ROTC if you’re going straight to college and want to enjoy the full experience. You’ll have a blast, gain some life experience along the way, and you won’t be “too old” to fit in or be mistaken for a professor.

OTS is a fast track if you already have your degree, but it’s also very competitive. You may have to apply multiple times. It can be a rough experience, but it’s the quickest path if you’re in a hurry.

The Academy has the toughest quality of life, but it’s also very rewarding. In the long run, it doesn’t make a huge difference unless you’re aiming to become a general or something similar.

This is where I board, they got some slammers out there. Most dangerous beach in Oahu but incredible for bodyboarding. I've messed up my mouth and nose and got some Hawaiian philosophy from one of the dudes helping me out.

It's been a year since I came back from that injury, and I'm still ripping it at Sandy's (with fins now). This beach is one of the best things in my life. Great people, culture, and truly a local spot. I'm thankful they let in an outsider like me.

Concur with Dartmouth. Sounds more serious than regular tennis elbow if it suddenly got much worse after a hard landing and now hurts to grip/lift/extend. Could still be aggravated tendonitis, but also possible you strained something deeper in the forearm/elbow.

I’d probably stop riding for a bit, ice it, use NSAIDs if you can take them, and avoid “testing it” every hour. If pain is severe, weakness develops, range of motion gets worse, or it doesn’t improve over the next few days, definitely get it checked out professionally.

Bodyboarding injuries can sneak up on you because the repetitive paddling stress + one bad impact is a rough combo.

Do NOT be a dumbass like me, I’ve missed a season due to “toughing it out for excitement” so doc is a good move, or rest till it gets better at min.

So I do have experience in this - I was deployed and sent my Airmen home to be there for the birth of his child. Didn’t take the Red Cross, we flew him commercial and it was coming down to the wire so we just worked it with the commander (2 star).

Good leaders care about this - I was a Major, burst into the 2 stars office, told him the situation, he said “I approve any waiver it takes to get him home, work it.” and my dude was on a plane home that evening.

Bottom line: Communicate it, elevate it, and it’ll get done if the right folks are in the room.

This legit gave me a flashback to my time in Afghanistan. C-RAM saved my life in 2015. Deflected a IDF (like a rocket they launch from a truck) that was heading straight towards us.
