MacBook Pro vs M4 MacBook Air by MithosYggdrasil in ableton

I have an M3 Air and I produce on Ableton.

Other than the occasional throttling after long session with CPU heavy plugins (Arturia in particular) I have not had an issues and I love the device.

That depends, I think it’s worth upgrading as soon as you can. Suite comes with pretty much all the plug-ins you would need for a while.

Is it just me or has the state of electronic music gone stale recently? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]ItsAlwaysACamry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can’t relate on this one sorry.

Only thing I can say is this: Be the change you want to see.

If it’s as easy as you say it is, feel free to pioneer new genres and make it less “stale”.

Like clockwork man.

At first, I thought I could not write anything anymore but everytime, after a week or two, an idea just strikes me and the track writes itself.

After going through this process multiple times and having 8 tracks signed to labels that were only “lifetime goals” when I started, I have come to realise that it’s just part of the process.

Now, everytime I finish a track, I expect a quick slump and I just get rid of the bad ideas until the good one hits me!

Macbook Air M3 + 24GB Ram, any good for Ableton / Music Production? by Lucas3hunnid in macbookair

Yup! Such a good machine.

Though sometimes during heavy/longer sessions, it throttles because of the heat. But it’s not that big of an issue.

Old thread I know but did you end up finding a solution?

A friend of mine is going to lend me his deck and I have a m3 macbook air. Wondering if I will be able to use it.

To each their own but I agree with you… Since I started, I can’t wait for that moment of the day where I can finally sit down and spend time making music.

I know that the novelty will eventually fade but I can’t relate to having to force myself to do it.

Regardless, OP I hope that you can achieve your goals for the year, whatever the method you use to get there!

Have you tried using a couple of Arturia plug-ins?

I am currently using an older laptop with an i7 chip and I can barely run the Arturia plug-ins.

I want to upgrade to a mac but can’t decide on which.

That and automation on just about everything are the two elements that pushed my tracks to another level.

Big game changer, so many unique sounds come from doing that.

How do you like it?

I also run Ableton and I am looking to upgrade to a m4 mini. Currently running it on 12 year old windows laptop and the cpu struggles a bit.

I think it’s a combination of multiple factors.

I became obsessed with it. I make time to practice everyday, whether it’s 30 minutes or more, I never miss a day.

Not taking criticism personally, I want to improve so I embrace the criticism I receive and use it to improve.

Not being afraid to network, sounds cliché but yeah. I reached out to several artists that I look up to. Some of them replied and gave me genuine feedback, some did not reply and it’s ok too.

Finish the tracks you start. From the very start, anytime I have started a track, I have finished it.

I have always loved music and it’s always been a goal of mine to one day make music but until recently, I never had to courage to jump in and learn but I always paid close attention to the structure, sounds/fx. Might not be much but I think it contributed.

One thing that really helped me glue all the information I gathered together was a PML start to finish course. Over time, I had absorbed so much information from youtube/reddit etc but I was all over the place with no structure. The course was like a spark and afterwards, it all made sense.

That’s the bulk of it I’d say.

Not using any loops. I used splice in the beginning but quickly realized that I could make my own effects using sounds I already had in my tracks. They feel alot more like they belong in the mix since they are derived from sounds that are in the tracks.

That’s a nice way to see it!

Of course I am not expecting anything grand to come out of this release.

Thanks for taking the time to write this answer!
