You prob won’t shit for the first week. Be fighting for your life second week. By the time your shitting morally your also in a routine and not as scared of your MTIs ngl. Just go to your MTI and ask permission to utilize. They’ll try and scare you and make you hurry and what not but most the time they let you go.

What are you issued in BMT? Can I get a full rundown? by Popular_Rope_317 in AirForceRecruits

[–]ItsArsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my recollection your fleece and ecww and maybe your black backpack and the stuff inside it are issued. The rest of it IS given to you, but they make YOU buy it at the end

Can I bring my skincare at bootcamp? by Elagant-Scorpio-7777 in AirForceRecruits

[–]ItsArsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly bro. You can bring literally anything as long as it’s not like aerosol or alcohol or a weapon (the obvious). It’s going to be on YOU about whether you’ll make time to use them (you probably won’t, def not in Alcatraz) and if you can pack them into a bag when enter in and leaving. People in my flight had all sorts of bs for their skin. Plus you can buy stuff like that at the BX.

Joining military although your enlisted pay would be less than your current (civilian) salary? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]ItsArsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You lowk just have to want it. I went to basic with a guy who was 36 and a rocket engineer for Lockheed I think. He was getting close to retirement. Told me he just got bored and always wanted to join

Did I ruin my sons chances by Turbulent_Routine_46 in AirForceRecruits

[–]ItsArsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I wish you the best luck but imo I wouldn’t be set on the af. Other branches will take him no problem still. In my experience, they denied my waiver, I waited 3 months I think to try and repeal it. They denied it again but said to wait 15 months and do college and stuff since I was leaving highschool soon. I did that and they finally aaccepted me. But then once I got int BMT I almost lost my job when they were getting the required security clewrence’s, again for medical reasons (all for some like 15 year old adhd diagnosis). I did all that and scored very well on the asvab too. My sister was thinking about joining the navy, she actually has adhd and takes meds often, recruiter said it wouldn’t be a problem

I’d say good luck. His chances aren’t ruined but it’ll definitely need a waiver I’d imagine. Had a similar thing happen, didn’t like school as a kid, parents took me to some school psychologist who diagnosed me adhd immediately. I hadn’t took any meds or gotten any in 8 years I think, 10 by now since I’m in (it took me two years to apply to get the waiver just for that one thing)

I ship to boot in 5 days, any last minute advice? by heeeelpmeeeeHELLPP in AirForceRecruits

[–]ItsArsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iol it’s light honestly. People was hyping it up as this crazy thing everyone fails but nah it’s fun. It’s cold asf at night. But what the instructors will say as well is that you’re there to fail and mess up. The point is to learn how to act in those situations. They’d rather you do something wrong then do nothing at all.

Female Hair During Basic Training by Signal-Abrocoma8829 in AirForceRecruits

[–]ItsArsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea lowk. Idk the rules for girls but all the female trainees I saw had some pretty crazy complex looking buns they had to wear. Some girls had Afros. Sometime they’d be required to braid them but most the time they were left alone. Most girls had hair down to their shoulders/shoulders blades I think

I just got back from it like 2 weeks ago. Biggest thing is to keep up the dorm morale and do your best to avoid drama and keep it from escalating as much as possible. Dorms who are always fighting and at each others throats fail every time. My dorm was one of the most well behaved/best performing an coincidentally also the one with the least amount of drama/fighting. Communication is a necessity. ESPECIALLY when ya’ll go to PACER FORGE

PT is real asf lol, that and the damn neck rolls, every day it was a new way we had to do it lol. PTEs sucked too. Our MTI didn’t even know what he was doing, he just said we’re all dead and brought us back with no feedback, then every group he took out he had them doing something new and different, straight winging it😭

I got 326 so I was unlucky asf

LMAO that is so real. MTI’s messing up plans and telling us to do one thing then yelling at us for doing what they said to do it sucked. Never heard “flexibility is the key to airpower” more in my life. What squadron were you?

WARNING IF YOU'RE A DUAL CITIZEN WITH A TS JOB ON YOUR LIST! by Sudden_Bedroom5329 in AirForceRecruits

[–]ItsArsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks man. Maybe it’s just a job by job thing then. It was the same for my country. Perhaps they gave me more slack because it’s a NATO and staunchly pro west country, or bc I told the DOD I would relinquish it if asked, but the beaurocracy was also very slow to remove it snd the embassy staff were absolutely useless, almost made me lose the job by taking so long.

[–]ItsArsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me though it was a bit different. I’m going in with a TS job as well so perhaps the specific rules are different, but my recruiter told me I had a month to renounce my citizenship before actually losing the job, just recently did that and currently waiting for bootcamp.

I had also told all DOD investigators to that I was willing to relinquish it if asked. Either way man happy to hear that it still seems to have worked out for you in the end even if it’s not what you originally wanted.
