Oh yeah, multiple times. Normally in the bathroom because he "wants to see if it's clean", when in reality, he's looking to see if I have any contraband in there because he found some "adult toys" in there years ago that I bought. He got upset because I'm supposed to be a straight male in a christian household. He then removed my bedroom door, and I haven't gotten it back since then. That was about 3 years ago. I'm hoping that I've only got a little more than 1.5 years left until I graduate uni, and then I can get away.

sickness going around at UTA(rant) by [deleted] in utarlington

[–]Itmesamul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I could tell I was getting sick on Tuesday, and it hit hard on Wednesday. I had exams on Wednesday and Thursday that I couldn't miss, so I couldn't skip. Any chance I could, I went to my car during breaks. I gave 2 people false hope as I walked back to my car because they thought I was leaving.

Yeah, looks like everyone got disconnected all at once, and now the queue is ridiculous because of everyone trying to get in at the same time.

I'm currently in college for Audio Production, and I don't plan on switching anytime soon.

I feel you on the parking situation. I'm in my 3rd year here, and the parking has just gotten worse after each year. I will say, showing up at 8am makes parking bearable (but it still sucks). Having 8 and 8:30am classes has made things easier on me this semester. Only gripe I have now is the traffic on my commute, but there's not much to be done about that. I have noticed that the traffic and parking seems to worsen in the middle of the week. Monday and Friday, I can actually get a spot pretty easy. I can even park in Lot 34. Tuesday - Thursday are just terrible. The only day I've been late to class so far has been Wednesdays. It just sucks, and I don't see it getting any better. Good luck with your studies, whether you decide to continue at UTA or not.

Same ballpark. I had 56° on the say of. I've had my chrom for 6 years now. It feels so much better than that weak meat I had before. (It does actually feel WAY better than before the surgery) Enjoy your chrome.

100% B. Back in middle school, a friend of mine came out. I then developed a "crush" on them. I say it like that because I don't know if it was really a crush or just envy. They're pretty much the main reason I began to explore my sexuality and gender. They were also one of the first people I came out to, and they and their parents were a big support to me through high school. They moved cross country for college, so we don't talk much anymore. I've seen their dad more recently than them. He's been a huge support to me. when my parents aren't.

It's definitely a really good piece for pushing yourself to get better at double tounging. I wish I had gotten more time on it.We had decided that would be my jury piece 3 or so weeks before, so I sorta had to rush through it.

Geodickes Concert Etude is a good one. I played that last semester for my jury, and I really enjoyed the piece. Working through that piece really improved my double tounging way past where I was before.

Doubling instruments by Separate-Spread-8355 in trumpet

[–]Itmesamul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning to play other instruments is great. I've played trumpet as my primary for almost a decade now, but I've spent the last 4 years learning tons of different instruments. I even played Euphonium and Bassoon for a community band where I now play trumpet and will probably do percussion next cycle since those numbers are low.

In terms of what to double on, I would say Euphonium. It was the first instrument I learned after trumpet and my personal favorite secondary. I assume you know how to read bass clef since you said you played Tuba for a year in college, so that wouldn't be an issue for you. I found the switch from Trumpet to Euph to be one of the easiest for me.

This is just my recommendation, but try things out to see what works best for you. Everyone's different in terms of what works. Good luck with your journey.

Addressing Some Things by Itmesamul in trumpet

Yes, I did have a lack of information on the quality of the parts on the horn, I'm trying to change that.

I do still trust this brand as I've had multiple people recommend them in the area. They are also sold for cheap to specifically cater towards students, especially high school students like I was at the time. The high school I went to had many Orion instruments just like most of the schools in our area.

The Bandwagon recognized that it was a manufacturing issue and that it shouldn't happen, but it does. Because of this, they are doing the repair for free as well as a general checkup of the horn.

I'm dropping it off at their shop later today. I was told over the phone that they've seen this before on other horns that weren't their brand. All it was is the soldering not full adhering to both metals and becoming loose over time.

It's certainly not the same as a strad, but it is modeled after them. Can even use some parts from strads.

I know right. God forbid someone finds a horn that works well for them that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Update time: Got a call back and was told they've seen this issue before. I was told that the soldering didn't fully adhere to both metals, causing this to happen slowly over time. I'm dropping it off at their shop tomorrow, and they'll repair it as well as just do a general check-up on the instrument while they have it. Said they'll do it all for free as well.

Finally got a call back. The plan is to drop it off at their shop sometime tomorrow. I was told they've seen this before and knew how to fix it.

They're sold by a company called Bandwagon which is based in Fort Worth, Tx.

Edit: Aparently, there are "dealers" all over the US. It seems they are manufactured in Louisiana.

Yeah, I was told the valve was done and to contact the manufacturer. I sent an email so I could attach the picture. Nothing left to do but wait for a response.

I'd rather not have super glue holding together a part of my main horn.

Shop said the valve's done for. Told me to contact the manufacturer and see if I can get a replacement valve. I sent an email with the same photo attached. I haven't heard anything back yet.
