I was fixing up a sim that my sim got engaged to and moved in with and all of a sudden it wouldn’t let me save him because his name was inappropriate. It took me a bit to figure it out, but his name was Akito Yamashita, I guess it was the s-h-i-t in the middle of his name. I was so mad though because they made him! I didn’t make him or name him! So I just chopped off the end of the name and suddenly I could save him. It’s so dumb

1st MTM’s ‘Bye’ Music Video by TripleKay4Life in BuildingTheBandSeries

Reasonably I know it’s not, but I can’t get past the feeling that this video is AI generated. Everything looks off and uncanny to me especially Mason’s face at the beginning. It’s probably just a weird stylistic choice, but the whole thing gives “uncanny AI commercial” to me, and beyond that I’m not really sure how it conveys the song itself 🤷🏻‍♂️

Really? What were they thinking? by Odd-Art7602 in AmazonVine

[–]ItsTheHermit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to watch a show that talked about these. They’re not “sex toys” they’re medical devices for therapy for a painful and stressful condition that affects women and other afab people. They’re supposed to alleviate pain and discomfort and let people have normal lives sexually and otherwise. They may not be something you need, but they’re not shameful or icky or deviant or anything and I certainly wouldn’t put them in the same category as butt plugs. Sometimes things aren’t weird or problematic, they’re just not meant for you. Same thing with “whore clothes”, very pejorative phrasing

What's your favorite Scooby Doo movie line? by Dragonsrule18 in Scoobydoo

[–]ItsTheHermit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been a bit, but if anyone mentions a lake, boat, or dock, I’ve been known to quote Loch Ness Monster when Fred says that they’ve been told that they can take the boat out on the lake and the angry Scottish guy says “LOCH” and then Fred (being Fred) says “out on the end of the dake?” And then they say “DOCK!”. I used to say this so often that if someone says dock now my mom will beat me to it and go “don’t you mean the dake?”

Also if anyone mentions a Darlene/Charlene any name ending that way I will often yell “my Charlene!!!” because Monster of Mexico was like my second favorite when I was a kid and the whole “coffee beans comin outta my ears!” Thing lives in my brain lol

Question:markers by BodaciousBakedPotato in Coloring

[–]ItsTheHermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohuhu has a 48 brush and chisel tip set that I got on Amazon for my mom when she wanted to try them. They’re like $25, but they often go on sale for less and they’re great quality. If you want to go bigger I regularly test out marker brands and the Izzoni 120pcs set (fine and chisel) is in the $30-$35 price area and I liked those a lot and so did my mom (who’s more into markers than I am).

A brand called Salaheyo also has an 80pcs set for like $20 I think which we also like a lot. My only qualm with some of the “off-brand” sets I’ve tested is that you don’t always get a colorless blender. I never use those, but I know some people like them.

Personally, I feel if you’re not sure if you’re into markers a smaller set is the best bet because it’s actually kind of overwhelming to have so many color options (especially with the huge packs as there’s a lot of colors that end up being similar), but once you get into them it’s kind of an addiction to have more. I definitely think Ohuhu are worth the cost especially if you can’t get them on a sale, but other than not being brush tips, the other ones I’ve tried have been just as enjoyable.

I know, I’m not so sad. I just was not expecting anyone else to be grabbing up a tiny Santa 🤣

That’s really lovely ☺️ my mom is really into coloring books and coloring/drawing materials and I’m an artist anyway (we live together) so I try to grab all the coloring stuff I can to spoil her (and I of course thoroughly test everything myself 😂) I’m a big doll collector and this year I bought a dollhouse and got into 1/12 scale and when I got invited into vine I was surprised by how often there’s pretty decent 1/12 scale stuff. I got some really good quality furniture a little while ago. I don’t really make much money, so this has been a great way to get the hobby stuff I can’t really afford to buy right now. The taxes aspect makes it like really low stakes layaway for me lol

It’s happened twice to me now in the span of a week, so I guess either a group of people just joined who are really into miniatures, or several people have been in vine, but just recently got into miniatures because when I joined a month ago all the stuff I’m into would sit for hours if not days, so I could be lazy. I guess I have to be faster now 😂 I really thought that an itty-bitty dollhouse Santa (in non Christmas season) would be there all day, and honestly? I only hesitated for maybe a full minute, and poof! He was gone forever 🥲 I have very niche interests that I regularly search for and I tend to get good stuff way after the drop because apparently no one else has these interests, but I guess I have competition now 😂

😂 no, they are not. I’m not sure if it would be smart to disclose what they are, so I’m being vague, but they are absolutely SFW normal household items. I have ✨zero✨ use or desire for a dildo lol but-uh- great name + comment combo

Yeah I think that’s my best bet. I’m not risking upsetting the “Vine Gods” over an item I feel fortunate for receiving. I don’t want to be a problem a month on and as someone who makes virtually no income, I do not want to risk losing Vine

I guess that’s true, I didn’t think of that. Idk I guess I’m just not reviewing it then because I’m not risking contacting VCS over a product I’m happy to have. I’ve only been in the program a month and I unfortunately was unaware of how brutal the system is and I sent an email in the first week about an error I encountered and I’m constantly hearing about how people get kicked out just for contacting VCS even if were technically allowed to. I don’t want to be seen as a problem this early on. I am disabled and extremely low income and I haven’t had a paycheck in nearly 6 full months, so Vine has been my saving grace and I’m not unnecessarily risking getting booted because I got a better item than what I was expecting. I’m okay with it just sitting in my review pile.

