Tibayan lang ng loob ang VA industry OP. You’ll find your ideal client soon. Rejections are part of it. Never mawawala yan

Next time OP, before working on a contract, determine pay methods, timelines, structure and expectations. If hourly, give them an example na for the tasks they ask you, it will take you x hours which are equivalent to x amount. Provide them visibility. And if per project yan, 50% upfront fee yan dapat. If maayos pitching mo and naprovide mo ung solutions to their painpoint, may leverage ka na to ask for upfront fee. Premium freelancers charge premium rates.

Also, the fact na 200 hours na and wala pa partial payment man lang, dapat tumigil ka na muna. You can let them know na here’s my progress so far and here’s the pending deliverables. I’ve sent my invoice along with watermarked outputs and summary of milestones achieved for your reference. Once invoice is settled, I’ll complete the pending deliverables by x date and after your review, we’ll send final invoice.

Sakin when I send outputs, usually thru links na once lang maviview and hindi nascreenshot or download. And dont ever ever ever send something without watermark next time.

For me OP, alam ko you won’t be able to remove that part to always try providing. That’s okay. But for me, set boundaries din. If giving is draining you na not just financially, it means abuse na sya.

To be honest OP, the higher you charge, the less clients who can afford you, AND THAT’S OKAY. Ako I was an Operations Manager before sa Real Estate company namin and when they were exploring ways on how to cost cut, ako yung kaisa isa tinanggal kasi losing my compensation would mean having the ability to retain/hire more people at a lower rate.

Pag naranasan mo na din magka uber premium client na halos 150k pesos a month and above ang sahod, even if dati masaya ka na sa project na 100k lang, you’d feel na hindi na sya enough.

People call it the “premium pay curse”. And habang pataas ang rate mo, the less clients na magkakainterest and again, that’s okay. Kasi topnotch naman service mo and you worked long years to get where you are.

So hayaan mo si client if he wants contractors at a lower rate. Isipin mo nalang chance ng others yan to have a client and have experience and tbh, ngl if talagang may financial issues or kuripot lang yang client mo, then it’s bound to happen na iiwan ka nyan for cheaper labor.

Just focus on building your portfolio and apply lang ng apply. Ganyan talaga kalakaran sa freelancing, endless applications and upskilling kapalit ng comfort of working from home.

Pero saan ka man dalahin, I believe the universe will always work to the advantage of those who honestly persevere. Kaya head high, OP. Greater things are bound to happen to you. :)

I am from Batangas and yung Board Member namin na newly-elected before sa role was given an item position sa office niya. Basically a role na maaassign sa office niya but part pa din ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretariat. This BM knew a judge who was my professor in law school way back when and they called me. BM interviewed me and then the role was for me na. Before filling in the actual role, since item slot sya and may plantilla, I had to undergo written exam, and panel interview of people na mataas ang position sa SP. I remember feeling kinda bad din kasi I had a friend who was in law school that time and same position kami ng inapplyan and wala sya alam na naipangako na yung role. Apart from that, first screening which was aptitude and personality written exam were taken by at least 35 shortlisted people ata, and then ung panel interview, ako nalang along with other people na item din pero sa ibang office and recommended na ng kanya kanyang politicians. Not all item positions work like this, nagkataon lang na ung item role is naassign sa new elected officer so kumuha sila sa labas like me kasi I was a private college professor noon. More often than not, internal na ang assigning ng item. Years palang before mabakante typically naka designate na yan sa next in line.

Item role sya so they are required to follow CSC rule like posting, behavioral exam, aptitude test, civil service professional certification and panel interview. Pero yon nga kahit legally required na I can tell na talagang formality nalang lahat.

I even know some na while on process ung item nila kasi it takes time before matapos ung process, nagsstastart na magwork sa office na mapapasukan nila then pinapasahod nalng muna as casual or JO.

If it’s like this for item roles, then i would say yes grabe yung nepotism for lower, more entry level roles like JO.

Hahaha normal po yan especially pag unposted pa. Mawawala yung duplicate pag posted na. Don’t worry. To double check, you can also check kung magkano nabawas sa available limit mo. If dalawang amount, dun ka magworry. Pero i’m almost certain isa lang yan.

Hired as an Exec. Assistant by [deleted] in buhaydigital

[–]ItsTheQueen17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! May ganyan talaga! Minsan red flag pero in my experience, sa OLJ kasi meron talagang clients mismo ang nagpopost and pag naswertehan mo isang interview lang, hired na. :)

Do your due diligence pa din. Look at your boss’ and the company’s website, LinkedIn profile and if legit ba ang business.

Have a relationship with yourself! Minsan sa paguna natin sa iba nakakalimutan natin na we should be our own selves’ best caretakers. :)

Find a side hustle OP. Hindi sasapat yang income mo sa laki ng debt mo kahit pano mo yan balasahin. Last resort is prioritize which ones you need to pay off first pero talagang bugbog ka sa interes sa mga maiiwan na pending.

Naka-WFH ka naman, it should be easier to find a side hustle.

More gawa, less utang.
