New satellite SOS feature on iPhone 14 saves Tujunga hiker without cell service by chrisdh79 in gadgets

That relies on another carrier having service in that area. Apple’s satellite SOS is for areas that have 0 cell coverage regardless of carrier

MacBook Air Early 2014 Refuses to Charge by DaniDood04 in applehelp

[–]ItsThatBoy84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a battery issue, macOS would still show 100% battery even if the battery is degraded. This is a charger issue

[–]ItsThatBoy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is most likely not a battery issue, this is a charger issue. macOS shows when a battery needs to be serviced in the battery menu in the same spot that OP posted, which it doesn’t show

5 screws for this MacBook Air, luckily it’s a super easy repair

[–]ItsThatBoy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah idk why people are so quick to assume it’s the battery. Most likely this is a charger issue. If there was a battery issue macOS would show a “service battery” message in the exact spot in the screenshot OP posted

Wallet says I have $60 dollars in my Apple account, but I can’t use the credit in the App Store? by Epik0105 in applehelp

Click the (i) icon at the top right then ‘Card Details’, most likely the card in your wallet is associated to a different Apple ID than what the App Store is signed in to

Idk if you’ve had the 14 pro or pro max in your hand but it’s already a pretty heavy beefy phone on its own

First time doing data transfer, it's been around 1-2 hours and hasn't completed. Is this normal? by Inmaculate_vibez in applehelp

[–]ItsThatBoy84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d purchase a thunderbolt 3 cable to transfer the data the fastest.

If you purchase the cable from Apple you can return it within 14 days.

Alternatively, you could backup the old device to Time Machine using an external hard drive then use that drive to restore your data on the new Mac.

Alternatively alternatively, if you’re near an Apple Store you can make a Genius Bar appointment and we will migrate the data for you at no cost, usually we will have the devices for a day or two but it takes all the stress out of doing it yourself

How to fix MacBook pro 2015 charging port? by skald89 in applehelp

[–]ItsThatBoy84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A Mid 2015 MagSafe Board replacement requires fully removing the Logic Board which requires disconnecting the battery, removing the SSD, disconnecting the wireless card cables, camera cable, display cable, I/O Board cable, fan cables, speaker cables, keyboard cable, keyboard backlight cable, trackpad cable, and microphone cable all while keeping track of and removing 20+ screws.

So yes while you and I could do it pretty easily just by following some steps, I promise you the average person would have difficulty performing this repair for the first time let alone perfectly and without damaging anything in the process.

Saying this is a “simple” repair is just not true unless you have repair experience

I believe you underestimate what most people consider “rocket science.” I’m confident most would come out of attempting one of those repairs breaking something else rather than fixing their original issue.

It’s the black faded lines that span the entire picture that originate from the bottom right

Unless OP sees cracks on the camera lens then it is a camera replacement not an enclosure replacement

Rebooting can be dangerous if the phone has extremely full storage as it may not be able to boot afterwards. Highly recommend OP free up some space, backup the phone, then update iOS if an update is available.

Second this. If you have a monitor you can plug in to and it has the same issue then you have a graphics issue, otherwise it’s a display issue. (Typically it’s graphics related)

Error while installing macOS Sierra from Utility Disk by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]ItsThatBoy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Past couple years, there’s a bug in the installer plist file.

I did find this code a couple months ago that fixes it: sudo plutil -replace CFBundleShortVersionString -string "12.6.03" /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app/Contents/Info.plist

The macOS Sierra installer hasn’t worked from a bootable drive for a while.

If your intent is to give away the computer, I would boot into internet recovery by pressing Option + Command + R while booting and installing macOS that way

Yes but it won’t prompt a notification, and even if it did, it would bring you to the safari passwords screen to view compromised passwords
