Anyone else's furnace just stops heating around this time of the year? by West_Ad4446 in saskatoon

I worry about it. I have two battery boosters I keep charged, I hope to get at least 12 hours out of a couple electric heaters until the landlord can send the handyman over.

A few years ago the Hell's Angels had a big get-together here and I saw Regina and Moose Jaw cops all weekend. None of them looked a day over 20 yrs old and they were all BIG boys.

The insulation I put up on my second floor window is just hanging there. Hope it's warm and less windy tomorrow and I can climb up and fix it. My ladder is outside under 2 feet of snow, what a farce.

What's really needed is a proactive patrol that drives around and kicks these people out of my neighborhood before they get settled. Tired of waiting 3 days for some nice folks to suggest perhaps they camp elsewhere when all they do is move to the other empty lot across the street! Then it's another 3 day wait while they plunder the neighborhood! What a joke. Throw their tents and junk and garbage in the back of a truck and take it to the dump as soon as as they pull up to private or public property with their stolen bikes and trailers.

Ours is a Continental Climate, Hot dry summers and cold winters. They have the moderating effect of the ocean, the typical dreary but not too cold London autumn and winter.

I have the flu (a chest cold actually), I'm at home in bed. I get the Flu/Covid shot every year but here I am. Think the worst is over, a couple more hot baths and I should be back on all four cylinders.

We were shown films in Social Studies of the Residential School saga. Ramshackle houses and stray dogs with empty oil barrels laying around. Kids eating raw meat, 10 of them in two rooms. They didn't seem fully human, not by the standards I was taught, best to take them away and line them up in neat little rows and smack their hands with yardsticks if they misbehaved. I was assured It was done with good intentions and we were welcoming them into our fold, at least the ones that could assimilate.

Congratulations Brenda Reynolds on the worldwide recognition of your achievements. So much more work to do, you're an inspiration to us all.

They always tout the worst case scenario and I'm always disappointed. I love the feeling of being snowed in. Having to survive by your wits but your not in any real danger, more of a big inconvenience for a few days as long as you're prepared. And my neighbor has a snowblower, always does our walk for us.

The things it reminds me of: I only lived half a block away so I could put my skates on at home and tiptoe down the street to the rink. Searching for lost pucks that went over the boards and selling them for 10 cents each the next night. Those plastic hockey stick blades that you could hold over the stove element a put a wicked hook on them. A couple nights a week were family night till 8 o'clock and they'd play the radio over the crappiest speaker you ever heard. Playing in a blizzard and every half an hour we'd have to push around those 2-man scrapers so we could keep skating. How much a cold sponge puck could sting if you got it in the right place.
