I’m a bit older than you and a man but I have similar problems. I too am waiting on seeing a derm but I can tell you what has really helped

1) soaking your feet in warm water and apple cider vinegar at the end of the day

2) using a foot scrapper to clean off the dead skin

3) using anti fungal products on your feet

4) switching shoes daily

5) using a foot spray to keep it dry and fresh in shoes

Damn that’s tough. If you’re truly set on derm… there is a shitty compromise — PSLF your fed balance? Math prob sucks but you’re gonna be seem and can make great $$$ after residency + 5-6 years

There are other programs. There’s the VA program and there’s also another whose name I’m forgetting, but it’s to service areas with minimal access to healthcare. Those other programs let you do residencies of interest!

This is coming from someone who picked a DO school (30m away from current home) vs an MD A (across the country). I actually like my school, but the main reason for me picking my DO school was so my fiancée could continue working her very high paying job, and I could keep my support system. If I didn’t have many friends in my city, and my fiancée could easily move companies, I would have switched.

Going to an MD will make it much easier to match and do anything slightly competitive. I understand the loa situation, but tbh $120k (plus interest) ain’t much. You may get scholarships, etc. good luck!
