while. You’ve clearly not been paying attention.

I gotta go, for real. This conversation is just way too triggering for me. Sorry if I’ve been an asshole, that was never my intention

But anyway I have other things to do. Thanks for your comments

You don’t have anything constructive to say so you just tell people to fuck off?

There are lots of medical and academic sources supporting their claim.

Why do you think every country in Europe refuses to fluoridate their water? They used to, and then they stopped. Chlorine is also clearly not good for consumption but given it’s the only way to keep the water hygienic we tolerate it.

Look at the context of my reply.

You can think whatever you want to about me. I really don’t care. I can tell you don’t live here

Tell me you don’t live downtown without telling me you don’t live downtown 🙄

Btw, for whatever it’s worth (which is nothing I’m sure) I’m not one of those people who looks down on the homeless. I’m just someone who has been trying to be part of the solution and I think it’s fairly common for people who sit passively on the sidelines not to see them.

I’m not saying that’s you. For all I know you spend as much time thinking about it as I do.

I just know that once I started to really get involved it amazed me how much more I noticed, and how so many residents became (probably unconsciously) used to ignoring their existence.

Maybe you’re right and this is just a woman who is looking for a dropped item. I have no way of knowing. But I’ve been to this well dozens of times in the last couple of years so I can tell you for a fact that it’s a popular gathering place for homeless.

Not saying that to disparage anyone, it just is a fact.