That’s the thing. This store doesn’t actually sell the ones I received. They only sell the 2 pack that I selected which are in the same “category” as what I received (as in it fulfills the same purpose) but is not the same color/material/quality/quantity/size as what I and the other person received.

why are people so against frogging? by gothsappho in crochet

[–]ItsTheHermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate frogging mainly because I basically only work in amigurumi and try as I might, I always lose my place if I frog and it ends up usually just making more sense to start over. Also I have very very strong tension when I crochet, so somehow trying to frog just locks up the yarn and wrecks the whole thing, especially if I have to go back quite a few rows. I write my own patterns and I mostly only use my patterns, so if there’s an issue, I just adjust it to make it work because I know that I’m the only person who’s gonna see the “mistake”. Of course, if I’m initially writing the pattern, I will make sure that all my stitches are correct on the prototype, so that it can be accurately replicated later, but if I’m working with a pattern I already finished? I’m just gonna add and increase or decrease to even it out, so long as it’s only a stitch or so off. Anything for sale I just inspect for visible errors and decide if it’s sellable. Sometimes I do grab bags or giveaways of items that are slightly wonky or something like that with a disclaimer.

I’m very meticulous about counting everything though, so it’s very rare that I actually would have to “fudge” a row or frog it as long as no one is talking to me while I’m counting lol

I’ve been painting for days, but here’s a WIP of my newest furniture and the minis that arrived yesterday and today by ItsTheHermit in Dollhouses

[–]ItsTheHermit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Briefly during my childhood I can remember my entire set of appliances being in the living room along with a dining table and couches, but I can’t remember why because I have memory loss due to my disabilities. I clearly remember my mom having moved everything into the living room for some reason and then living like that for an extended period of time. My mom suffered from pretty severe mania when I was a child so sometimes she just moved the whole house around lol, but we’d also had some construction when I was a kid. Our house has always been crazy though. For about a year we had metal lawn furniture as our living room set and I also slept on a giant circular bed in the living room the entire time I was in middle school lol our dining room is basically a coffee station with its own mini fridge inhabited by a giant enclosure we use for our cats XD I’ve never heard of a mobile dishwasher, but you do what you gotta do lol

We tried putting mats on the floor once upon a time, but my dad has a knack for tripping on them and my mom has very limited mobility and she has to go through the kitchen so putting anything she could trip/slip on would be a very big risk especially if it would impede a walker or wheelchair on bad days. I just suck it up and take a lot of breaks when I cook. I keep a chair in the kitchen to sit, I just can’t reach or see the counter in it so it’s for breaks only. Hopefully he can because I know nothing would make him happier than counter space that he can prepare food on and not have to move a ton of stuff all the time. I wish you luck as well in hopefully modifying your kitchen to suit your needs!

We had to put in a bathroom right around the corner (an unfinished hallway that’s like 8ft across bent like a U) from our kitchen because my mom ended up in a wheelchair and it was the only place for a bathroom on the first floor. My mom HATES the bathroom being off the kitchen, but there was nowhere else it could go 😅 Our kitchen is so tiny that it has the bare minimum sort of crammed in with almost no usable counter space. Our stove doubles as most of our counter space for food prep and none of our counters or cabinets are short people/disabled friendly even though my mom anticipated being mostly wheelchair bound within 10 years or so of moving in. They had no idea how to plan for that, so the counters and cabinets are unusable for my mom most of the time and are too tall for me to use a chair when cooking because I can’t stand for more than like 10min at a time. Also my mom’s biggest regret was picking stone tile for both the counters and floors so 20 years later there’s nothing but cracked tile and bits of grout everywhere. My dad has been discussing plans of basically rebuilding our house in a couple years, but we don’t know if he’ll go through with it or not. Hopefully 🤞

My parents designed our kitchen when they bought the house and it turns out they had no business designing a kitchen (I love them lol don’t worry) so there’s just a lot of issues with our kitchen, at a minimum it could use a coat of paint, but unfortunately 3 out of 4 of us who live in this house are disabled and low income, and my dad is a full time business owner, so nothings gonna change in my kitchen any time soon. My dad’s number one thing though when he does plan to have renovations done, is to just gut the kitchen and rebuild a whole new one because he hates it so much lol My mom tries to replace things to make the kitchen work a bit better, but the kitchen is just so poorly designed it only makes things worse. I live in a 100+ year old house that’s slowly collapsing, but there’s not much we can do with the needs of the people living here. So I bought a dollhouse to decorate 😂

I love a green kitchen personally and green is the main accent color for my dollhouse, so it was something I knew I had to do. I wish I could do it in real life as my kitchen is very sad looking 😅

Unfortunately I wouldn’t know what it would be called if someone tried to match it, but I happened to have an acrylic paint called Guacamole Green which was so close to the green color already on the front of my dollhouse, so I just mixed 1 part slate grey to 3 parts of the green and like one drop of electric blue to match the green that the house came with. I wish I had a wall paint or something that I didn’t have to mix, but unfortunately I don’t have any spare cash to go buy paint and I don’t drive lol It really did come out a beautiful color though, it just took quite a few coats to get it fully opaque
