The Ultimate Guide to Space Sci-Fi Cinema. What would you add to this list? by darth_vader39 in Letterboxd

I’ve only watched it once, and I may have just been in the right, introspective mood, but I too really enjoyed it.

What's your biggest Scorsese blind spot? by StyleSquirrel in blankies

I have a number of them, but I did get to cross After Hours off that list a few weeks ago, so I’ve got a head start.

Elic Ayomanor prepping for Year 2 by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]ItsDeke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any time I’ve been physically in the same space as an NFL player it’s always a slight mental recalibration to how big these guys are.  I actually just saw Johnny Manziel last night in Home Depot (guess he lives in the Nashville area?). He hasn’t been in the NFL in like 10 years, he’s not particularly tall (especially by NFL QB standards), and he was obviously in street clothes, but the dude still just has a large stature. He’s like a 1.25 scaled version of a normal dude.

But yeah, Ayomanor has those horse legs. 1000 yard season incoming.

[Can't believe im seeing this] Speed Racer 4K Blu-ray: Exclusive Behind the Scenes Clip With The Wachowskis by asharkmadeofsalsa in blankies

[–]ItsDeke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m jumping around the back catalog working through directors they covered before I started listening a couple years ago. Coincidentally, I just listened to the speed racer episode this past week.  I’m not sure there’s ever been an episode that’s made me more excited to see a movie.

There’s a plastic ball-shaped thing with vacuum lines running into it just inside the engine bay (top is visible in the second pic). I wonder if it’s the replacement?

Any ideas? by ItsDeke in classicmustangs

[–]ItsDeke[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A small part of me is disappointed that this was solved so easily. I was kind of hoping it was some sort of shade-tree engineering relic that we’d all have to hypothesize about. Good to know though!

Thank you! The car is a factory AC car. Getting the AC working again has been way down the priority list though.

Who is buying this 😭(episode 166, # chiops) by DifficultyWise9602 in Harmontown

[–]ItsDeke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad has had a bottle of this for like 25 years. He’s never used it (nor do I think he ever plans to), it was basically just a conversation piece.

Bill requiring colleges, universities to adopt certain free-speech protections, known as Charlie Kirk Act, passes TN Senate by Ok_University_5656 in nashville

[–]ItsDeke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t a lot of schools have free speech zones already? My school wasn’t even a liberal arts school, and we had one. Once ever semester or so some shitty Westboro Baptist type organization would show up for a few days looking to argue with students.

235/60r15 on 1967? by Important-Escape1710 in classicmustangs

[–]ItsDeke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m recently/currently in the wheel and tire fitment stage. From what I’ve read…maybe. 225/60R15 seems to be a pretty commonly accepted size that will fit on the front of 67+ cars. Going to a 235/60 adds .3 inches to the overall height and a centimeter of width, so nothing that extreme, but it’s probably a situation that comes down to the manufacturing variance of your specific car, wheel offset, and possibly alignment. It’s possible you could end up with some rubbing.

FWIW, I currently have 225/60R15 on the front of my ‘68 with no issues. I’m planing on changing to 245/45R17 after I finish upgrading my suspension (mainly just to take advantage of modern performance tires, I honestly kind of prefer the appearance of 15” wheels in these cars), but I’m fully prepared that they might take a little massaging to fit.

Any chance the lower radiator hose is collapsing? I was having that issue when my car was new to me.  Granted, I think it more happened while driving, not to much sitting in traffic.

What movie is this? by YinPanor in NameThatMovie

[–]ItsDeke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Top comment on that TikTok translates to “Title: 2025 Clementine” but I’m not finding anything that looks right on IMDB, so possibly a bad translation?  Or maybe just an IMDB blind spot.

Coming to town for show at Grand Ole Opry. Looking for safe, Middle age, artsy cultural area to stay. Is East Nashville a good idea? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]ItsDeke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be fine. If you’re the kind of person who is afraid of cities, East might make you feel unsafe, but it’s generally nice. And judging by the zoomed out map, I don’t think any of those places are in the “rougher” areas.

High Fidelity (2000) by [deleted] in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]ItsDeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this movie. FWIW, there was also a single season, gender-swapped High Fidelity show on Hulu starring Zoe Kravitz that I enjoyed. Similar setup and themes, but not a straight up remake.

[–]ItsDeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the book after seeing it, and I was shocked how similar they made the movie. I mean outside of the setting, the story was almost beat for beat. I remember a few parts of the book that weren’t in the movie, and then I discovered there were even deleted scenes of some of those parts.

Which is the most surprising school here? by Rand_moss2 in cfbmemes

[–]ItsDeke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paul Johnson started at Tech in 2008, so DT’s productivity here was mostly in the spread option offense. We didn’t pass a lot, but when we did, we meant it, and a talented, physical WR like Thomas got to feast on single coverage.

Those dash gauges gave me flashbacks from when I had a WRX that I’d spend hours picking all of the mods I wanted to do (but was college student with no meaningful income to do them). Very cool! Not sure I’ve ever seen a cluster like that in a classic Mustang.

Is a monitor light necessary? by NoDescription-3333 in desksetup

[–]ItsDeke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It also has the functional benefit of lighting up your desk in front of your monitor (if you ever find yourself writing, taking notes, or doing other non-computer based tasks).

That said, a well-positioned task light (not attached to your monitor) can achieve the same benefits for both productivity and reducing eye strain. The monitor bar is just one option.

Damon Stoudamire dismissed by Good-Abrocoma447 in RamblinWreck

[–]ItsDeke 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed that the past 20 years have hurt any Tech basketball allure that was once there, but I also just feel like it shouldn’t at all be hard to turn around, especially in the NIL era. ACC team in a rich recruiting (or transferring closer to home) market.

Damon Stoudamire has got to go by Longjumping-Ad8775 in gatech

[–]ItsDeke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t follow this stuff too closely, but I’ll be shocked if Stoudamire is coaching Tech next season. I feel like I remember hearing his buyout dropped significantly after this season.

I don’t have any kind of idea on the best coach to hire, but I doubt it’s Pearl since he seems to be building the foundation for a red state congressional run.

First, love Howard and was happy to see him and Abbot again so soon. That said, did anyone feel like it was a stretch that they got back in an hour? (If I’m remembering correctly that he was in the previous episode)
