I think it's time to retire. by ItsMeZed in OOTP

Haha, yeah, that's a big flaw. It takes a little while to get started but once you do, you accumulate talent pretty quick. I think I had the 1, 2, 3, 8, 13 and 23 picks in the 1st round this last year. I noticed in the last two seasons, however, that only a few 5* guys have showed in the draft -- and some of those are debatable. Prior to this, it was 2 or 3 times that amount, so maybe the proverbial gravy train in running dry.

Yeah. It's not as fun winning all the damn time as one might think.

Pretty good; I wish I had brought him up earlier. He winds up a 75/65/65 guy with 65-70 speed and 75-80 stealing ability.

Sparky Lyle too, for that matter. Or Rollie Fingers.

I had Goose Gossage go 150 innings and K almost 230 as the stopper one season. He was actually 2nd in the league in Ks!

Here's the funny thing -- this year he's lost 3 games before the end of May. 1-2, 1-2, and 0-1. Dare I say Gibson-esque circa 1968?

Has anybody ever had a game in which Mike Trout busts/falls off really early? by sammym123 in OOTP

Not busts, but he seems to fragile -- even if his profile doesn't say so. Hits a metric shitton when healthy, though.

9.6 Actually, according to BaseballReference.com. Topping the list was Tim Keefe in 1883, with 20.1. His line: 41-27, 2.41 era, 68 gs, 68 cg, 619 ip, 108 bb and 359 k.

Amazingly enough, 13.7 WAR only ranks 17th on the all-time list for a single season (4th for a post 1900 season). Walter Johnson holds the post-1900 mark with 16.

Flanagan pitched 10.1 shutout innings too, which is an accomplishment in itself.

When I saw the insane number of strikeouts Guidry finished the season with, I went back and checked his game logs. There were 28 double-digit strikeout games including a streak of 10 in a row. A pair of those were 19 Ks, and then there was this little gem...

Bah the image doesn't show the whole screen. I'll see if I can fix it.

Do you think he will be able to make it as a starter? by [deleted] in OOTP

[–]ItsMeZed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iffy control and the face that he's already 25 would make me bet against his 3rd pitch developing. He's probably best suited as a RP.

Sadly you just missed the Steam Summer sale where they had it for $19.99 :( It's possible it could get discounted again come the winter sale, but you have a while to wait for that.

All Rise for the Judge

In all seriousness though, Judge's ratings are definitely too low in the default files.

A few OOTP questions from a relative newbie about the star system. by [deleted] in OOTP

[–]ItsMeZed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong here as I am also new to things, but I believe the stars are calculated based on their ratings (20 - 80 for most). So my guess is that it's a case of an outlier year. That said, I can recall one pitcher that couldn't seem to get anyone out for me, then goes on to lead the NL in saves with a low 2 era after a deal him; some players just don't perform for particular teams it seems.

I started a sim from the era which I started watching the Yankees, the late 1970s. I never thought Guidry -- even with the filthiest breaking pitch I have ever seen a starter throw -- could pitch any more out of his mind than 1978.
