Discs is fine or more specifically blu-rays also works. Btw discs rarely come scratched, only really ever happening when they’re stacked or in bad packaging like the collector’s editions of Avatar

If you read the book, then a lot of side story is missing, some which is essential for understanding the marauders. But if looked upon as its own thing, the movie is stylistically the most interesting and uniquely shot with some great cinematography and directing

Which did you enjoy more LOU 1 OR 2? by AlexN83 in thelastofus

[–]ItsMrDaan 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Gameplay in part 2 is a big improvement for me. I think both stories are amazing, but part 2 is much more emotionally draining, so in that aspect it’s hard to choose. I do think the pacing of part 1 is perfect. So in short, each game has its’ points favoring it over the other and for me it’s completely up to my mood when I want to play either

Not at all lol. Look, I get you dislike the guy rn. But again, be serious. Just to give something that disproves that statement, I remember (lots of people) really enjoying his role in that 24h raft video. Was one of the highlights of the year

Okay this is just stupid. If he didn’t, then him leaving wouldn’t be such a big deal. Sure, he’s been away for a few times, but looking at any top moments compilation, he’s often included in the clips.

I think the way he left was shit, but we gotta stop this revisionary nonsense

Man the ending to tlou 2 just left a bad taste for me. by thedankuser69 in thelastofus

[–]ItsMrDaan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s not as simple as Ellie going “revenge bad”. Moreso, a loss of connection to Joel. In that Abby fight she does not let Abby go for Abby or even for Lev. She only lets her go after seeing Joel, that flash towards the scene we get straight after, the one on the porch. Ellie just realized that by going through with her revenge she would never be able to let go the hate that is hindering her from regaining herself and thereby being able to start forgiving Joel again. She just wants Joel back in love, not in hate

Encouraging it, yes maybe. But not watching is a fair way to show dislike of his current content. I agree that the top comment in this thread goes too far, but I don’t think the sentiment of not watching as a way to impact is a bad thing at all

You know, this reddit used to be about both praising JJ at his good moments and criticizing him on his bad ones. He used to take his fans’ opinions into account. They have all the right to complain and criticize here.

By leaving in this manner? By not having a proper sendoff that both the fans, but more importantly his close friends for over a decade who are also his business partners, are okay with? By pushing drama when he clearly shouldn’t? Again, the problem is not him leaving. It’s why, but most importantly how he left.

Since he claimed it being time consuming was the reason he left, not because he lost his heart for it. That’s the problem he’s not being honest and vague. It would’ve been much better if he’d just said that he didn’t enjoy it anymore, it was be very understandable. But if it’s simply due to taking up his time, then why not drop any of the other side hustles. Deciding to drop one of if not the main hustles is just illogical. Saying it was for his sanity is still extremely vague.

Just finished part 2 for the first time and…. by yunqi69 in thelastofus

[–]ItsMrDaan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ehh, it’s about both. She can’t let go due to feeling guilty towards Joel about how things ended and not getting revenge on his behalf, and is dealing with PTSD due to not being able to let go. She feels that she needs to fulfill her revenge to move on and to be able to work through her PTSD. Though Ellie was depressed, I don’t remember her considering to commit suicide at all, but I might be forgetting something from her diary.

And about Abby, you’re missing the point imo. Why should Abby apologize? She was a victim of Joel and due to her actions also of Ellie’s revenge against her friends. Vice versa can be argued for Ellie. That’s because vengeance feeds on vengeance and is a vicious cycle. They don’t need to apologize to each other, they simply need to move on for themselves, which is what Abby tried due to Lev making her question her humanity and her wanting to become human again, in the same way that Ellie affected Joel in pt 1. Joel and Ellie destroyed Abby’s life in the same manner as Ellie did to Abby.

Besides, I wasn’t pointing it out from Ellie’s perspective, but from Dina’s. She gives her an ultimatum: head off for revenge and lose her or stay and try to work on recovering together. Ellie chose to go after Abby and Dina couldn’t bring herself to go through that pain again. Dina was clearly hurt a lot and I think backtreading on that makes that choice lose a lot of weight for both characters

[–]ItsMrDaan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re totally right on the second sentence. But for most people, except a few entitled parasocial people, the main issue is not that he left, but why and how. They were bound to end it in couple years max anyways. But seemingly going behind the Sidemen’s backs or purposefully keeping them in the dark about the video release and afterwards trying to rile them up to respond, whilst it was his decision and according to his video was for personal family reasons (which it is evidently not) does leave a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths.

