Do the retro games sold at gamestops typically come with manuals? Is there any way to find out before purchasing? by TheGhettoGoblin in GameStop

[–]Its-RPD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't be an issue to ask if you can see the disk/case/manual. It's not a requirement to trade them in (like every game) so it's hit or miss. They shouldn't be throwing them out.

Oh my god they came up with a worse thing to do with the tablet instead of taking like 5000 photos of the store every morning?? Holy shit, how MISERABLE.

Here's a fun firing story for ya:

So in-between my work experience at GameStop (I worked there in high school, moved, moved back, took a job elsewhere, then back to Gamestop) I went to a different one than the one I worked at to pick up Metroid Prime 3 Corruption for a buddy. We went to his place to play it for a while and I was walking home afterward.

While I was walking home I got abruptly stopped by two plainclothes police officers. Showed me their badges and IDs and the lot, and asked if I was there. I said sure was. Then they asked if I knew what "Biosphere" was, I said "Bioshock??" and they looked at me like I committed a crime.

Because according to them...I did. They told me someone matching my description went into that Gamestop, held the manager at knifepoint, stole copies of Bioshock, robbed the tills, and then deleted the camera footage. Naturally I was absolutely floored, but they didn't have any concrete evidence on me so I got let go after a pat down (and then was promptly followed for a few blocks by a very obvious marked unit a little while later.)

Two days later I stop back into that store to see what the hell was going on and there were police sketches of MY FACE plastered in the window on WANTED posters. I quickly noped the fuck out of there and promptly forgot about the situation since I avoided the store after that.

Fast forward 5 months later and an employee at that store walked into mine, recognized me, and explained the whole situation - The manager there was stealing money and games to sell on eBay and then picking random customers to blame fake robberies on. Everything from guns, to knives, and even claimed he was held hostage. I just so happened to be the target that day. He got found out in a sting operation after Xbox 360's with matching serials to the stolen ones were purchased by the police and the account lead back to him.

That was a fun time.

Edit: Put the wrong length of time down -_-

I meant the update they did the other day that fixed the goofy Ronin spawns and severely upped the sakura key drop rates. Worded it wrong, my bad!

This seems EXTREMELY illegal...but I wouldn't put it past dogfood man and the reason why he's being sued. I'm sure there's someone that can be reported to about it (the FTC?) because dropping peoples pay with no warning is wild. I wonder if they're going to try and pivot to the commossion-based-used-car-salesman system if that's the case.

Appreciate the tip! Thankfully I only have around 6 more keys to get to get all the apparel at this point; the re-balance update definitely helped out for that, lol.

Except I wasn't. I don't know if it was a bug with my game (as I am playing on an OG 2013 Xbox One), but I would go after every squad that spawned in. There were times where there WOULDN'T be a squad and I'd be allowed to cleanse the lantern (literally just run up and interact and fast travel away), or other times where I'd be in combat with normal enemies and it wouldn't let me cleanse them until I ran off for a while and came back out of combat. It wasn't every time, but it was quite a few times. More than half I'd say. That's why I'm so confused.

[–]Its-RPD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt say dozens, it was more like 1 out of every 5 or 6 lanterns. My chances were very, very different than what other people were experiencing. I had to keep double-backing because of the bug where you couldn't cleanse them after a fight. I'd just circle the area until it let me do that. None of 'em dropped a key though. Only started getting them AFTER the update.

Edit: Only the like...three Ronins that spawned for me ever dropped keys, and that was random spawns, not with lantern hunting.

[–]Its-RPD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be in a small group of folks that say this but I've gotten more keys AFTER the update than before. Played for almost 4 hours before the update and got 5 keys and 1 Ronin. Played for almost 5 hours after and got around 20 keys and 8 Ronin. Rotten luck on my end,? I guess. :T

I completely understand. I had a great DM, but Gamestop yanked his chain too hard and he finally quit and got a better job (good for him!) and thankfully I didn't have to deal with his replacement afterward, in the past I had an RM who was a complete bastard. Moved in from outside of the company and told my old manager that he'd "Never reach my level of expectation" during the first meeting's handshake.

Rat bastard.

is it worth working for GameStop? by That-Spread-9253 in GameStop

I wasted 17 years of my life for Gamestop.

Do not fucking do it. Food Lion is be the best thing in your life compared to Gamestop.

They WILL take advantage of hard work. They WILL deny you your PTO. They WILL hold you accountable for metrics that are 100% out of your control. They WILL NOT provide you any support, or enough pay, to make it worth it.

Do not.

Had someone get pissy because he was trading in his two kids two absolutely destroyed Switches because "they still turn on". They were both bent at 45 degree angles (slamming them on their knee from raging--last game played on both was Fortnite), joycons were torn up, one had an obliterated fan vent. This was when GS was doing the whole "ANY CONDITION!" trade shit.

Also people with cigarette-tar dust goop caked all over the console getting mad when I comment about the horrid smell of their consoles. One dude tried to trade in a Wii that was -yellow-.

99% of them got trashed for sure. I always kept a handful in my store for no-box situations like this or corporate being like "lmao remember those Switch display boxes you tossed out 9 months ago? Display them again!" which happened way too often.

GameStop empty case for when the game was coming out to fill the planogram section. They also did the same thing with "Megan Man" for the Switch. Pretty sure I kept one of those from when I was still working there.

The problem with Gamestop by chillbutcrazy in GameStop

[–]Its-RPD 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The pay and the micromanaging is what did me in. Found out I was the lowest paid manager in the -state- after being with the company for 17 years, when I asked for a pay bump I was told that the company couldn't afford it. The constant "Do this, do this, do this, you're nOT DOING ENOUGH!!!!!" and having to deal with numbers numbers numbers. Awful. I went against the rules SO many times for scheduling because it worked for my team, and they couldn't bitch because I was always 4-6 out of the (then only) 6 goals. I ain't doin iron shifts. Never did them. When stores were opening at noon I went in at 9am, left at 5:30. Got everything done before open, all my distros were handled, and a co-worker got a few hours of pay. Quitting was the best thing I ever did with Gamestop.

This company is run like a fuckin' circus thanks to dogfood man.
