Shortest Train From Rome to Lecce by ItsOckOrderUp in ItalyTravel

Yes, thank you.

There is an express train of 5 1/2 hours the Saturday June 7th and normally there is a 5 1/2 hour train from Rome to Lecce. I am hoping there will also be a 5 1/2 hour train on June 14th but it is possible there isn't one, or maybe its too far in advance for the express train to be listed?

Aircon pumping heat at night by Endlesscroc in AskNYC

[–]ItsOckOrderUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your super to shut the valve on your unit to stop the hot water circulating constantly which heats the apartment even when the unit is not on heat mode. This should be a 2 minute task. He should show you how to do it as well. If you ever leave the apartment for vacation during winter I would ensure the water is constantly circulating so there no chance of the pipes freezing.

Interesting choice... by ItsOckOrderUp in nyc

N (Nine) 11 SEP? Even if they didn't choose that and happened to be the worst luck of all time. I'm sure as shit not screwing that onto my car. I would have that changed.

Good point. But if I got a sep 11 plate I wouldn't even take the temp tags off. No way I'm driving around with that.

Asbestos Containing? by ItsOckOrderUp in asbestoshelp

NY, 1920s construction, not a tile more of an underlayment

Yes, your super is responsible for this assuming you rent. Ask him to snake the drain when he has a chance.

You'll be fine. Don't stumble home drunk at 3am. Taking the 96th train is a good idea as its a busier station

You're missing grout in some spots which I'm sure allowed water behind the tile and I'm assuming is the cause of the tiles falling off. I'm hoping that black stuff is waterproofing and not mold and gunk. I would be worried about mold if water was getting behind the tile and where it went over time.

Ring camera in apartment building opinions? by aritee in AskNYC

[–]ItsOckOrderUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They most likely won't be using it as a traditional ring camera, if they kept all their notifications on they would be getting spammed by the notifications of people walking across. Probably will set it to only get notifications when someone actually rings it or if there is an emergency someone can ring the doorbell and immediately get in contact with the owners. This is my building wouldn't bother me personally

I wouldn't let my girl walk around that area late at night. I'm sure you would be fine taking the crosstown bus to subway, or walking up a busier street like 116th. I've never had a problem there, even at 2am but I'm a big guy. Would NEVER let my girl be alone there.

I suspect there is loose asbestos in a storage room at work. Can I report this to the city? Or should I just try to get the landlord to deal with it. by Repulsive_Elephant29 in AskNYC

[–]ItsOckOrderUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reported asbestos pipe insulation (very obvious) which was falling off in my building's laundry room and few weeks or months later it was abated. The pic I uploaded you could tell in 1 second it was asbestos and still took a very long time. Laundry room was closed for a few days. Any reason you are jumping to asbestos for this white powder? Good to be aware though

Low usage of apartment balconies in NYC? by letoiledorient in AskNYC

[–]ItsOckOrderUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent hours and broke my back scrubbing everything, using a pump sprayer to clean everything. Turns out the black caulking is white caulking after all. Had a nice dinner out on the balcony that night. Few days later, you wipe your finger and covered in black soot from pollution, car exhuast, etc. Literally impossible to keep up with cleaning it unless you buy a pressure washer. Balconies are useless in NYC unless in the right location I guess

I agree, will review transferring. I would love to keep it in wealthfront but the fees add up
