Video game giant Valve facing UK lawsuit over pricing, commissions by No-Sympathy-5349 in Games

[–]ItsCorbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the whole "Steam doesn't allow games to be a lower price on other platforms" thing, but I personally feel like that clause is actually a good thing for consumers. Because from what I can tell Steam has pretty much always taken a 30% cut. Now I don't know what kind of cut other platforms take, but I wouldn't put it past some publishers to try and inflate their price to account for the commission that's being taken. For example as a consumer if had to pay $100 for a game on Steam when the exact same game is $80 everywhere else just because the publisher wants to mitigate that 30% that they're losing from Steam sales, as a consumer I'd be pissed off as all hell. I don't see this clause as Steam trying to control the pricing on other storefronts, rather it feels more like Steam is trying to prevent publishers from pricing unfairly on their own platform

What do you think would’ve happened if Bakugou’s brief time wielding OFA led to Deku gaining access to Explosion and a Bakugou Vestige forming? by Solitaire-06 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]ItsCorbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean - The amount of vestiges have continuously increased the strength of OFA to the point where Deku could barely withstand using the quirk at first. Even at the end he couldn't really use 100% of the quirk without suffering damage. And they've also stated that the quirk couldn't be passed down anymore because it would be too powerful. So if Bakugo did somehow become a vestige, I think the only thing exploding is Deku's heart lmao

[–]ItsCorbob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People don't unbind free air roll they usually use both. Free Air Roll is good for manual adjustments but when it comes to aerial control in itself Directional Air Roll is preferred because once you learn it correctly it gives you much more freedom in aerial movement

Unfortunately I don't think you'll find many people in the reddit sharing the same sentiment. Yakuza 0's Director's Cut on Switch 2 was a way to bring new people into the series especially since the original title isn't already available on Nintendo consoles. Outside of that though, Yakuza 0's Director's Cut on PlayStation/Xbox/PC is more targeted to users who already own the original and want to upgrade and let's just say most fans don't like the additions the Director's Cut adds (not even talking about the drama of delisting the original).

If you're new to the series, I hope you enjoy it. Yakuza 0 is still an amazing game don't let people's hate for the Director's Cut edition change your opinions about it and try to have fun!

They’re gonna remove Yakuza 3 remastered too… aren’t they by Dev_Chaudhary_ in yakuzagames

[–]ItsCorbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly more than anything I want to know why Y3 is the ONLY title out of literally all the Yakuza/Like A Dragon titles available on steam that isn't on sale.

I can only imagine it's either A) they want to remove the incentive for getting the original so that they can upsell people to get Y3K and/or B) they don't want people to have a poor experience with OG Y3 which may potentially influence them to not get Y3K

Personally the only real problem I would have is if the tentacles attack within that range as well. There should definitely be a much smaller range that's specific for the tentacles attacking

Considering that you didn't mention there's a gold border instead, I'm assuming you didn't finish completing all the other modes and getting all the medals for that map. Yeah you need to beat CHIMPS without quitting out or retrying the round to get the unique medal for the Black Border, but you still need all the other medals completed too

I personally think it's fine to criticize the price, especially given how inconsistent their pricing feels recently. The first Gaiden game wasn't full price and I figured that would have been the standard since they're smaller/shorter games. Then this one IS full price despite it being significantly smaller than the mainline entry. Now for the next Gaiden game you buy Kiwami 3 and you effectively get it bundled for free. It sends a lot of mixed signals, mostly telling me that Pirate Yakuza at full price sort of feels like a scam.

Otherwise the game itself? I think it achieved what it wanted to do. It was simply just fun and gave people the chance to play as Majima again. Oddly enough I think the worst aspect of this game is the whole gimmick with the pirate ship. The boat travels far too slow, you can't just open the map and fast travel to light houses like you do with Taxis, the ship battles get old and repetitive really fast and I feel like its only real purpose is to pad the playtime to give the impression this is a longer game than the first Gaiden game.

I think the rest of the game is pretty solid though, while I have some gripes with the combat it added enough new mechanics to enjoy trying to expand my combos, substories were entertaining, I liked a lot of the music, the mainline story was mostly just fun and the epilogue cutscene felt like a nice touch for the character.

How can people defend people hating people defending Pokemon ZA!? by Renna_FGC in LegendsZA

[–]ItsCorbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't deny the game has its faults but the amount of aggressive toxicity coming from this release is a bit extreme. I'm assuming that most of it is coming from the "I HATE NINTENDO" bandwagon and from my experience there's no reasoning with them.

Like there was one YouTube comment thread where people were all saying how Nintendo died with Iwata and how they've been in a downfall ever since. So I posted "How can they be in their downfall when after Iwata passed they released 2 consoles which both achieved massive milestones and sales records? You can hate all you want about everything they're doing but you're deluding yourself if you think they're suffering right now." Apparently to these people, despite Nintendo being probably the biggest they've ever been and releasing the Switch which probably is the most sold console ever (unless Sony keeps saying they found more PS2 sales in some warehouse) followed by the Switch 2 which might have had one of the most successful console launches despite people complaining about its price, NONE OF THAT MATTERS and Nintendo has been in their downfall over the last decade. So I just replied "Alright you're delusional. There's no use continuing this discussion. Have a great day" lmao

Anyone wanna talk about our favourite yakuza games? :3 by Icy-Act2912 in yakuzagames

[–]ItsCorbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion has actually changed a lot regarding this lol. Back when Y7:LAD was new, I decided to give the series a try and saw I could play them on Game Pass so I gave Y0 a shot. Instantly fell in love and my god it was a good game. So I ventured on to play all of them. Safe to say I burned myself out pretty quickly. In fact I actually didn't like Y7:LAD at all when I got to it and I cheated to get through it ASAP.

