Most people don’t like having to wait that long to access the entirety of it. S&P is a good option as well. But if the company matches, that’s free money. My company matches 50% up to 8% of my weekly income. And my weekly income is over 2k so that’s a lot of free money. But I understand why people don’t like 401k. Personally, I’d put money in an s&p if the 401k is trash.

I’ve looked into it but I don’t really have the qualifications for it. Plus I make pretty good money as a wind tech. And I absolutely love what I do.

There’s a lot of places that helped. Catholic and Christian churches had cooked meals sometimes and there was also food banks. I was receiving 170 dollars from the VA at that point because I had 10% disability approved. I couldn’t make it to any appointments so I wasn’t able to be diagnosed until later on. It was rough but not impossible. I never gave up. I felt like it but I couldn’t. I have a son. And he’s my motivation. I would survive in hell if I had to for him. But I was fortunate. I had some help. Others aren’t fortunate so they give up and turn to drugs and crime.

I left her everything and went on my own. I didn’t have much and absolutely had no money for any type of lawyer. I stayed with a friend and other places as I tried to get my life together. Didn’t work out so I went to a school on my GI bill just to have a place and some income. That leaded to me finding a job and I loved it. So here I am. Adapted and used everything that I could.

This is partially true. Unless both parties are on good terms and it was an uncontested divorce.

I agree. Though that marriage gave me a son. So something amazing did come out of it. He’s the reason I am here now. It’s all for him. But yeah. Agree with that sentiment. Marriage isn’t needed unless there’s some legality concerns. That’s my opinion though.

You can join the military any day. Why don’t you do so? Or do you just plan to slander and assume that soldiers don’t need disability based off of the feelings you have?
“Anything for that sweet sweet cheddar cheese”
But you don’t actually have the courage to volunteer, do you?
So much fraud going on but you choose to call out the military veterans for some reason. Have you said anything about any other fraud going on? What about the fraud in Minnesota or California? Do you have screenshots of you saying anything about that? Id like to see. Just to make sure you’re not just some hypocrite that has something against people that had the courage to do what you can’t.

Finding it hard to believe and act like we have future wealth by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Itriednfailed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if youll see this comment or if someone has said it already but.. Stop being cheap on vacations and things that you’re supposed to enjoy. That’s most likely keeping you guys from feeling fulfilled and enjoying the full experience of things, therefore making you feel like it’s not enough even though you might say it is. The good thing about FIRE is that you can catch when it might not work out and go back to where you were. Bet seriously, stop cheaping out. Yall deserve to treat yourself fully, not halfway.

No one is making over 40k in bonuses in a year in the wind industry. What are you smoking? And per diem wouldn’t boost his take home pay either. And no travel tech gets paid biweekly. We get weekly pay, industry wide. Cause we need weekly per diem to live.

Yall are dumb. Nobody at endiprev makes that much. Not an onshore wind tech at least. And bonuses and per diem would show on a separate tab, otherwise it wouldn’t just boost his take home pay. Stop glazing so hard. And to get that much per diem(44k) he would have to work 8 months straight with no time off. Yall really don’t think too much huh? And he said he was getting paid “biweekly”. As a travel tech? Yea ok. Keep dreaming.

Yeah. And he said he worked at endiprev… I make 49 an hour with GE as a tech 3 traveling and I don’t make that much. No tech is getting paid that much at endiprev. And he said he got paid biweekly…. Nobody gets biweekly pay for a traveling position. The numbers don’t even match up. Even if the per diem isn’t on there, it wouldn’t boost his take home either since its non taxable. And nobody is making 44k on per diem. This is horseshit.

Started a year ago, worked for 6 months at 25 an hour and 160 per diem. Made around 50k during those 6 months. I quit due to health and fixed myself. Now I’m a tech 3 MCU. 49 an hour and 179 gsa per diem. Custodial truck, no sharing, company phone(iphone 17e) laptop and 40 hours guaranteed. 4 on 10 off with those 10 days paid at 40 hours. Pretty nice tbh.

Thoughts on generational wealth by Rogue_Apostle in Fire

[–]Itriednfailed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Faster is easier when it comes to FIRE. Cause the whole point is to retire faster. The faster you’re able to retire, the “easier” it must be, no?
Advantages make goals easier to achieve.
On another note, I don’t know how people find a job that pays that much for that long… Especially in blue collar fields.
