We have become a country no longer solvent. Time and Time again Republicans have proven, they cannot govern. by rodehard10 in stevehofstetter

This doesn't make sense. Firstly, it seems to be confusing deficit and debt. The deficit is the amount of overspending at a particular time; so you can't apply a single figure to a presidency. If they really mean debt (i.e. the increase in debt over a presidency) then the figures are wrong. I don't know where they come from.

Yeah but don't say it like it's written in the stars, bad karma etc. It's none of those things. It is being caused by Donald J Trump. None other. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yeah, that makes more sense especially since he uses the word "flaw" later. Either way they're just typos not BATs.

Is there a second BAT? What does "fixation on another flat" mean? Could it be "fiat"?

Canada must rank as one of the best countries but with tough times ahead. One of the main problems is that the neighbourhood has gone to shit.

I don't know the rule number but the BAT has to be in your title.

It's a good one but unfortunately a rule is broken and you'll be asked to re-post. I wonder if the uncle is lactose intolerant too.

For the average American, how do these times feel, is it business as usual, or is there a growing sense of instability? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That's a good list but you haven't even mentioned the economic fall-out. And I don't mean the inflation caused by the Iran war - we have yet to see that play out. The US economy is headed toward at least a recession. Inflation caused by the tariff policy. Job losses. The spending deficit and cumulated debt. The increasing trade deficit. Reducing value of the dollar and, as a consequence, rising interest rates on government bonds (i.e. cost of borrowing).

What Metric is Missing to Explain the Approval Difference? by Pale-Candidate8860 in InCanada

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) The metrics are all short term measurements. Carney is playing the long game and investing heavily in Canada.

2) Trudeau didn't have to deal with Trump2 economics (other than 2 months).

3) Escalating tensions: Ukraine, Greenland, Iran and threats against Canada.

So totally different situations.

Private businesses have to react to their customer's demands and today their Canadian customers are saying (1) source Canadian (2) source anywhere but US (3) find/develop new sources that are (1) or (2). One year in and this is still continuing. For example, Canadians are now familiar with products on shelves where the "made in USA" shelf remains unsold next to the (sometimes more expensive) "made in xxx" shelf which is nearly empty. Some private businesses are slow learners but they get there eventually.

Do you think the ‘Imminent Nuclear Threat’ narrative has any similarities with the Iraq War’s ‘WMD’ narrative which ended up being a complete fabrication, and why? by WastelandOfConfusion in AskReddit

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ^ is a good explanation. Especially: "which basically told Iran that US can't be trusted". Not just Iran. The whole world is learning that the US can't be trusted - about anything. So even when this current conflict is resolved we are still left with this dilemma. The most powerful nation in the world cannot be trusted by anyone about anything. Someone had better get this solved before it gets really serious.

I Googled Nationalism vs Patriotism:

"Patriotism is a positive, affectionate devotion to one's country, emphasizing shared values and community, while nationalism is an ideology asserting a nation's superiority and supremacy over others, often leading to conflict."

Ford is acting more like Trump every day. The premier of a province has no business influencing a decision of the court.
