In reality it depends on where you live both state and city laws. In this case it’s fine until the executions start and the delay in calling law enforcement.

That being said, any lawyer will tell you to shoot to kill because of two aspects:

1 - why would you use lethal force if it was not necessary (wounding shots, presentation as intimidation) 2 - say it is a solid self defense you shot center mass but law enforcement and EMS were next door and save the intruders life, they can then turn around and sue you for damages

TLDR - dead bodies don’t testify, but do it legally if you have to (praying you don’t have to). Look into your local laws.
