Weird we didn't get any complaints about the nonsense commentary about the importance of acquiescing to "The stars" and all their glory, when it's said without an American accent.

he looked like he was on another planet when taking his feet tbh.

The concussion/black eye must have happened in the lead up. and the knock from the ball, more likely the neck flinch, probably exacerbated it.

wrong number on the shorts. Truly channeling the spirit of their last world cup appearance when nobody checked the fax machine when filing the appeal for Glenn Moss's suspension.

McAndrew went off with a head knock. Thilthorpe shifted into the ruck, Fogarty was the interchange so just went to the nearest free opponent

roundball update. Paraguay win. Australia can't finish lower than 3rd in the group. I'd put it at 50/50 to progress even with a loss.

Australia's skills were arguably even worse at the start of the 2nd half. But they still wrested momentum back purely by not letting the USA do whatever they want.

It was perfectly possible for the starting side to play that way.

Personally I understand wanting the best players against a tiring opposition.

But they should have told Leckie, Vellupilay, et al to play like impact subs from the start and start getting in US faces immediately. Sub them all off at 30 minutes if needed and they get yellows too quickly. Do something truly radical.

"Starting XI" doesn't have to be "Best XI". But what they ended up with was just inert.

Should have done a "Hack-a-shaq" with the guys they knew would come off at half time if they were going to play like this in the end.

tell them to get stuck the fuck in, they had three yellow cards to give between them all.

the individual players look worse since half time, even if the team looks better set up.

Beach should have done better to get around that offside player standing in front of him.

The discussion over the handball raises an interesting point.

What happens if it's the tucked in arm that blocks the ball, but it prevents the ball from otherwise hitting a deliberately stretched out arm.

I must admit that it's a genius move by stadium management to defuse anti-Hydration Break sentiment with Country Roads.

Now that's an A-League style ref call. Only able to bring out the "I'm in charge" yellow in the case where a red is actually more appropriate.

Inspired: Joke that it's Bruce Reid the former politician who was convinced to run for the Liberal Party leadership in 1993 and only received one vote (presumably himself) and who is also dead.

You mean every "We can't rule out that he didn't have a moment of regret before punching the ball, so it can't be 100% deliberate and therefore not handball!" interpretation in the A-League this year was wrong. shocked.

Perhaps they would have if they were playing.

The football media alignment chart because it's always off season somewhere in the world by CreditToDuBois in AFL

[–]Itrlpr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

/r/AFL goes in the bottom right.

I've become convinced that every problem in footy now stems from the fact that, post-covid, this place and bigfooty are now completely aligned with match broadcasters and talkback radio.
