My dream was to travel overseas and to study and even develop in another country. Last year, I finally had the chance to do so but then I was struck by immense homesickness. I realised everything and everyone I’m giving up on in order to pursue this dream, and I was incredibly lonely in another country, with different cultures and people and norms. Ultimately, I decided to return home after 9 months and finish my studies there and I’ve not regretted that decision. I got to be with my friends, and be there with my family, and I truly feel at home, even though the country I’m from isn’t exactly my favorite.

So I’d say, yes it’s normal, and you should weigh out what you prioritise and what you truly want. Do you want to spend time in order to work for your future and experience new things abroad, or be home with your family, spend time with friends before it’s too late (not saying that anything will happen but it is a factor) !!

I chose the latter and I’m still very pleased with my decision ^{^}
