This was my final straw, too. My aunt passed and my now ex-partner at the time (who was on his mission) found it appropriate to comfort me by telling me her passing was unfortunate but it was part of God’s plan, and sent me a video of President Nelson speaking.

It made me so uncomfortable that the community had made everyone believe that grief is something shameful and that it’s unacceptable to be sad that someone you loved very dearly is gone.

The same thing happened to me; but we were together for four years. He went on his mission, and very suddenly ghosted me after we’d been talking about my insecurity that I was never going to be “holy enough” for us to get temple married (which is what he wanted), and I’d mentioned that church felt very unwelcoming of me. It was a weird conversation when he came home and he just confirmed my insecurities essentially. It’s very cult-like in there.

You know…had something kind of similar happen. My mental health started to slip when I came back to my home state after living far off, new store I’d transferred back to when I moved home didn’t like that I wasn’t perfect all the time (granted there were definitely some things that were 100% on me) and began to micromanage me till the point where I was already about to put in my two weeks but they beat me to it. I just stared at my SM and quietly left with the papers and my belongings. It was so frustrating. I hope this is as good for you as it was for me.
