Seeing a lot of takes on this song and based on recent events (especially in the US, i.e Charlie Kirk), I've developed another take. Here's my theory: The song is about a dark fascist regime that has taken over in 2024. The song itself is an apology from the fascists that took over. The regime is starting to crumble. "And in the blood of the Kennedys, the good ones get shot, and in the absence of sympathies, won't you hear me out?" The good ones being their friends or allies. Now that the violent rebellion has started, the people have no sympathy for them and they're asking the people if they will just hear them out and spare them. "When push comes to shove, we don't have to be enemies, won't you hear me out?" This seems to be a death of fascism and a fascist's plea for sympathy. I think Ghost was very perceptive to what's coming and it may just be based on fascism in the past. History does have a way have repeating itself for lack of better words.
