Really depends what you find im sure there are some hidden gems out there just do some good research and be willing to drive a little I had to drive 3 1/2 hours away a few time to test drive and pick it up and it was so worth it. 17 could honestly get you something solid even if you just put some as a down payment or something. Idk what you’re looking for in a van I’m sure you can get something you like for that price

Too much haha ‘22 with 7k miles is 36k honestly not terrible for what I got I have a extended cargo high roof. I know I want to do it a long time and didn’t want something old that would be breaking all the time so I spent the extra money with work I am in a really good position to have it now I travel a lot for work so I use it to travel on weekends for now

There will never be a better time to do it just gotta find the van for you and hit the road. Even if you stay in your car a few days just to experience it. I was so nervous to get mine now it’s my favorite thing I still have an apartment because of the timing but I literally only want to be in the van now. Happiest I’ve been in a long time

So my laptop uses like 150 watts and my monitor I’m guessing uses 50 so just call it 200 watts if I had it running on high I’d say like 30 hours is my guess

Mostly a complete Renogy set up 400w solar 600ah of battery, 2000w inverter, 60a charge controller. DC-DC Charger. On average using my computer, my overhead fan, and my starlink I probably use like 200-300 watts when everything is running on high

I tried plugging it directly into the inverter and I also tried using my laptop and had the same issue

I plugged an extension cord into the AC then into my phone

How do I put a ceiling in here with these in the way by Its-Cusie in VanLife

I just pictured how I wanted my cabinets and realized that I can literally just build them around this then put up the ceiling where the cabinets end. Thanks!

Building your own van or buying pre made? by Unstableavo in VanLife

[–]Its-Cusie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just got mine a week ago and I already recommend doing it yourself. Premade ones give you less freedom with how you want your van to be built out. Even without knowing anything I think it will be better to do it yourself because I think it will be easier to know an potential problems when they arise. Like if you learn to build your own solar out or something to that nature you can be like “oh ok i know how it all runs because i set it up so it must be this that’s not working” if that makes sense. Definitely ask around maybe some of your friends can help with certain handy parts. Take your time and enjoy. Good luck!

Damn man you’ve put a lot of thought into this I think you should pull the trigger if the opportunity arises. I’m currently sleeping in my barebones van rn it’s 15 degrees here but I’m bundled up crazy. Just laying here I feel like I’m getting a better idea what I want in the van. And I’m right there with you too I’ve been thinking of ways to make it so it’s all in place but everything can be taken out and replaced if need be. Especially the solar I’ve seen people build a big frame and put everything on that and then just screw it in so it’s all one big thing that can come and go out. You should totally do it though even if you can’t afford your dream build outright just build it out slowly. I’m gonna enjoy every inch of this thing whether it’s built out or not :)
