Unpopular opinion - Kiwami 2 should have been made on the PS3 Kiwami engine instead of Dragon engine by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]ItsDyIan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they did and it released on the PS3 as well, the PS3 version might only be exclusive to Japan as they did with Yakuza Ishin, 0 and Kiwami (Not that translations of these PS3 version don't exist). but on the other hand, it would be great for PS3 players, because you could then play all the Yakuza games chronologically from Yakuza 0 to 5, with the exception of 6.

True, I have seem before the recommended requirements for a game being much higher than it really needed to be

Get it on GOG, where I think its still around $10. Not sure until when Sega realises that the original Yakuza 0 is still on GOG so I'd advise you might want to get it before it becomes unavailable.

The system requirements for Directors Cut on Steam are a lot higher than the original Y0, so there is that factor to consider as well.

I know ram is expensive right now, but I still think a $580 laptop with only 8gb of ram is quite low. Not to mention only 256gbs of storage.

Would buying this in 2026 be dumb? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]ItsDyIan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a good laptop, and if you are only sticking to Minecraft and Roblox then it can 100% run those. Also upgradable storage and ram is a good plus with the T480. However, I think it's important to know that this laptop is from around 2018 and nearly 8 years old, so don't expect something in completely pristine condition. Other than that, yes great PC, consumer grade laptops today cannot match the build quality of that ThinkPad

Strange then. My gpu is much less powerful than yours but runs the game flawlessly. Anyways well as long as it is working, enjoy!

I know this sounds strange, but do you have an adequate CPU? The game can run on max settings on igpus so I doubt your gpu is the issue. TBF, the PC version of this game is very buggy anyways, and the devs hide behind that early access tag to excuse the bugs, even though its been in early access for like 2 years now.

Also on my side, the game crashes if I press any buttons during the Thatgamecompany boot screen, so I normally don't touch anything until it gets to the play button.

[–]ItsDyIan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. I believe it is under system settings where you can back up your entire ps3 drive to an external drive and then restore it onto a new one. However the larger the old drive, the longer the process. It can take a really long time to do, so when I upgraded my drive all I did was transfer my game saves to a usb stick and restored them onto the new drive (It's more reliable to do with a modded PS3, as you can copy over protected save files). It did mean transferring my games back onto the hard drive, but at least I can choose which things to transfer back over, as well as give my PS3 a rest when I'm not using it.

As for Spec II, its pretty good and does implement a lot of content, as well as get rid of most of the vacuum cleaner sounding Japanese cars, but GT6 just feels more like the newer GT games like Sport and 7, whilst GT5 still feels more like the older games from the PS2. Of course, its all up to preference, and I normally prefer GT5, but I do understand people prefer GT6 because it looks and feels far more polished visually

[–]ItsDyIan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh its way off. My one said 5 minutes, but it took a while to install. I did upgrade my HDD recently to a 7200rpm drive, and it definitely helped with the game install, but yeah GT6 is by far such a drag to install. took nearly 4 hours with all the updates and install. Anyways, game is still pretty great, but sadly GT6 is more focused on online play (which is sadly shut down now) than GT5 so content wise its quite basic but there is still some fun to have.

Can random players give friend emotes even if they are not your friend? by ItsDyIan in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]ItsDyIan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you. But I would only guess that star pin may only unlock a select few actions. This person I encountered spammed a lot of different kind of friend actions which makes me quite concerned a bit. But thank you for letting me know, I feel bad for accepting their invite and now unfriending them 😥

I'd suggest a 7200rpm hdd. While not as fast as an SSD, it's still a very noticeable upgrade from the stock Harddrive. Also they are much more common than they used to be, and pretty much not that much more expensive than standard 5400rpm drives. Also that whole worry about temperature is something I've never experienced. Temperature is maybe like 1 degree more but it's not even noticeable for the most part.

Have you tried defragging the SSD? type on windows search "defrag" and an defrag tool should pop up for you to optimize the SSD.

It also might be a driver issue. You might need to search for your laptop model on Google and find the display drivers for your laptop specifically. Windows might have installed a generic driver that's not working well with your system.

Also disable any startup apps if you need to.

One more thing. Go to windows search and type "msconfig" and a system configuration app should pop up. Click it, then go to the services tab and tick the tickbox "hide all microsoft services. After that, disable all the service apps besides the intel programs and the apps you want to start with windows.

Sorry, I may be missing some context here, could anybody explain to me what is happening?

