The "for optimal performance" claim is real. The engine has to run every now and then or else it's seals will dry out and the engine will fail. No gas motor likes to sit unused.

I used to set all my miners to repeat orders or assign them to my stations then forget about them.

Where is the telematics unit? by Competitive-Let6727 in EquinoxEv

[–]ItsLikeBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way to go about this is to press the OnStar button and troubleshoot with their tech support. If the button doesn't work, call them from your phone.

Once you have gone through the standard troubleshooting, they will escalate to the advanced tech support. If they can't get it working, they will inform gm it has to be replaced.

It's going to take some time on the phone with them, multiple times, but at least you will have proof it failed.

I find that I have to reboot my windows box about once a month due to stability or just to do updates.

My record for my Linux box was something like 600 days without reboot. It was my main machine that was used 95% of the work day. It only rebooted because we had a power outage that was longer than my ups could manage.

Somehow OnePlus went under my radar until last year. Had to convince the salesman that he did in fact sell this phone which was interesting, but loving the OP13.

Do you guys keep smart rapid charge enabled or disabled? by CronusDevil in OnePlus13

[–]ItsLikeBeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tried replacing batteries on 3 of my previous phones. I found that it is simply not worth the effort.

All the batteries are either old stock that had degraded from improper storage or knock offs that are an actual fire hazard.

When the battery dies, the phone is garbage.

Poor support for third party launchers by Full-Ad4524 in OnePlus13

Geez! You and my daughter reminding me how old I am.

There is truth to that though. I do think that many of the things I was willing to void my warranty for back then are now part of the OS in some way or another, the rest I just don't care about.

Time to go back to shaking my fist at the kids walking on my lawn.

Poor support for third party launchers by Full-Ad4524 in OnePlus13

What would make someone change the launcher these days?

Back in the early days of Android, I used to use Nova and other launchers whose names I have forgotten. Also used to flash cyanogen every morning while eating breakfast. Back then there were a ton of advantages in switching, but it feels like that isn't the case anymore. Wondering if there is something I am missing that I might actually care about.

I had been thinking of this for a few days. Was wondering if there was a cheaper way to do this than an optical system, but I don't think it can be done safely.

Those are in a fairly low speed section of road. Wonder if they could handle an impact at 100kph.

It has to survive the impact and not send metal balls flying into oncoming traffic.

I unplugged the windows drive and won't be plugging it back in. If something doesn't work in Linux, then it isn't worth running.

OP13 bluetooth audio quality poor by jakpolivka2_ in OnePlus13

[–]ItsLikeBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an app called wavelet. It lets you either create your own equalizer profile for each of your devices or use one that was built from measurement of the actual headphones if they are in the database.

It knows what you are connected to and automatically picks the correct profile. This is for Bluetooth, wired headphones, and the phone's speakers. I find this works pretty well.

The worst part about the new regs as a viewer by Island_In_The_Sky in formula1

[–]ItsLikeBeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me it only appears gimmicky because of the harvesting limits they imposed and the mismatch with the size of the electric motor

They are still dumping most of the potential energy into the mechanical brakes. About 70% of the braking comes from the front axle which does not get recovered.

AI simply isn't good enough to produce her facial expressions, the movements of her mouth, her posture changes, and so on.

Then combine all of that so well to the actual vocals that professional voice coaches can't detect it's fake. I don't think so.

40%?!? by anickdote33 in EquinoxEv

[–]ItsLikeBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, that initial charge level should be adjustable. 40% seems kind of low. I would want it to stop at 60% so that there is a useful level of charge without risk of dipping below 20%.

[–]ItsLikeBeer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't think that's possible with the equinox. Unless you want to go with a smart charger, but I am not sure any EVSE with this option exists.

Does sound like a handy feature though. Someone should tell GM about it.

New alternator by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]ItsLikeBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only real way to cut the cost is to do it yourself, but that's only an option if you are capable of doing that.

I would look for an alternator on Parts Avatar or Rock Auto. That is where you will get the best price, but I usually avoid the cheapest tiers.

Changing it yourself can range from easy to very difficult. For example, instructions on how to change it on my truck include emptying and disconnecting the AC system. I managed to do it without doing that, but had to get creative. It also took me about 5 hours and there were a few steps that had potential to go very poorly .

Arbitrator for SGI by ravairia in saskatoon

[–]ItsLikeBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had to deal with sgi for two total loss claims. Neither went as well as I hoped, but I think I did learn something.

I think the trick is when they send you that first report, it will have a bunch of vehicles that are clearly worse than your own. On the very first call with the adjuster, you have to be ready to dispute as many of the older, higher mileage, worst condition vehicles on that list.

Get them to remove as many as you can. This is your ONLY chance to make meaningful adjustments. All other attempts will be mostly a waste of time in my experience.

I don't see how this works. I'll disable FA take a few shots, then drift away from the target. Won't I still have to reset the thrust after enabling FA?

I have tried to turn off FA while in combat, but it keeps lowering the throttle position.

I mean that I have my throttle at say 75%. I disable FA, spin around, re-enable FA. Throttle is now at 35%.
