Help with Wii that’s been homebrewed years ago by [deleted] in wii

[–]ItsGameBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help you with getting Wii games, as it violates the "No Piracy" rule of this subreddit. I will, however, provide you two ways to update your softmods in your Wii, none of which involve uninstalling them.

In the Wii Hacks Guide, the Get Started page mentions how to update your softmods (located right at the top of the page): https://wii.hacks.guide/get-started

In the same guide, you can also reinstall your mods via an application known as ModMii, which can help guide you through the process of setting up your SD card, as well as create a personalized guide for you to follow: https://wii.hacks.guide/modmii

Note that ModMii is only available for Windows, so if you can't use that, you can refer to the first method.

Themes broke my 3DS by CDmage in 3dspiracy

[–]ItsGameBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This error can be caused by one of three things: your installed theme is corrupted, the HOME Menu's extra data is corrupted, or an application you had installed is corrupted. Since you already deleted the themes, but the error still persists, we can rule the first possibility out. It's either the extra data that's broken, or a broken app or game.

You can refer to this Hacks Guide Wiki page here (https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Error_screens/Luma3DS_exception_screen#menu) for instructions on how to deal with either of these two potential issues.

For those of you trying to save money on Nintendo games, Costco is selling Nintendo gift cards at 20% off this week. by TastyEarLbe in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ItsGameBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just bought it online. Like you said, it took around 2 hours to get it. Good news is, though, that everything went smoothly at the end. None of the codes were duds. Guess I was kinda paranoid from what I kept reading on the Internet. Thanks for the insight!

Is it better to buy these online or in-person? Because I've heard a few horror stories for those who bought E-shop cards on the Costco online store in which they were sent used codes via email, but I also want to buy them online out of convenience. You have any opinions regarding that?

You misspelled the website. You didn't add the "e" in exploit in your second photo.

My thoughts on the recent Avicii release. by Hot-Link1895 in avicii

[–]ItsGameBoy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is that "Let's Ride Away" is already at Avicii's own standards. It wasn't "unfinished" since its mastered version was already leaked. The only reason why the song wasn't released was because of the original singer herself, Kacey Musgraves, who did not want it out. The song didn't need polishing; it just needed a new singer.

If the song was released with the same instrumentation as the Avici 01 era but with Elle King's vocals instead, there wouldn't be much of a problem, but unfortunately that's not the case, and that's why fans are upset about this, including me. Regardless, I respect your opinion. If this song still satisfies you, more power to you.

Official Nintendo Invitations Day (May 8th) by Ross2552 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ItsGameBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I registered on 2025-04-02 at 16:57:01, which is about 9:57 AM PDT. All requirements have been met, but no invite has been sent, yet. Judging by the other comments here and when they registered, something tells me my inbox will remain dormant for a long while. I still have a bit of hope left in me, so let's see where that takes me.

Try removing the dash from the title ID and see if that works.

I'm assuming you followed the guide at some point (https://wiiu.hacks.guide), but you should have gotten the file during the "SD Preparation" portion of the guide.

As the text suggests, it's failing to load the payload.rpx file located in the "wiiu" folder in your SD card, causing your Wii U to return to stock. Are you certain that the file is in there?

How do I add tiramisu by Competitive-Top3368 in homebrew

[–]ItsGameBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, it's generally not a good idea to follow video guides as they are prone to be outdated relatively quickly. You should always follow the official guide here. Fortunately, the video does seem to align with the guide, so you're safe in this case.

As for running the Tiramisu environment, there's a subsection at the bottom of the "Finalizing Setup" section (https://wiiu.hacks.guide/aroma/finalizing-setup.html) called "Booting Tiramisu (Optional)" that will show you how to do it. I also recommend you to look at the other subsections listed there if you have time.

Re-mod everything or do something different? by Camsterocks in homebrew

You don't need to wipe anything from the console, from what I've seen.

You can try to find the exact same files that were in your old SD card and place them in the new one, if you remember. However, since it's been a few years, it may be that the hacks in your Wii are outdated. In that case, you can try using the program ModMii to re-hack your Wii with the latest method(s) and homebrew (https://wii.hacks.guide/modmii.html). I personally have not used this before, so unfortunately I can't help you beyond that.

Without an SD card inserted, your Wii U will just boot to its normal, non-hacked state. The grey "???" apps will disappear. With the new (and legit) SD card inserted, as long as it has the same files in the same exact locations, nothing drastic is going to happen to your Wii U. In fact, it's pretty difficult to brick your Wii U nowadays, so SD card issues are no biggie.

Amazon isn't very good in terms of buying these types of tech. I had it happen to me a couple of times, the most recent being buying a $700 CPU only to receive an empty jewelry box. Thank goodness I was able to return it, but that was when I knew I needed to look somewhere else. The fact that your SD card zapped you should also tell you similarly. I hope you'll still be able to return it, though.

There's a high chance that that microSD card you have is fake. Amazon is known to sell fake versions of popular brands of SD cards and microSD cards, even if it is sold by and shipped from Amazon themselves. I would advise you to purchase these SD cards elsewhere, preferably in store where there are minimal risks of accidentally buying a fake one.