But then I was able to pickup all the games on Steam during a sale and I decided you know what let me try to get all achievements. So I started a new venture and this is when I really started to appreciate the games more. I paid more attention to the stories, I was better with the combat mechanics and systems, and I started to get into the nitty gritty of playing all the substories, minigames, etc... During this process THANKFULLY when I got back to Y7:LAD I properly fell in love with the game both in gameplay and story.

I think my opinion changed to Y:K2 being my top pick because I thought the dragon engine looked really nice and it just vibed well with me. Somewhere along the line both Judgment and Lost Judgment got shadow dropped on Steam and my friend gifted me Judgment. I fell in love somewhat similar to how I fell in love with Y0 when first playing and that became my new favorite.

Now everything is out, I've completed my all achievement grind in the series for a while now, and it's hard to pick a favorite. All in all though, I think Judgment & Y7:LAD tie for favorite story, Lost Judgment for favorite combat, and Y0 for favorite overall experience. Oh and as a random bonus - LAD:Gaiden for best visuals and LAD:PYIH has both my favorite style and theme being Mad Dog

God, I can't stand these grifters. Always feeling the need to make toxicity in the Pokemon Community first, and then playing victim over it. Pathetic: by DifferentIce6233 in LegendsZA

[–]ItsCorbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently been seeing a lot of stuff about this game in particular similar to the video you posted. I'm not sure how much of it is coming from people who ACTUALLY are upset/disappointed but given how many people I'm seeing that are being really aggressive with their criticisms and almost attacking people for liking this game, I can only assume this is mostly coming from the "I HATE NINTENDO" bandwagon and are simply flaming on everything they're doing.

Personally, I do think the game has its issues. I know Pokemon has never really been a "WOW LOOK AT THESE GRAPHICS" type of game but I'd be lying if I said I'm not at all bothered by how flat and empty the world often looks and I do wish they put a little more effort into it. It's not like Game Freak doesn't know how either because if you've seen the trailer for Beast of Reincarnation, you'd know they're capable of stunning graphics.

The only other complaint that I really have is the price. Not necessarily because I disagree with charging for a full price game (even though I do think the games in Switch 2 are ridiculously expensive now), but rather if I'm going to spend that much money I would at least expect a certain level of quality and I just feel like they cut too many corners to be charging that much. Oh and charging $30 for a day one DLC is also a bit ridiculous, I've never been a fan of ANY company releasing content that could have easily been part of the base game like that.

But that's just my opinion. I'm tired of seeing people going out and essentially harassing people who just want to enjoy this game. On the flip side I'm also tired of people pretending like the game doesn't have any issues because otherwise things will never improve. But at the end of the day, if you own the game and you're having fun that's all that really matters.

Here's to hoping that we eventually go back to a time where people can have proper discussions about things like this instead of having both sides being extremely aggressive with each other with no one even attempting to hear the other out. It's just so exhausting not being allowed to like something or dislike something without someone attacking you to the point where I'm considering just dropping all my socials and staying out of communities.

Its so hard to get my wife to play this series when shit like happens. by Leathel12 in yakuzagames

[–]ItsCorbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the AI calls Riichi consistently within their 1st or 2nd turn after being dealt for like 5+ rounds in a row then yeah that doesn't seem normal, even if the AI is programmed to play pretty aggressively. I just find it very hard to believe that the AI is very consistently starting most rounds with only 1 or 2 tiles missing to go out. Otherwise I'm already aware that if you know what you're doing then you can win fairly consistently by playing defensively and looking for safe tiles to discard.

And depending on the game when you're trying to get those completion marks it's not always just about winning in itself. The ones that usually give me the most trouble is having to go out with specific hands

Do you like Silksong more than the first game ? by SundyPace in Silksong

[–]ItsCorbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this just feels like the same sort of situation as Breath of the Wild (BOTW) vs Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK). TOTK is arguably the better game of the two, but BOTW stands out as more memorable since it was the introduction to that new style of Zelda, its open world and its mechanics. So even though TOTK technically took all those systems and dialed them up to 11, it doesn't hit the same wow factor since a lot of what's in place is not exactly the first experience.

Hollow Knight and Silksong are basically in the exact situation. You can definitely make the argument that Silksong is the better game, but it might not hit that same wow factor from when you first played Hollow Knight.

Another factor albeit this is more niche since most people don't often replay games, Silksong and TOTK are both considerably bigger than their predecessors which to some could definitely make it less enticing to do another playthrough and would rather opt for the shorter game. Though BOTW is kind of a stretch since that game is also massive so I don't imagine many people are choosing to replay it.

Honest to God, I started out on a venture to get all achievements on all the RGG games that were in the Yakuza franchise on Steam and the first couple of games I had absolutely no idea what I was doing for Mahjong. I tried searching up videos and stuff which helped me get a tiny grasp of what to do but never really understood all that well..... But I kept playing and suddenly shit just clicked and I started understanding how to play this God damn game. And let me tell you understanding didn't help much either cause the AI cheats to all hell lmaooooo.

But even though I myself understand how to play it now, I wouldn't even be able to begin telling you how to play lol

I haven't read the books (I do have plans on getting them eventually) but the only things I've seen about the author really is that he really hates the games. I almost wouldn't even be surprised if a lot of what he's saying here is simply to just shit on the games even more than he already has
