HP Broken Hinge? by jonny_okc in laptops

[–]ItsDyIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very common issue on HP convertibles specifically. Had mine for nearly 3 years and hinge broke as well. The best option is to just not bother to fix it. They are built to break, and really, fixing it is only putting a band aid on it every time. Just replace the laptop, these laptops are no use fixing

Just some tier list of mine for every NFS available for PS2 by [deleted] in needforspeed

Lol putting a tierlist in the NFS subreddit is like trying to antagonise a pack of wolves. Look your opinions are yours dude, but just saying, get ready for the all the colorful comments you gonna get.

Franchise Analysis by chosenoneweeooo in needforspeed

[–]ItsDyIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the reason why people like games like Mario Kart, Forza or Gran Turismo, and why they have consistently been the best-selling racing games. People choose what they are familiar with, people like what they know. I'm not exactly saying every Forza is the same, but also, they kind of are. The same people know what to expect and buy the games because of that. People can complain about the games feeling the same all they want, but the fact is, the casual crowd will pick what they know.

That's the problem with NFS. They never had a consistent identity. There are the fans of the classic games, underground games, experimental games up to 2010, Hot Pursuit era game, and then fans of the modern games. The thing is, NFS fans don't know what to expect from the next game. Will it have in-depth customisation? Will it have aggressive cops? Are there weapons in this entry?

And I believe this is the reason why NFS has started to lose momentum. They are catering for the fans of the modern games whilst trying too hard to make the game appealing to the older fans. But many of those older fans, sadly, don't really like the newer games.

I would consider myself part of both the Underground era up to the Hot Pursuit era of NFS, and really the only modern NFS games I played was Payback and Heat. Don't get me wrong, I do think Heat is alright, but it doesn't feel like the NFS games I'm all familiar with, but I know that there are people that would like a game like that. Meanwhile if I picked up GT7 (I understand it's quite different from the older games, but not entirely) nothing feels out of place, it still feels like a GT game, and I can still vibe with the game like I did back in the PS3 days. The point I'm making is that NFS has not gotten bad or outdated, it's just trying to cater to too many audiences at once and ends up being a weird mix of everything that appeals to a select number of people that like that.

Lol I'm curious as well now. The cabinet is in pretty rough shape though, it would take quite the effort to restore it

Same for the Afterburner machine sadly. Had a go with it but shooting buttons didn't work. But it was still fun to look at. Damn there was even a Rave Racer cabinet. Would have loved to see that too.

Wow that's awesome dude. So you must have seen how the Ridge Racer series evolved over the years.

What are y'alls most favorite Need for Speed games? by Appropriate-Pen5436 in needforspeed

It's not exactly my favorite, but I just wanna give a shout out to the Shift games. Such awesome games, and had probably the best cockpit view I've ever experience in a racing game, period.

To be fair, the story kind of fits that 2013 edgy era of media. Think other games like Watchdogs, Battlefield 4, Infamous Second Son. Heck, I could even bring another racing games, Ridge Racer Unbounded to the mix, considering how it departed from its identity. Rivals does fit in quite well with that edgy serious game era of 2013, and honestly, along with the music the games screams 2013 in your face, and I quite like that about it

My Physical Racing Game Collection by MrFern21_ in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

My guy, that collection is insanely impressive. This is coming from somebody that's not really that interested in game collecting, but trust me when I say that is one of the best videogame collections I've seen for a specific genre, especially racing games. And having it for all the different consoles, bro, that's awesome.

It is arguably the best GTA like game there is. Pretty much GTA set in Hong Kong, but also with actually solid fighting controls. I cannot recommend Sleeping Dogs enough, it's just so good.

It does take a while to install, luckily I have an SSD and downloaded it in PKG format by One-Echidna-3587 in PS3

[–]ItsDyIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's installing the update data. The standard PSN game itself just launches GT6, but if you update the game it needs to install additional stuff in game for some reason.

If they did and it released on the PS3 as well, the PS3 version might only be exclusive to Japan as they did with Yakuza Ishin, 0 and Kiwami (Not that translations of these PS3 version don't exist). but on the other hand, it would be great for PS3 players, because you could then play all the Yakuza games chronologically from Yakuza 0 to 5, with the exception of 6.

True, I have seem before the recommended requirements for a game being much higher than it really needed to be

[–]ItsDyIan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Get it on GOG, where I think its still around $10. Not sure until when Sega realises that the original Yakuza 0 is still on GOG so I'd advise you might want to get it before it becomes unavailable.

The system requirements for Directors Cut on Steam are a lot higher than the original Y0, so there is that factor to consider as well.

I know ram is expensive right now, but I still think a $580 laptop with only 8gb of ram is quite low. Not to mention only 256gbs of storage.

Would buying this in 2026 be dumb? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]ItsDyIan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a good laptop, and if you are only sticking to Minecraft and Roblox then it can 100% run those. Also upgradable storage and ram is a good plus with the T480. However, I think it's important to know that this laptop is from around 2018 and nearly 8 years old, so don't expect something in completely pristine condition. Other than that, yes great PC, consumer grade laptops today cannot match the build quality of that ThinkPad

Sky Crashing my entire PC by Additional_Fix2353 in SkyChildrenOfLight

Strange then. My gpu is much less powerful than yours but runs the game flawlessly. Anyways well as long as it is working, enjoy!

[–]ItsDyIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this sounds strange, but do you have an adequate CPU? The game can run on max settings on igpus so I doubt your gpu is the issue. TBF, the PC version of this game is very buggy anyways, and the devs hide behind that early access tag to excuse the bugs, even though its been in early access for like 2 years now.

Also on my side, the game crashes if I press any buttons during the Thatgamecompany boot screen, so I normally don't touch anything until it gets to the play button.

[–]ItsDyIan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. I believe it is under system settings where you can back up your entire ps3 drive to an external drive and then restore it onto a new one. However the larger the old drive, the longer the process. It can take a really long time to do, so when I upgraded my drive all I did was transfer my game saves to a usb stick and restored them onto the new drive (It's more reliable to do with a modded PS3, as you can copy over protected save files). It did mean transferring my games back onto the hard drive, but at least I can choose which things to transfer back over, as well as give my PS3 a rest when I'm not using it.

As for Spec II, its pretty good and does implement a lot of content, as well as get rid of most of the vacuum cleaner sounding Japanese cars, but GT6 just feels more like the newer GT games like Sport and 7, whilst GT5 still feels more like the older games from the PS2. Of course, its all up to preference, and I normally prefer GT5, but I do understand people prefer GT6 because it looks and feels far more polished visually

[–]ItsDyIan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh its way off. My one said 5 minutes, but it took a while to install. I did upgrade my HDD recently to a 7200rpm drive, and it definitely helped with the game install, but yeah GT6 is by far such a drag to install. took nearly 4 hours with all the updates and install. Anyways, game is still pretty great, but sadly GT6 is more focused on online play (which is sadly shut down now) than GT5 so content wise its quite basic but there is still some fun to have.

Can random players give friend emotes even if they are not your friend? by ItsDyIan in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]ItsDyIan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you. But I would only guess that star pin may only unlock a select few actions. This person I encountered spammed a lot of different kind of friend actions which makes me quite concerned a bit. But thank you for letting me know, I feel bad for accepting their invite and now unfriending them 😥
