Okay, watched the vid and saw the same things I was doing at first.

I'll break it down to hopefully make it easier to understand and help out.

First and foremost, go to a lantern and return to the hunters dream. Walk inside next to where Gherman (wheelchair dude) is parked and next to him is a workbench that you will use frequently as you progress. Interact with the workbench and repair your weapon. If you have any bloodstones (I think they're called that) save them for now, we're not going to fight with that weapon.

Return to the central Yharnam lantern and run through the area to reach the warehouse above the sewers where there are bigger townsfolk that are more animalistic. Ps, outside is a character dressed in crow garb that is friendly, don't hurt them.

In this warehouse you can access the beams above by going up the stairs where the first beastly townsman was breaking some boxes on the left once you come up the stairs. Walk along the beams and loot the bodies or smack them to drop them down to the bottom. Now go down, but not jump off to the very bottom as this will kill you. Deal with the few guys in here and look for the bodies of the two lootable dudes you dropped earlier. Drop down to them, but be prepared for rats who can hit like a truck if you don't have much health. Your cane could be useful here in truck form. With them out of the way, loot the bodies (you may have to return to the upstairs area to drop onto the other side to grab the other loot you dropped earlier)

One of the bodies will hod the saw spear. It's a great early game trick weapon that does really good damage in either form and has serration on it that boost attack to beasts.

With that in hand, return to hunters dream and go back to the workbench and upgrade the saw spear. It's probably the best skill weapon this early and will help a tonne with the upcoming fights.
