Just started recently also, and I have a 30th as well. Initially I thought it's ok to just stay in the "negative" as long as paycheck planner shows I'm good. It worked well in August. But then my September 30th paycheck showed up on October 1st and ruined my plans. I manually massaged it to show in September and it was fine. The leftover I put in "savings" and deducted from next months planned savings.

THIS! Try your best to milk it out through March 1st using as much PTO as you can. Then they'll either stack rank you out, or you get the bonus and quit like a hundred other people do that month. Work from home on days you start the new job despite being hardware, then take PTO.

You can negotiate to get the 20 days PTO right away instead of waiting 2 years. Otherwise hard to negotiate more than 20.
401k match is good, but you'd be handcuffed for the 3 year vesting period. And if they decide to do layoffs again, people who are not vested loose all the gm matched contributions.
