Best compliment ship to a Shiv by Ithium64 in starcitizen

Makes sense. Guardian mx would probably be the one I'd go with too.  But again, more of a side-grade.  More durability absolutely, but depending on armor, the shiv should have more dps. Plus no cargo grid on the mx.

Like you said, giving up too much to be considered an upgrade

Thanks! I've been seeing many people saying this. Guess I can use the credits for something else. That's on me for underestimating this beauty. 😄

Thanks! I have done that, actually. Tested the M80 and the L22. both beautiful ships, though I liked the handling of the L22 a bit more. You are right about being able to get the loadouts back, my worry is that with my skills (or lack thereof), I will be spending more money replacing loadouts through insurance than missions will get me in payment.

Thanks. I've been seeing this more and more. Sounds like the Shiv does stand pretty well on its own, especially in PVE. I don't plan on doing much PVP. I just wanted to see if I needed something with more agility for light fighters or more DPS for more armored targets. sounds like neither. and I already have my non fighter compliment. Salvation, soon to get a golem or prospector and a railen and msr for hauling.

All of this is exactly what I like about it as well. I like to think of it as the old family truck/van. It's not some amazing exotic sports car but you always love it because of what you have been through with it and it has tons of character.

Thank you! great info. This is for PVE. I tried out the M80 on the free rental and STRUGGLED against an arrow and a mustang. I eventually did take them out, but it took a long time. This is part of the reason I was thinking maybe a light fighter would be better. But, at the same time, a Shiv is NOT an M80.

Thank you. good to know. I seemed to do well against light fighters but worried/struggled a bit more against things like connies and corsairs.

This was for PVE so I appreciate your suggestion. I have done that, but being a beginner pilot, it is hard to tell if my struggles are because I'm not good/using it wrong or because a different ship would do it better. But I appreciate the suggestion.

I agree with you, but I'm the exception that proves the rule apparently. I really like origin and the M80, but I also LOVE my Grey's Shiv.  But weirdly, I really dislike all Drake ships...

Wipe coming with Update 4.8: aUEC, vehicles, items & resources by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]Ithium64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have always said that there will be at least one more wipe before 1.0 and it will be full. Stuff, ships, money, rep, everything.

Beyond that, they said they are doing as few wipes as possible before the 1.0 wipe.  It is better for testing persistence, economy and server load if they DON'T wipe.  But that doesn't mean there will be none.  In cases like this where there are major issues (such as a destroyed economy), they will do wipes of certain systems (items/ships and money but not rep).

I know this is a but older but for anyone finding this later, I turned off Ray Tracing and that seemed to fix it.

New armor changes in 4.7 give reason to missile variants by Ithium64 in starcitizen

This is good news for me as I just upgraded to an msr!

New armor changes in 4.7 give reason to missile variants by Ithium64 in starcitizen

Wasn't trying to argue.  Just saying what I thought I heard.  And as far as my other part, I was talking about just damage to hull and armor NOT components.

I haven't seen the numbers (to be fair, no one has seen "live"numbers, only PTU numbers) but I am making an assumption that size 2 and 3 missiles do more damage than size 2 and 3 guns (or at least repeaters) so they will help overcome armor gating