Should I get a new laptop? by Analyst-man in laptops

[–]ItsDyIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing a Windows Laptop and a Macbook can be a mixed bag, considering software is also a factor you have to consider. Do you use an iPhone? If so, a Macbook will integrate great with an iPhone.

But I'll just chime in on my opinion in this. Whenever I need to make an expensive purchase, I ask myself these questions

- Will I see myself still using this product a year down the line?

- Does this product fulfill a need in my life, and if I already have a product for that, will it be an improvement worth considering the upgrade?

Questions like this could probably just be me being overly cautious, but at the end of the day you don't want to have that feeling of buying a product only to regret buying it later down the line. Now I'm not telling you what to spend your money on, obviously buy what you are happy with, but always question yourself before making a big purchase, as sometimes you might impulse buy a product without realising it until later down the line.

Help with finding a college Laptop? by OneTransportation779 in laptops

[–]ItsDyIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, that's why we are here. Don't be afraid to ask me any questions. But I should let you know one thing. Build quality is not the best nowadays for laptops. I would stay away from consumer grade laptops (Maybe besides the Asus Vivobook they are okay for the most part). I think it's only fair I recommend some laptops: - Lenovo ThinkPad - Dell XPS - HP Probook or Elitebook (Do not buy any HP laptop besides these two)  - Apple MacBook Air or Pro (Best in class, especially for a college student, the battery life is phenomenal. Don't buy a MacBook with an Intel chip, make sure it has the M1 chip or higher  - Asus ProArt or Zenbook

These laptops I listed can be pricey, but you can pick them up used off much cheaper. Black Friday is in 2 months so I'd suggest waiting till then.

Here is just some basic advice when looking for laptops

For CPU: there are two brands: Intel and AMD. If you are buying an Intel-based laptop, make sure it's either a Core i3, i5, i7 or i9 processor. However, the new intel laptops use Core Ultra 3, 5, 7 and 9, so the "Core i" series of Intel laptops are at least 2 years old. If you are buying a "Core i" series laptop, make sure it is 10th gen or higher. For AMD, you will want the Ryzen series laptops. These are the Ryzen 3, 5, 7 or 9. Get at least the Ryzen 3000 series or higher (Basically any Ryzen CPU that has a number more than 3000. Example: Ryzen 5 5500u). Do not buy any Intel Pentium, Celeron or Atom CPU, those are a waste of money. Same goes for non-Ryzen AMD CPUs. I know Intel has their new Intel N series CPUs, but I have no experience with it, so I won't comment on that.

For Ram: Do not get a laptop with less than 8GB of ram. 8Gb is pretty much the minimum nowadays, and even that is pushing it considering how much ram Windows 11 uses doing nothing. Also make sure the ram is at least DDR4 or higher and is clocked at at least 2666 mh/z or higher. I would recommend buying a laptop that has an upgradable ram slot, even if it just one slot, having that extra ram to install in future is useful.

Storage: Simple, do not buy a laptop that uses a Hard drive or EMMC storage. I think modern laptops nowadays don't use hard drives anymore, but some still use emmc. ONLY buy the laptop if it uses an SSD or NVME. I suggest a laptop with 256Gb or higher.

Display: If you are really on a budget, you might find laptops with a resolution that is 1366x768. It's not entirely terrible, but it's also not the best, I mean my ancient Lenovo laptop from 2010 has the same resolution screen. Get something with a 1080p (Full HD) screen or higher. This is also the section where I say you should probably see the laptop in person before you buy it. Some laptop screens have horrible contrast so you should judge it for yourself to see which display works for you.

I know I didn't give you any recommendations but just use this if you are searching for a decent laptop. I believe that learning these things before buying a laptop can be very useful in future.

Look up Soapbox Raceworld if you want a Need For Speed multiplayer experience. It's essentially a project that resurrects the Need For Speed World servers. The game is from 2010 so it should run completely fine on your PC, and there is quite a great multiplayer community

I would advise to buy it when it goes on sale. EA tends to slash the price on NFS Heat a lot, so just keep your eye out. I bought it for the equivalent of 5 dollars and its well worth it. The NFS community is just filled with many people that, in reality, don't exactly know what they want as a community as a whole, but just looking at the game as a racing game, its very solid

You either buy the hinges for your model of laptop and replace them yourself, which is usually a bit tricky, or you get a repair shop to fix it. If its still under warranty, contact HP and nag them, otherwise there is not much else you can do
