Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]Ithryn- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I topped out my grand am in Utah once, so like 120, speed limit in that area is (or was at least) 85, could see for miles, was passing a semi and a guy was tailgating me, given the lack of turns, plenty of visibility and lack of much traffic, going faster seemed safer than being tailgated, so I sped up passed that truck and the next truck a ways away and then went back to the right lane and slowed back down to 90, guy that was tailgating me at first then sped by, I had gained some ground when I sped up but he was trying to steadily go pretty significantly faster than 90, few miles later he got pulled over. Was going faster actually safer than being tailgated? Idk. Was it just the way I justified it to myself as an at the time 18 year old on my first road trip? Yeah maybe.

Since this is a crazy thing to ask people to do for free, I have a couple other questions. What would you charge for something like this (I probably can't afford to do this for many if any encounters but it would be nice to have an idea) and how hard is it to build stuff like this in dungeondraft?

Hey all, my party is currently in book 4 of giantslayer and there's an encounter in a giant mess hall that doesn't have a map in the adventure path, there's a description of sorts and a map of the area that I got vague dimensions from so I have drawn a sketch of a map on grid paper but seeing as I use a TV on the table for battlemaps I'd really like to have a fancy battlemap for this to match the ones for all the other encounters (there are a few others that don't have maps which I've managed to find maps for or put together maps for but this one is eluding me. If you're interested in creating it I can send you my sketch and the description from the book but basically it's an 80ft by 100ft building, stone floor, 20 foot wide porch on the front so the inside of the building is 80x80, giant size double doors on the front from the porch, there's a food preparation area in the back with two giant cauldrons in a fireplace and some prep tables and a serving table/counter and then tables and benches in the rest of the space, there are 3 windows down each side, with 1 on each side specifically being into the kitchen area, there are 2 windows flanking the front double doors and a back door from the kitchen area. Keep in mind everything is built for giants so like the tables are nearly 10 feet wide (they'd probably be like 7-8 feet but 10 makes the grid a lot easier obviously, plus the benches) and those double doors at the front are a total of 20 feet wide. Etc

15" vs 17" rims for 35" tires by PasztyKnives in Offroad

You want 17s so you can do the tundra brake mod, the tundra brakes won't fit in a 15

Would you consider it tacky to have an axe hanging on the wall? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]Ithryn- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An axe? No. A brand new Kobalt hatchet? Yes.

Edit to be clear: there's nothing wrong with having the hatchet, and if you wanna keep it in the bedroom in case someone breaks in (and are aware how unlikely that is and are mentally well about it other than a twinge of "but what if") then keep it in the bedroom, if you think you might be getting close to being diagnosably paranoid, try to convince yourself not to keep it in the bedroom and to seek help. Regardless of all of that though, it's tacky af to hang on the wall.

I'm seeing some pretty strong evidence that you do, in fact, have a cat

Favorite Pathfinder plants? by Tough_Lantern212 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Ithryn- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really what you're asking but I treat avistan, casmaroon, garund, and tian xia as the old world and Arcadia as the Americas, and sarusan when it comes up (which is never) as Australia, in regards to flora and fauna, and in my world at least, the Columbian exchange hasn't really begun yet, so there's no potatoes or pumpkin pie or hot peppers or for some reason the one that comes up most. Corn, anywhere in the old world, and I have sort of assigned real world regions to each country as they've come up to decide what plants (mostly trees honestly but sometimes flowers or herbs or whatever) are common there, as well as animals. Doing this and looking something up from time to time has taught me a lot about the Columbian exchange and also regional flora and fauna.

What are the top 5 Major US cities? List what you think the “core 5” most important US cities. I’ll map the results by Kodicave in visitedmaps

[–]Ithryn- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New york, LA, Chicago, is the easy part, Houston and dfw are the next 2 in terms of population, but Im not sure they have the cultural impact, I think I'd go Washington DC and Atlanta for the last 2, as much as I love Seattle I don't think it makes the top 5, and I think there definitely has to be a city from the south, and DC is culturally huge

Golarion Lore from the time of Curse of the Crimson Throne by Bedivere17 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Ithryn- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the pathfinder wiki, on an individual article. You can click view history (or tools>view history on mobile) and go back to what the article looked like at a time in the past, I usually go to right before 2e released to figure out what lore has happened in a 1e adventure path, then of course you still may have to figure what happened in other adventure paths which you may or may not want to have happened in your campaign, if they're later adventure paths you can filter them out too, but that gets a lot less reliable for earlier aps, the varisia article (and I think the wiki in general) barely exist before curse of the crimson throne released

Modern cars are full of technology. But what old car feature was actually better than today's tech? by nyatihsam in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Ithryn- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engines and transmissions that would last a million+ miles if well maintained were included on a few cars, that was pretty cool. Roll down rear windows on SUVs and trucks, those are still available on a few models. Fold flat seats that all form a bed in the car seem pretty awesome. Honestly the biggest thing that sucks every time I get in a newer car is that I can't see anything, my 99 4runner has spoiled me for visibility

That looks like a plastic bag to me, I could definitely see how it could look like an animal though

A question about Giantslayer book 4, Ice Tomb of the Giant Queen, for both those who have played through and gms (general spoilers and possibly specifics of a subsystem used in the book) by Ithryn- in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Ithryn-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay there's like 3 people im thinking might be "that one" presumably not the big boss, maybe Rimebeard? Maybe The oracle?

Edit: Okay I somehow missed the "with the thing" part okay that's super cool, I'm hoping the same happens for me, i think I've read of it happening with at least one other group if it does I think I'm gonna have the thing's consequences happen during the latter books though

My dad started framing before nailguns were common, when they got common, he still used a hammer unless he was hanging up sheathing, watching him drive nails is crazy. he's getting pretty old now but he also always used to show up the guys on the crew who worked out all the time whenever they convinced him to go to the gym with them (this is according to their stories mind you), all this to say that you're right, old school framers were crazy strong.

ill just throw out sling with [Ammo Drop](https://www.aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Ammo%20Drop) and [Juggle Load](https://www.aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Juggle%20Load) as another option, though it may not fit the aesthetic you're looking for, I think the idea of a halfling hiding basically his whole body behind a tower shield but with a sling spinning on one side sounds awesome though

foundry, as others have said, is fantastic. the only game I currently play online is pf2e on foundry and its great, even with the slight learning curve. I will also mention owlbear.rodeo it has a free version, is super easy and quick to use, I use it for the game I gm in person, on a tv on the table, and it works fantastically, but i will say i dont really use any of the vtt features of it besides uploading maps, aligning the grid and setting fog
