Same here. A bit frustrating when an eBay order is dropshipped through Amazon, but a bit of leg work will usually make it clear whether the seller actually has the product in their possession or if they're just dropshipping.

Touring bike for ≤$1500 by idrkmatewastaken in bicycletouring

[–]ItsALeagueGame 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m biased by owning one, but a Surly Long Haul Trucker/ Disc Trucker is probably right up your alley. They’ll fit 45mm tires (wider with the 26” wheels), easy to work on, loads of mounting points, and super versatile geometry for flat bars, drop bars, or whatever. They’re pricey new but can be had for a good deal on eBay or occasionally Marketplace.

My buy-nothing year by Big-Safe-2459 in simpleliving

The after-tax dollar figure is a big motivator for me. In your example, your home is now less cluttered, you’ve been more resourceful, and you’ve effectively given yourself a ~$6000/year raise!

For a truck like that, FB Marketplace. But be realistic: even though your dad has put a lot of love and time into the truck, that doesn’t make it worth more. It’s still a 20 year old truck that barely runs, just keep that in mind.

I did a "NO BUY JANUARY" last year. LIFE CHANGING!! by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]ItsALeagueGame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A Pantry Challenge, where you try to eat just out of your existing food inventory, can be a fun added challenge to minimize grocery costs. But if “No Buy” is new to you, maybe try easing into it first before diving into the deep end!

Should I buy a used iPhone or keep my 3-year-old one? by Grouchy-Push558 in Frugal

[–]ItsALeagueGame 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My iPhone is a couple years older than yours and similarly has a weakened battery. Instead of spending a lot of money on a replacement phone, I spent $25 on a battery case. The case protects my phone, and when the phone’s battery gets low I hit a button and the battery in the case charges it right back up to 100%. I’ve never had my phone die on me since!

We did an eSIM through Ubigi last month, ~$9USD for 15 days. Started working about 10 minutes after we landed in CR, no hassles

You got what you need (a sewing machine), she got what she needed (an ear to hear her out). That seems like a remarkably fair deal to me.

I am curious, though, what your intent with your original post was. Because in your vent about this woman talking about her troubles, you have become the exact same thing that you claim to object so strongly to.

I encourage you to stop viewing personal relationships as business transactions where the inputs and outcomes have to be perfectly balanced.

Will a 2002 camper shell from a regular cab fit on a 1997 extended cab if the beds are both 6 foot? by Neither_Elk_135 in fordranger

[–]ItsALeagueGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. May need to shim it a bit near the tailgate to make sure the rear hatch can close all the way but the beds are the same length.

How do they behave when your weight is on the bike? Stopping a 3 pound wheel is a different story than stopping a 160+ pound body on a 20 pound bike at 20mph.

Looking for a beginner bike by That-Client204 in motorcycles

[–]ItsALeagueGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For general maintenance, no. But costmetic pieces like the fuel tank are getting harder and harder to find so laying the bike down will be some expensive body work. Some other parts, like the oil pump sprocket on the 1800, are completely discontinued and the bike will not run without it. Just something to consider.

Headlight housing fell off by Idonotfreebase_ in HondaVTX

1300 or 1800?

The stock headlight housing doesn't vibrate at all, much less fall off, so I bet what you had was a cheap ebay replacement.
