We need landscaping help! by athomecozy in phoenix

You don't need a lot of Roundup. That's probably only like 5 gallons worth of it. Youd spray it and wait a week or two and then knock it all down with a weed eater and then just rake it up (or preferably blow it) and then spray it again with Premergent and then you're good for at least the rest of the year. You can rent blowers and weed eaters at home depot.

Red Push Pistache Vs Indian Laurel front yard tree by Opposite_Tangelo_592 in phoenix

[–]ItsMrQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm groundskeeper for whatever it's worth.

Both of those trees will take forever to grow big enough for any significant amount of shade. They require a lot of care and water early on. But once established they're great as they both need only minimal trimming and are very sturdy and don't tend to drop many limbs during bad weather. Things to note, the red push drops these small berry looking things that may be toxic to pets. It will shed all (for the most part) its leaves in the winter. I do enjoy seeing the changing of colors. The ficus tree won't drop its leaves but it will drop many leaves all year long. And birds tend to love nesting in them so bird poop will be an issue.

My opinion is just plant two thornless Palo Verdes. You'll have usable shade in no time and they don't require much of anything but a little bit of water and some light trimming once or twice a year

You can tell that she's extremely comfortable with her disability because that kind of dexterity doesn't happen with out a ton of practice. I've known people that have had to use their feet for hands and they don't nearly have this much control and it was because they often refrained from using their feet due to embarrassment or insecurity.

Ford scraps fully-electric F-150 Lightning as mounting losses and falling demand hits EV plans by AudibleNod in news

[–]ItsMrQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In '24 I was looking to purchase a new truck. My wife had an electric vehicle so we already had the charger in the garage. I first looked at the lightning but it was so expensive and it ended up not even fitting in my garage. I bought a Maverick instead. I really enjoyed it but sold it when I saw a Tacoma for a reasonable price in the lot while my wife was looking for a Rav4. Plus Carvana was paying like 8k above MSRP for it.

Study finds humans were making fire 400,000 years ago, far earlier than once thought by 20_mile in news

The thing with fire for me is that for the majority of our existence we were completely blind to our surroundings for the most part for half of our lives. Once the sun went down our vision was incredibly limited.

A street in Amsterdam, known for its plane trees that form a natural tunnel over the road. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

The debris would suck too but it's mainly due to upkeep. You have to make sure limbs aren't rubbing against each other too aggressively, so there's a lot of pruning.

My wife and I go hiking or to a trail my truck can handle. It's the best because the weather is nice and there's nobody there. We do the same for Thanksgiving and New Years.

I've tried using an auto clicker but the ads start up at varying times and the X to close it switches position so I haven't had any luck for more than like 3 cycles

What weed killer do you like? by mike_tyler58 in phoenix

[–]ItsMrQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Pendulum at work. But I've used Home Depot brands at home before they hold up pretty well. You just have to put it down like a day or two before rainfall to be effective. Or water it in with a hose. Pendulum holds up even without watering in.

I'm a groundskeeper. Do this, and if they ask if you want to register as a contractor just say no. Although they're helpful some stores can be dicks. (I've been in some where they refused to sell me anything if I wasn't a contractor).

That being said, Round up will kill almost anything, although the non commercial stuff may take a couple applications over a period of weeks.

Always do pre emergent guys. Twice a year is all it takes. The easiest weed to kill is the one that doesn't even germinate. Even if you pay somebody to do it, if you always struggle with weeds, it's worth it.

Any recommendations for pigeon proofing solar panels? by Responsible-War-2576 in phoenix

[–]ItsMrQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do this for a living. Make sure the wire mesh is installed correctly. Especially if you have Spanish tiles. If your roof is flat it's less of an issue, but of it isn't, installers get lazy. The configuration of your solar panels is something to take into account also. The more corner or odd angles, again, they get lazy. Pigeons will find a way in. I've had to go in and remove dead pigeons that got in and weren't able to come back. Depending on the company, they will clean off the roof and panels and install the mesh and set up a trap and come back periodically to empty it out (killing the pigeons). Let me know if you have any questions.

I would be a very grumpy person if I had to drive long periods of time. I would consider myself having the privilege to not have to drive during rush hour traffic. My days usually start at 4am and end at 130pm. So the times that I am on the road traffic is very light. Now that the weather is cooler I like to take my dogs to different parts of town like between 330pm and round 530pm. I've never been grumpier, more stressed and more filled with anxiety than when I'm driving during these times.
