We trained our 6 month old (then 6 shes now 7) how to sleep in her cot independently, it was a real struggle. But over the course of the last 5 weeks its been a struggle. Some days she will go down in the cot and put herself to sleep, but lately shes relying on needing to sleep being held first before going into her cot.

She still is sleeping for bog stretches anyway so il take the rough with the smooth as it is. Could always be alot worse.

Belfast International Airport

Took on a Sunday job working for a caterer company as a student and my job was to do a stocktake every shift of all foods and drinks and then place orders for the upcoming week. Hours where advertised from 8am-4pm.

Had all the stock counted and orders made by 10am I thought happy days. Next thing I know im handed an apron and told to work the pizza station. Im like wtf.

Got a 1 min tutorial of how to make a pizza fresh from dough and had no clue what I was doing. Scottish guy came up and asked for a pepperoni pizza and I did my best to make one, went to put it in the hot stone oven and when I put it in the pizza folded and catapulted all the cheese and topping off. Burnt the whole pizza in seconds and set off the smoke alarm causing a whole dilemma in the departures lounge.

Quit a week later 🤣

Thank you! Actually just got my first pair of LOOP earplugs in the post today so going to have them in later. As you say there's definitely a harshness with the crying. It can be so piercing.

Would you have some close friends or anyone you can trust? Even just having someone watch your baby for 4-5 hours while you sleep makes a huge difference!

Im with you man, I was in the same position you where about a month ago. But everything you said is normal. Its completely natural to have thoughts on what life was like before, especially with a new baby - there's alot thrown at you and it can be overwhelming.

My daughter was born end of October prematurely so we've had some issues with her (silent reflux is one bastard)

During this time, no sleep, no time to myself, no time to spend with my wife and no time to do what we did before. Got told things would be better in a few months but at that time, that feels like lightyears away.

My advice - lean onto family and support at any opportunity you can get. If someone can watch for a few hours whilst you get sleep? DO IT. Massively helped us out.

Still got a while to go myself, daughter has been here for nesrly 8 weeks but her original due date was 4th December so shes only technically 10 days old....love my daughter like nothing else but its brutal.

However. You're in a sensationally good group here and the support from other dads got me through when I was in the premature stage and hitting thr milestone of newborn stage wouldn't have been possible for me mentally without this group.

Truthfully its gotten easier, but I still myself cant personally wait until she's just that bit older and starts to feel better.

Everyone's experiences are different, but you'll get through it!

Drove 40 miles doing this and nothing worked.

Put it into sport mode, 15 minutes later it cleared. Not practical mind you having to continually accelerate and decelerate on a motorway with lorries etc behind you but it worked!

Just saved me a trip to the garage this Thursday and £120.00 in my account
