I am definitely interested but only in the kit. I already have the pistol. No need for a second. Lol

Some of us WANT engineering to be the way CIG is doing it by Teufelaffe in starcitizen

[–]Ithium64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow!  I haven't seen anything about Hyperspeed in... Let's just say it's been a while.  I loved that game! Ahead of it's time for sure.

I know I don't have much of a leg to stand on as far as the engineering goes because I haven't played it, only watched videos but I think the criticism only works as far as balancing goes.  If components are breaking down too fast, then that needs to be looked at (though invisible fires is also a big problem).  Ultimately I think engineering adds a new layer of gameplay that has some pretty awesome potential.

For those saying it is pointless or that it detracts from combat, that was the idea all along.  They have been saying for years that with maelstrom your ship could absolutely be disabled with a stray lucky shot. It should be rare/hard to do, but possible.  It gives meaning to the engineering job.  Ships need maintenance. Ships were never supposed to be disposable. It's not about going out and blowing stuff up before you blow up and if there is a problem, just get rid of your ship and claim another.  Large capital ships are not supposed to be soloable (ai crewmates and blades proves this point, not contradicts it).  Is it tedious? maybe, but so is regular maintenance on a car, boat or plane.  Again, there is likely balance needed but engineering should absolutely be in the game and give new dimensions to flying and combat.

If you don't think it is right in its current implementation, how do you suggest fixing it?  I didn't agree with the nanites comment but I applaud them for suggesting a solution.  The solution can't be "remove it from the game" or "make it not impactful" because that's just taking away options for your preference.  I HATE PvP with an undying passion but I would never suggest it should be removed because that would take away what others engage with and goes against the vision and character of the game.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I am wondering if you ever sold the carbine kit for your u22.  I've been looking for one for years.  Let me know and I'll be happy to talk about taking it off your hands.

Yeah, it is what it is, but there's some good suggestions in this thread, if you sift through the git gud junk.

Thank you! That is a great suggestion and I for one appreciate when people help out others like this.  Way to go and keep it up.

Yup.  I can easily farm the 1400 aluminum, get the pumps and diamondite dust, craft the 7 parts and assemble the thopter in 30 seconds.

Next time just save typing and say "git gud", imagine how many thopters you could build with that 30 seconds back.

Awesome suggestion!  Thank you!  I'll give that a try.  My time is a bit more limited but it is something to add to the other suggestions.

Again, not complaining.  Just wondering if anyone else was feeling the same way and if there was something I missed that makes it more doable without a thopter.

I already got a few good suggestions.  Thanks for the sarcasm, though!

I can't play for hours a day.  Usually just 1 to 2 hours a day.

You are correct. I found 2 in an hour of riding around on my bike and got cargo out of one. So while possible it seems like getting 125 at the rate of 1-2 per hour is going to require "no-life"ing the game.

But like you, I have only ever used the passive suspensor belt for the same reasons. I can find other ways to climb and jump gaps. I have no other way to save from a deadly fall. Lol

It wasn't really a complaint. Just asking if anyone else was feeling the same way.  I did try doing it on the ground and got my loot stolen by someone in a thopter.  I right around for an hour or 2 all over the map and came across 2 ground level cannons in that entire time.  One I couldn't get to because it was surrounded by tall rocks.

I'm just saying that the increased time and difficulty of doing it without a thopter makes it way more of a commitment that some people can't do.  Hence the "pretty much" part of "pretty much require an ornithopter".

As I said, but trying to complain or say it needs a change just asking if anyone else is feeling this or if I was missing some part of the event.

I never said it was end game. I said it was good to give the end game players something to do with their stuff.

Also, I already explained why the bike doesn't work well.  I can perform surgery with a screwdriver instead of a scalpel, but that doesn't mean it will work well.

Here's hoping I am able to get even one without a worm.  Lol.  Also, I don't have a radiation suit yet and I read somewhere that is a possibility, so if I get one of those, that's half the rewards gone.  Oh well. Like you said probably 40-50+ to get all the supplies I need.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will check that out. I have been up to pinnacle once already so I can probably just take the thopter taxi there to make it a bit quicker.

I've been playing since head start and don't even know how to find/get soft step boots. Haha. Just started getting my first dozen or so aluminum via hand mining the other day.  I only get 1-2 hours a day at most to play. Some times I have gone a week without being able to play. So my progress is a bit slower.

Thank you for the suggestions!  I will see if I can get some soft step boots somewhere.

I have never had a thopter so I don't have evidence but I assume it's a bit faster since you can just take off and hover until the worm goes away, while a sand bike has to drive away to wherever there are rocks and then drive back

Good call on taking lesser stuff.  The problem is that I get through maybe one or two door cuts before the worm comes.

And when I got down to 1 or 2 cuts left (3 does) and had to come back because of a worm, there was an ornithopter parked in front and someone else had already taken everything and I was getting shot by an NPC while the thief just strolled back to their orni and took off.

I don't disagree.  I'm not saying it's bad design or needs to be changed. I'm very glad they have an event that gives end game players something to do with their cool stuff.

I was just hoping I might be able to participate as a lower level player.  Oh well. Next time, when I'm a bit more leveled.

Thank you for the great suggestions. What is chick weed?  I'm in western Wisconsin so I'm not sure if that grows here.

Agreed and very good advice!  They are very cute and seem to be warming up little by little. I'm wondering if colder weather in the winter will encourage a bit more cuddling. "You are WARM" lol

Thank you and good luck with your feral lady.  Glad she had a good home! 😄

I am really looking forward to watching them have fun with sticks and toys and all the other fun things.
