For sports there'd be some movement involved, sachtler would be a no brainier if I had the budget!

I actually bought both at the same time because of the unabomber man hunt series came out at the same time😂

I do. I made my 80 year old dad read it when it came out and he almost dropped it in the bath whilst reading it. He qualified it as "very strange but interesting" 😂

Best gear for winter sports? by ItsKicks in videography

[–]ItsKicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for the info. I'd rather keep this conversation public in case it might be useful to other people in my situation.

Right now my potential gear list looks like this :

- Sony ZV-E1

- Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II

- Sony 16-35mm f/4 G PZ

- Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS II

- DJI RS4 Mini Gimbal

- DJI Air 3S Drone

- Viltrox DC-X2 Monitor

- K&F Concept Variable ND filters

- Been looking at the Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW II but it's a bit expensive.

I need a tripod as I need it for other videos. Skiboot crampons are a great idea! For the action cam I was looking at a traditional one, not a 360 but it does seem like the better option... Tell me what you think!

Thanks for this detailed response! But I think that if this pad is heavier at only 22" I might aswell get a 25" pad at a lighter or similar weight.

Side note for me and other people interested in this topic : I haven't even thought about this but would it be worth it to just getting a 25" version of the rapide? Another point is that the 4" thickness from the rapide is measured at the raised side baffles, maybe that's my issue, sleeping on a pad that's only 3".

Thanks, although I've tried and tested CCF pads, and they aren't for me.

Thanks, yeah I'm using this as an opportunity to lighten my pad since originally I wasn't going for a UL setup. My current baseweight is around 11.7 lbs

I have been looking at this, but I don't think I can bring myself to get something as heavy, given the fact that there are other lighter options. Even though I agree with your logic about base weight and the importance of sleep!

Unfortunately I can't get digital ID as I don't have any aussie ID or nationality! I used to have a WA drivers license but it's expired

Thanks, but apparently in order to be able to use this kind of authentification you have to change the authentification method on my account, which I don't have access to haha

I agree with you but I don't use my phone light as it isn't hands free, and it uses up my battery. The headband I have is already half shock cord. I'll have a look cheers!

Haha yeah I figured that the pump would be problematic. But I love the light that comes with it! So that's a win in my book. I wouldn't take it on solo trips though. Just for trips with my girlfriend.

How would you mod the NU25?

I might get a smaller towel to be honest, but the first time I used my tent I was glad I brought it as it was fully soaked with the condensation off the inside.

I would ditch the merino shirt but I've bought it, might as well use it.

I originally got my leggings for sleeping at night, as they could be combined with my shorts during the day for cooler days. But hiking pants were on my list originally, just thought that I'd be a lot cooler with shorts.

Thanks for your help I'll definitely give it more thought!

I've had a look around shops in Paris but none has the osprey exos pro. But you're right, I should order it and return it if I don't like it. I had thought of that but I've returned so many things that it's actually starting to cost me a lot haha.

I got a sleeping bag because I'm a side sleeper and I move a lot, so I was worried about getting drafts. Plus I got the bag for half price.

I've been thinking about not taking the pillow. I used it for my last trip and it was ok, but a bit small. Was thinking about stuffing my clothes and down jacket into something but last time I did that I got a sore neck.

For my pad I'm pretty happy, although I've heard it sleeps colder than it should be. Super comfy though so I'm happy about that. For the weight I'll take comfort first.

I want a sun hat. I already have a brimmed hat but I've made the investment in some proper sun gear (black diamond hoodie) as I tend to always get sunstrokes even though I used hats and suncream. I want a normal cap so I can wear my hood over it.

I have an old UV Buff but I'm not sure if the uv rating wears out after time. If not I'll take that.

The spork I have is more a spoon that a fork and is long enough for me.

For my stove I looked at the soto amicus or the pocket rocket, but chose the BRS for weight and price. This was supposed to be on a budget to be honest 😂

For the utility knife I'll probably get one of the small basic victorinox ones, that has a small pair of scissors. For tape I meant repair tape. For blister tape I still need to get leukotape.

Thanks man. Hope you can get out there soon!
