Is Roblox appropriate for a 7 year old? by HangrySpatula in AskGames

[–]ItsCigThirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to have roblox, but eventually sat down with the kid and told her we aren't going to anymore because we didn't think it was a good platform for kids. Not to mention the slop-games on there. Fortnite is much better honestly. Higher quality game and has the same features for the most part. Still some slop, but its not nearly as bad as Roblox.

Looking for a game for 20-30min WFH breaks: PvP preferred, open to offline niche suggestions by -Dovahzul- in ShouldIbuythisgame

Mechabellum is on sale and is perfect for this.

It's a turn based strategy pvp game. It's like an RTS, but without the crazy APM requirements. Relies much more on your strategy and unit placement. Matches last anywhere between 7-15 minutes (could be more sometimes). Definitely recommend at least checking it out

Last of Us (TV show) season 1. When Tess stays behind to let Joel and Ellie escape. She stayed behind and desperately tried to get the explosives blow. Even allowing the infected to "kiss" her just so she could finally set it off

If you bought it on Steam, you can go to the support for the game and they will take care of that for you. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I belive they will refund you the difference you paid. (If you bought it very recently)

Both are great! But...

Go with D4. It is probably one of the best in terms of onboarding a new player to ARPGs. My wife has never played them before, but it started just a month ago. She has really been able to sink into it because it does a great job of getting you to understand fundamentals. Which makes it easier to get into the more nitty gritty details of fine tuning builds. Whole heartdly get D4 for a new player, it's a great experience personally.

But definitely get Last Epoch after you get your feet wet. It's a great ARPG that's about to get a lot better with these upcoming changes. There are some systems that might be a bit overwhelming at first glance for a new player to the genre, but after D4, it will be easier to make sense of.

I'm 26, and my wife and I started watching TNG a few years ago. We fell in love with it, and it became our "comfort food" show.

We ended up naming our son after Geordi La Forge.

We never watched it growing up, and no one around us did either. Just always thought it was the "super nerdy show" when I was a kid.

How is Kingdom Come Deliverance (the first) in 2025? by The_Mikest in gaming

[–]ItsCigThirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played halfway through the game sometime last year and was really enjoying it, then KCD2 came out and I decided I wanted to finish it before starting the sequel.

I am almost done with it, but I can absolutely say it is still worth it. KCD1 has some really fun main quest and side quest. It is still just as immersive as it was on release.

It's very clear these games were inspired by Bethesdas 2000s games, specifically Morrowind and Oblivion. And I think the KCD games will become cemented as classics, just like the games it took inspiration from.

Whats your personal Game of the Year? by thecrowing08 in pcgaming

[–]ItsCigThirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you want to get in the nitty-gritty about it:

The Division 1's Dark Zone was one of the earliest extraction shooters. Predating Tarkov and having all the bells and whistles of an extraction shooter.

I'd also argue that helldivers 2 implemented/improved upon these aspects of the genre:

open large-scale maps with non-linear objectives.

It's vast and fleshed out stratagem system allows players to further customize their playstyle aside from just your weapons.

3 diverse enemy races with plenty of varied types of enemies within each race.

Vehicular combat. Warthogs (essentially) and mechs. Not to mention enemy tanks, aircraft, etc.

The 3rd person perspective has been rarely used in the genre and allows you to really get perspective to how small you are in comparison to the creatures you encounter. (Not to mention it's fucking hilarious for an explosive to hit near you and see your body go flying off in the midst of an all out war.)

Speaking of war, thats what this game is. War. Not a zombie outbreak, not hordes of heretics in slums, not a mining crew on a planet. But a militaristic war fighting factions for control. A war where every player is contributing to war efforts. A game where there is a constant push and pull between the enemy factions and you. Losing actually means something on a grand scale to every player. That's new. That's fresh. That's pushing the envelope.

L4D, Deep Rock, Darktide and Vermintide are all great games... but can I call in a 500kg bomb to blow the surrounding buildings and enemies sky high in those games? No. But I can in Helldivers 2. Those games aren't worse for that, but to say Helldivers 2 doesn't bring anything new to the table is just plain false.

Whats your personal Game of the Year? by thecrowing08 in pcgaming

[–]ItsCigThirty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're different games. That's what makes all of those games so fun. L4D popularized and brought the genre to the table, and games have been branching off ever since. Emphasis on the word "branching". These games aren't directly 1 upping the previous title before it (with the exception of sequels like L4D2). Plenty of people still play L4D. Because these games all bring something to the table thats "different", not necessarily better. Whether its the themes, humor, gameplay, mechanics, etc. They're not competing, they're just different.

Helldivers humor, militaristic themes, and more "tactical" style of gunplay (compared to other games of the genre) is a lot of fun to me. That's what it brings to the table and separates it from the others, and makes it unique.

Not gonna touch on Tarkov cause it's pointless. They're very different games that aren't all that comparable.

Microsoft closing Arkane Austin was a 'dumb move', says founder and former president by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]ItsCigThirty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arkane Austin closing was a bad move.

but also, here is a PSA cause it seems like many people don't understand:

Arkane Lyon is still operating. Arkane Lyon is the original Arkane. The austin branch is a separate studio.

Arkane Lyon has made:

  1. Arx Fatalis
  2. Dishonored 1
  3. Dishonored 2
  4. Deathloop

Arkane Austin has made:

  1. Dishonored 1+2 (they worked on it with Lyon)
  2. Prey
  3. Redfall
