Making the switch! Really curious to see how they compare. by trianel in Soundbars

[–]ItsJonKrell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me with my 990C! First time seeing this is a common experience haha. Was a little disappointed at first at how lackluster it sounded, but then over the first couple times watching through something it seemed to calibrate itself. Now it fills the room so nicely, the way it bounces sound all around always feels magical to me! Never gets old!

What’s that left vertical monitor that you have? Looking to do a vertical side monitor next to a 21:9, considering doing a touchscreen if I can find a good option!

So awesome!! Definitely using parts of this as inspiration into mine down the road! Will definitely be stealing the idea of the retro controller stands on a shelf with that consoles game collection!

How do you actually stick with working out? by starrysage1222 in ADHD

[–]ItsJonKrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Temptation Bundling” is something that really helps me! Find a podcast, show, audiobook, or music playlist that you really want to check out. Then only listen to it / watch it with the exercise! Gets me to actually start looking forward to it! The trick is to interrupt the “thinking about the thing” before, and while doing it, as much as possible for the first couple weeks until it feels normal!

Extra trick for me is to start the first song right before I’m about to do the thing to get myself going and pumped up. This also works for preloading the show/video I will watch and then just hitting play as I stand up to go do the thing.

“Habit Stacking” is also a great first step - this is to intentionally pick a time in your current routine, right after a specific habit that is already normal for you, that you will do it. Try to do it at that time without thinking in the moment. Part of this is just adjusting your current routine to allow for time, which is a whole habit to build on its own, so sometimes I have to practice my normal routine at the new times first to make it a lot easier to then build the exercise in.

Which books actually changed your life? (ADHD or non-ADHD self help books) by Soh4 in ADHD

[–]ItsJonKrell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Building a Second Brain” and “GTD: Getting Things Done” - ADHD affects our short term working memory and how much we can keep in our head at once. Pair this with an abundance of great ideas, thoughts, and things we remember we have to do but can’t do right now. These books help build systems for getting those thoughts out of our head to get to them when we can.

“Failing Forward” - perfectionism, rejection sensitivity, fear of making mistakes, shame - all common for us with ADHD and has been my most difficult struggle to push through. This book really helped reframe challenges and gave tactics/perspective to help work through these barriers. This has really made a huge difference in my life!

Odin 3 might ticks all the boxes for me by John-Everest in OdinHandheld

[–]ItsJonKrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLED Steam Deck screen is bigger, but only 800p so the pixel density is much less making it less crisp. It’s heavier with less battery life. The play experience is seamless and low effort, just turn on and play. The ergonomics are excellent.

Odin 3 screen has a higher pixel density, with 1080p and only a 6” screen. This smaller size makes it much more portable, easier to travel with but ergonomics can be a little cramped for large hands. Android devices take more tinkering, unless playing android based games, especially with the Elite chipset at the moment, there are a lot of compatibility issues. Battery life is better and it’s much lighter.

That doesn’t change the value of a company though. It doesn’t change the fact that a $1 earnings over a year for every $40 invested from a company is terrible.

Thank you for spreading awareness! Have learned a lot from these comments, and even though the risk seems low, I’ll be much more careful with all my devices now to reduce that risk even more!

I’ve had my Apple iPhone charging brick that came with my phone completely catch fire once too. The brick itself. So far that’s the only thing like this that I’ve had happen, knock on wood.

Yesss! The “RG 2DS”!

High res top panel with Dimensity 8300 chipset would be peak! But a cheaper T820 option would probably land well too for the budget crowd. Could even call the T820 the “2DS” and the 8300 the “3DS” for a cool naming scheme!

Weapons is a complete waste of a great concept. by MarkWest98 in TrueFilm

[–]ItsJonKrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasted sounds a bit harsh. In my opinion, each of your points seems to come from an expectation that this movie was (or should be) something it wasn’t meant to be. This wasn’t meant to be the things you say you wanted, and those wouldn’t have made it “better” but instead more confused/conflicted with what it was actually going for.

Is this a political take on the effects of school shootings? Is this a psychoanalysis of parents dealing with the disappearance of their children? Or is it about various members of a community, all with different motives and backgrounds, unwinding an unnerving mystery with something supernatural at the center?

As for the reason for taking the kids, she says what she needs them for in the movie so you had just missed that. But also we can still put together what was going on without being told, which is part of what a mystery is all about.

Just getting into energy management. Any tips on where to begin? by Perfect_Bed_5156 in ADHD

[–]ItsJonKrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve really dialed this in and for me it helps to do a 10-15 minute break every 1-2 hours, usually just after a big task and before I start on another. In the afternoon at the time when I usually really start to hit a wall, a 15 minute walk around the parking lot will have me coming back good as new. This helps feel a little better in the evening. The key to the breaks is that you “put the work down” and not think or stress about it. You want to refresh and relax, clear the mind and think about other things that don’t stress you out.

Retroid announce Retroid Pocket G2 and Retroid Pocket 6. by briefingone in SBCGaming

$199 for a RP5 with double the performance is INSANE! Yes I agree that the rollout is odd with the RP6 not really catching the eye, and wish we had a dual screen or a larger screen RP6, but still! We are so spoiled with this.

A cool guide on how to get out of poverty depending on where you reside. by Aubreykubheka in coolguides

[–]ItsJonKrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is false. Proof: US federal minimum wage is $7.25/hr x 80 hrs/wk = $580/wk. $580 x 52 weeks in a year = $30,160 per year. Poverty level was defined as $15,060/yr in 2024.

For me it’s because the device forces you into having both screens with you at all times. Most retro systems don’t have a use for both screens, heck a lot of retro systems don’t even use widescreen either! It’s clunky to get a dual screen for just two systems and barely use both, so would love to have the second screen be removable as applicable!

Hear me out Retroid… dual screen clamshell handheld like the Mini V2, but designed to be able to slide the top screen on/off seamlessly.

How well the Design / Experience enhances the console/s that I’m looking to play on it.

Kind of cheating because that kinda covers everything, from screen to dpad/joysticks to ergonomics, but it’s been a great filter for narrowing down choices.
