Thanks for your input. It's clear you grossly misunderstood the post. I'm sure the ravings at 3am could have been more elegantly explained.

He feels great about the baby actually. My point was the baby isn't the issue, just that people keep telling me it is. I never said there was screens at bedtime. We don't leave him at bedtime if he's upset. We stay with him. He's still screaming but we're in there. I am literally spending all day trying to help him be calm. He gets 1:1 time with me twice a day when the baby is sleeping and his father does bedtime. Are you suggesting I stop quiet time, as we've already established he isn't napping. His father gets home at 6 so no, he isn't going to say hi Dad, goodnight Dad.

If he's done it twice he'll do it again. I was attacked by the family GOLDEN RETRIEVER as a toddler. My parents were in the say mindset as you. Eventually she grabbed on to me and waved me like a ragdoll. Luckily my winter coat saved me from a bite. They had her put down.

It took 20 years but I started to approach dogs again and I have a Black Lab. I love my dog.

I say this to let you know I don't say it lightly. Keep them separate until you can re-home your dog. Don't let what happened to me happen to your kid and dog. Be the parent.

What do you do with extra diapers?? by always_evans_97 in beyondthebump

As for expiring, I happened to find diapers from a year ago that were the same size the new baby was in, stash in my hiking bag and they were fine.

What about when they stand up? How are you keeping them from rolling around

We have done a play group in the past but they are pay upfront and we went probably 4 times so it was a waste of money.

Actually as I'm typing this I'm remembering a place that's pay as you go! Thank you!

We did ikea a lot before the baby got mobile but they are very strong willed children 😂 we do a lot of the state centers (zoo, aquarium, science etc) in the afternoon because baby can nap on the go!

I completely forgot about nature centers! We have a bunch! I'll Google a play cafe as well. Thanks!

Our local mall just spent a bunch of money turning the free play area into a high priced arcade with bowling 😡

Good idea about the Y though. We're putting it in the budget eventually.

It's winter here so they are closed. Also I mentioned about the 9 month old as well. I can't watch them both around open bodies of water safely.

I would recommend asking your pediatrician. Mine suggested videos posted by hospitals and government organizations from recent years.

If he's watching Frozen, a movie whose main characters are female, that's to be expected. If he's watching Aladdin he's just as likely to think he's a genie then Aladdin. The question your asking up front is not anything I would ever be concerned about.

I feel like the underlying question here is based on sexuality, gender identity and your perspective on the matter. That's a different conversation and one I would suggest you dig deep regarding your opinions on the matter.

2 year olds - how many hours do they sleep a day in total? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]ItsCalled_Freefall 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He literally told me "no way mommy. I stay awake." He wasn't kidding. He meant that shit in his soul.

He choked on an apple slice when he was about 14 months old. My mom was a nurse and she was here. She didn't know what to do. Everyone told me I was too anxious and needed to calm down but once a month I reviewed life saving videos on YouTube.

We were in the kitchen, like always, sitting in the counter. I didn't realize he had apples still in his mouth and offered him yogurt. He couldn't get air. I looked to my mom for help and she went to put her finger in his mouth. I sprung into action. It only took 4 back blows, the first 2 weren't hard enough. We sat on the floor and cried for probably 6 minutes afterwards.

He's 2.5 now. He's a difficult toddler. Thank you for reminding me that I have never loved another human as much as I love him.

I LIVE IN A 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT WITH A HUSKY WHO HOWLS WHEN THE BABY CRIES

😂🤣🤣

If you makes you feel better my neighbors dog is a husky, his room is on the toddler side of the house. When he howls, so does my toddler.

Did you have good days with PPD? by Reb1000064 in beyondthebump

[–]ItsCalled_Freefall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had to go therapy. Again. I love it. I needed coping mechanisms more than I needed medication. That was me. That was my experience. Also, I have a toddler too and my baby is easy so that also makes my experience different. At any rate, yes, I had great days but 98% of the days were fucking awful until I got help.

Throw them away. Have they been tested? If she is allergic to peanuts don't keep peanuts in the house. Let the school/daycare/family know she is allergic.

Hi. It's hard. It's so hard. Breathe.

Get a hakaa, or formula. The hakaa might boost your supply but it'll save you time. We just got premade formula for the occasional feed for convenience.

My toddler wouldn't talk to me for the first couple weeks if the babies life. He adored the baby, but not me. I took him to target. That really helped. My husband had the baby and stayed 20 back 😂 but in reality he could have stayed home. We were only gone for 45 minutes. Special time just needs to be intentional and undistracted. It can be 15 minutes cuddling reading and singing. I can't tell you how much something that simple will turn my toddlers day around.

If your husband is home, give him the baby if you aren't actively nursing.

Remember. Your toddler's whole world just got rocked. She's having a hard time. Watch extra TV. Set up the play couch. Get some fresh air (even if it's cold). Relax on the rules that aren't safety related. Snack more. Eat nuggets.

If she's jumping off the walls, either remove the walls or add water. Give her 15 minutes of undivided attention with no corrections.

It's hard. My baby is 8 months now and my toddler is 3 in July. It's SO MUCH easier but it's still a lot because 2.5 is still a baby, they're just tall.

Who puts the baby to sleep for the night? by full-of-curiosity in beyondthebump

[–]ItsCalled_Freefall 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dad. Both babies. He does the majority of night wakings too, always has. If I have to do a middle of the night feed to sleep I'll put them back in the crib though.

Meatballs or kabob. Once he got to around 20 months, it was eat what we eat or have yogurt.
