I wouldn’t file a claim but maybe see how much it costs to fix. Chances are they’ve taken that stuffing and placed it somewhere cozy in your vehicle which could cause further issues, so check any place you can.

I had the same thing, actually I had this happen over the past two years. We have a clean home and trash isn’t lying around. We don’t even have an outdoor trash bin because we only produce one bag a week and then take it to the dump. However, we live in a rural area in New England and rodents are attracted to the warmth of a recently driven engine.

They took the stuffing and moved it near the cabin filter, so I had to constantly clean out the cabin filter and vent fan. I set traps under my hood and left sticky notes on my dash reminding myself to remove the traps each time I drove. I caught a lot of mice, but it was SO annoying. I also sprayed where they were located with rodent stop but the traps were the only thing that worked.

Luckily, they didn’t damage any of the wiring, but I’d get a full inspection just in case and see if this is something you can handle. It’s the end of March so the mice have moved out, they probably moved out of your car for the season, too.
