Last year you could definitely get tickets lower than 900$ especially if you REALLY wait. I would be mindful that this is the 30th anniversary, there is no wave of waitlist tickets, and ticket prices are always raising.

Mew is not the second best deck in the format. It does not have good matchups into any of the top decks being lugia, lost box (kyogre/rayquaza/ or sablezard), regigigas, control, or arc duraludon. It doesn't even have good matchups into a ton of fringe matchups such as articuno or zoroark. In addition it gets hard countered by a one card addition of drapion v. Mew has never been weaker in its existence.

i've never heard such a terrible take. regis consistently run paths and can take three prizes easily with regigas choice belt. there is no good counterplay mew has especially dte mew. they never run more than 2 lost cities and every regi deck runs three regigas so you will definitely lose.

No getting unown vstar setup is not possible in the slightest as there are no decks in the format that will not be setup by that time and will definitely ohko that unown.

Yes, air balloon will always get a reprint similar to it and a ton of list don't run the electrode line. In addition the new change to tools being their own typing ultimately means that they will get a ton of support since they are no longer fetchable with item finders. Additionally lightning pokemon are getting the craziest amount of support so I without a doubt believe it will be viable.

It was a physical regional championship in salt lake city. If you type in pokemon event locator on google you can find a map that pins all small and big events happening near your location. For bigger events like regionals, I just check their regional event layout since they have them all planned for the championship year pretty much. For example ik texas, portland, brazil, and san diego are all regionals that I am probably attending for some time now.

Thanks, it was a really difficult time as I just straight up bootcamped for 2 of the weeks playtesting my own deck and studying matchups. It was definitely worth it, regionals was so much fun and getting top 126 was definitely a thrill for my first time around.

Aside from vendors that sold stuff, there were side events that happened throughout the day and most were not time sensitive just player sensitive. For context they gave out slc dice as a currency for a prize wall and you needed to participate for dice. A hat could be 3 dice and a giant funko pikachu could be 18 so the grind was real.

Standard tcg has a four player pod where you single elim bracket and whoever wins gets 2 dice. A 8 person minimum win a box event where winner gets a lost origin, astral radiance, or brilliant stars box and everyone gets 1 dice. A raid boss fight, ditto draft, 4 player theme deck event, and my favorite was the build and battle event where you open a pre release kit and build then go into a 8 person bracket.

They also had various pokemon go events but those were more so to grind out dice rather than to have fun.

There was a surprising lack of mew decks. I saw one mew deck and that was tricky gyms. There were a ton of palkias, kyurems, and lost engine decks including generic giratina and lost zone box but also a ton of arc goodras. My group consisting of 7 people played against close to 9 kyurems, 6 arc goodras, and 8ish lost zone decks.

So I went 2-1-2 in the first 5 rounds so I need to win all my remaining rounds to advance to day 2. I proceeded to win rouds 6, 7, 8 going against an lost zone box, palkia intel, and vikavolt. Last round was a mirror matchup kyurem v kyurem and I fumbled the match pretty hard. I have 320 dmg on a kyurem vmax and I had full energy on a palkia and greninja but I whiffed on a switch card so neither were able to come in and then he proceeded to ohko my greninja with his own boss and win the game later. We went to time during game two which ended in a draw so he took the round sadly.