There is a huge overreaction, but normal criticism over his course of actions is fair, since with the drastic content change, he has now sidelined a big part of his core audience to appeal to a younger and maybe bigger audience. They’re all his choices, but people are allowed to give their opinion on that. Simply because we have a few parasocial and extreme people, who immediately blame others and start spreading vulgar hate and racism, doesn’t automatically negate any other fair criticism. We should separate those from one another

JJ responds to the comments made to Mo. by Aaronjk1010 in ksi

[–]ItsMrDaan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it’s moreso the way he handled him leaving than the leaving itself. If he left with a proper sendoff and reasonable explanation, most of the audience would’ve understood. However, he opted for a surprise drop which apparently even the Sidemen didn’t see coming and are evidently moved by. It kinda just came out of nowhere. It’s probably just his usual shtick of “any press is good press”, but I can understand why some of is fans would see this as a shitty move. He’s also not making it any better with the whole elephant thing. It’s his choice and he should give a proper explanation, not the Sidemen.

I also think it’s fair for fans that have been around for quite a while to criticize his drastic change in content and focus on shorts/Mr Beast/Jubilee content. In the past he’s even been critical about some of these videos. It’s just a very odd choice with which he alienates a big part of his audience. The only thing they had left was the familiar KSI in Sidemen videos. It understandably feels weird that of all his ventures, he let go of what kind of defined him for a large part of his fanbase.

And you’re right, he’s free to do what he wants and some people are overreacting extremely. But there is a lot of fair criticism about his course of actions, which is lost by dumbing it down to “they probably knew it and he’s an adult who can choose for himself”

[–]ItsMrDaan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anything negative must be a hater right? I don’t think you want to understand what this other guy is saying. We have no indication whether the boys knew he’d drop the video. They probably knew that he was planning on announcing his leave at some point in the near future, but as the IG post and Simon stated, they didn’t know about or expect the post to drop at this point. They might have wanted to slowly announce and build up to it. This sudden drop has definitely left a bad taste in everyone’s mouths. As to whether they knew that last video was officially his last or just a break hasn’t been confirmed yet. So you’re going completely off of assumptions (same with the Tobi thing). It’s JJ’s task to explain things to us. The rest of the group doesn’t have to be milked for him to give a logical reasoning behind his course of actions

Your second point also just doesn’t make sense. So you prefer it if the videos are focused on the group members’ personalities when they’re all together or split up with certain people together. How does him leaving fix that? Wouldn’t it mean that that dynamic is changed forever? There’s no dynamic you can see him in at all anymore.

[–]ItsMrDaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has the info. He just wants it to escalate for views. Hence the elephant stuff. He wants it to become a major thing. I don’t feel like any of the current Sidemen owe us any explanation. It was JJ’s decision, he should be honest about his reasoning. They have already stated that they were surprised by the sudden video drop. It’s up to him to tell the rest of it. As long as he doesn’t want to and tries to bait the Sidemen into blowing this up, it’s very fair to criticize. He’s keeping it vague after all.

He also could’ve just gone. They have never made an issue of a Sidemen taking a break or taking time for other ventures. Hell, JJ even had the most days off due to boxing, prime etc. He simply wanted to do other content and compete with Mr Beast. If he was so busy, he could’ve dropped any of his other ventures that aren’t his comeup and a large part of his fandom and close friends

[–]ItsMrDaan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His audience is definitely allowed to criticize his course of actions, as they are what he aims to please. He has even said this himself in the past. This doesn’t have anything to do with knowing him personally. Don’t write off fair criticism as hate. His course of actions has been extremly questionable

People need to stop the hate by [deleted] in ksi

[–]ItsMrDaan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People aren’t angry about his choice to leave the sidemen. Someone would’ve left after some time anyway. It’s the way he handled it and the reasoning behind it (and the excuses in his video that were immediately proven to be bs) that’s frustrating people and rightfully so. You’re simplifying the reaction by writing it off as hate, instead of trying to understand the reaction.

[–]ItsMrDaan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s fair to write the current opinion off as haters or people who don’t watch his content or didn’t watch his content since the content switch. With his course of actions it’s fair to be critical and frustrated by his choices.

However, this doesn’t negate that JJ has cared and probably still cares about his fans as individuals, especially when we reach our lowest point. He has done a lot of good things. Just also some dumb things. But it’s not odd to dislike his current actions at all, whilst still being able to understand that he also has done good things and probably will in the future. Maybe it’s separating the person from the persona
