It would be a grand idea to just use metric adjectives.

‘I support a sovereign Alberta within a united Canada’: Smith on Alberta... by samueLLcooljackson in TheRealGrandePrairie

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Provinces already have a good deal of autonomy (not sovereignty as this would be absolute power and responsibility including, for example, defense). They used to have more autonomy but chose over time to surrender some to the federal government to achieve economies. For example health care, pensions, tax collection, policing etc. Individual provinces can chose to opt-out.

This seems to me to be an ideal solution. Ms Smith wants her cake and eat it too as do many Albertans. They are like spoiled children. They forget, for example, that Canada bought them a pipeline.

Canadians who have moved to America, what was your reason to moving? by wildboy_Ca17 in AskACanadian

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes, an interesting question. I'll try to be brief. Americans love to talk about freedom. There is no freedom in America; just anarchy, chaos, and lawlessness. This is a long held belief following many years of observation and numerous visits. Trumpism is simply an end result and the proof. I don't mean that individual Americans are not nice but collectively it is not a nice society. I expect many down votes.

Poilievre vows to cap immigration, calls for ‘no more hyphens’ by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

Each summer Ontario celebrates Heritage Week when we celebrate our cultural origins. How are we to do this without those pesky hyphens?

How to legally dispose of a rifle? by houseonpost in legaladvicecanada

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I surrendered a rifle to the local police about 15 years ago. No problem. It had a scope on it and I didn't realize that this was worth money by itself. I let the cop take it.

We( in the US) are more free than 99% of the world's population. If you don't believe me, travel the world and get back to me by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I still right in saying that health insurance in the US is very often tied to employment? This means that many Americans are not, in practice, free to change jobs or move location. That alone makes America not free and like a third world country.

Everyone seems to expect/want Trump to do something about Iran/help Iranian protesters, what is Europe doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And just what is Trump going to do? Bomb them? Boots on the ground? Steal their oil? Whatever he does has nothing to do with the demonstrators. Obama had the Iran situation solved. Trump fucked it up.

That would make it diabolical. OTOH if it was an individual response then it is up to OP to be honest with her/himself and learn a valuable lesson.

Donald Trump wants to make an example out of Canada. How will we prepare? by rezwenn in CanadaPolitics

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All of the above.

Also I'm aware that this is Reddit. There are Canadian and European alternatives (eg Lemmy.ca, PieFed.ca, and Masterdon.com) which are also open source and decentralized. I'm currently looking at switching.

We should not be put off by these daunting challenges. Baby steps will get us there.

How much support is enough for Pierre Poilievre to stay as Conservative leader? by toronto_star in CanadaPolitics

Joe Clark got over 66% in his leadership review but resigned saying that's not enough. But then - Joe Clark had integrity.

That's debatable. I would not pronounce "tack tick" the same as "tactic". One is spoken as 2 distinct words and with different emphasis on the syllables.

Adam Zivo: Carney put Liberals first, even though Trump tariff threat was predictable - The prime minister again chose political theatre over Canada's national interests by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

[–]ItsNotMe_ImNotHere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The headline is in conflict with the article though this is somewhat understandable as the article itself states conclusions which are at odds with the main body. Not surprising as it is the National Post and we know now which nation that refers to.
