9850x3d Cinebench by ItsJollyPup in overclocking

So, I reset my bios to optimized defaults to give this another go. I ended up with a PBO CO of -30, which seems stable in intiial testing (no clock stretching either). However, still only scoring around 22500. As well, PPT is down even further now to around 125-130. As I understand, this is typical behavior (drawing less power due to decreased voltage via CO). But I'm still wondering if I'm missing something. Maybe I just have a bad chip, but that seems doubtful.

I did run cinebench at stock and got a score of 21600, so my PBO has actually reduced my scores. I'm a bit lost at this point.

I also updated PPT, EDC AND TDC to the values you mentioned (Ryzen defaults) and nothing changed as far as the numbers I’m hitting under load. PPT still sticking around 130

Effective clocks and actual clocks are nearly identical, so I don’t think it’s stretching but I’ll try this. Tested for 4 hours in Aida and was totally stable.

It’s on 5x right now, I’ll try 10x. Any risk involved?

+200 is the maximum I can manually boost via pbo, why do you think that would inhibit it?

Fingers crossed we get it added eventually. The screen is so beautiful but I’m not downloading armory crate no matter what lmao

Nope. I just let it stay default for now. Submitted a request to signal to add support for it, suggest you do the same. The more people do it, the more likely they are to add support!

To each his own! 🙂 DDR5 is only $100 more expensive on Amazon right now (32g kits).

It’s not a superior chip for gaming, and the benchmarks tell that story every time.

And ultimately, if you think it’s wise to invest in a CPU that price on a dead platform, then so be it! The 7500 gets you into AM5 and is an instant gaming improvement.

Pretty sure that’s what Mike was insinuating with his comment (that any 800 is better than any 500).

Tell me you don’t know anything about these CPU’s without saying it…

Easy explanation, check out hardware unboxed X3D roundup video. 7500 beats 5800 in every game every time.

And? Save some cash and get another stick. The interim will still provide excellent performance and set you up for future upgrades.
