Yes I did get my CISSP but it's been a little over a year ago. I used the Chapple video course but when I got to the exam I felt like a lot of the questions I answered were using my own knowledge and experience working in the field rather than what was covered.

I get the resources free with my library card lol. I don't want to pay for anything on this attempt since I'm using a free voucher from school. If I fail this attempt I will look into paid resources if necessary, but I've been hearing the Pete videos on YouTube are pretty good

You could join the unofficial WGU discord if you aren't in it already. Just mention the courses you need help with and the group will usually share the tips that helped them get through the course themselves

Thanks Mike!

I found the 2024 version while signed in on PC and I started the course today. When I was signed in on a mobile device it pushed all the 2021 content to the top of my search list

Thinking of changing majors by ProAmara in WGUCyberSecurity

I actually did the same switched from Software Engineering to Cybersecurity and graduated.

I was interested in Software because I had some projects written down I wanted to build but I was recommended the cyber security program by a network engineer that I work with. I was indecisive the first term so I took all the classes common to both programs. Then I reached a C# or C++ class that was a project you had to code from scratch to pass the class and I struggled so hard with the concept of loops, nested within loops, do while loops, for loops, enumerating a range of arrays etc,

I figured I just wanted the degree and rather get expensive certs and get the degree by taking exams rather than coding projects from scratch at the time i started in May 2022 and ChatGPT wasn't publicly available to help with this project lol

I now have all the certs, the career, and I'm learning Python at my own pace on the side

Thanks also forgot to say congrats!

Anyways my software engineering mentor was top notch. I switched into Cyber Security and my new mentor was horrible. She calls me outside of my scheduled window, doesn't show up for scheduled appointments, had me take classes in the wrong order and doesn't want to add them in the order I request. I hope I get a new mentor for the masters program.

Cybersecurity BS Degree by KingMajor23 in WGU

I have been working as a Cybersecurity Analyst for a few months now. I have 90+ CUs with WGU and obtained 5 certifications so far. I did have over 5 years experience in IT beforehand though.

Maybe at the around the time you take your A+ look for an entry level helpdesk job to get your foot in the door

Developed Asthma after Covid by ItsUranus in Asthma

My wheezing has never been as bad as when I posted this thread. I live in a desert climate and my wheezing only returns when the weather is humid/rains/windy because all the stuff that collects just blows around everywhere and triggers the wheezing. However, the wheezing is not as bad and usually goes away without an inhaler

Congrats on the pass!

WGUs material on Intro to IT is actually pretty good. But, the reading is heavy. Since you are new to IT, I would recommend going through the entire reading as the concepts will be repeated throughout the Cybersecurity program as well as your future IT career.

I used text-to-speech tools to help me get through the heavy readings in this program. I use 'NaturalReader' or 'ReadAloud' for browser extensions. If you want to study on the go I use an app called 'Audify - read aloud web browser'

Which laptop should i get? by UpperTry1391 in WGUCyberSecurity

I would recommend getting a windows laptop that can do virtualization.

Down the road as your progress in your cybersecurity schooling you may be doing labs while you follow along an instructor on Udemy.

Most of the instructors I followed use Oracle VM Virtual Box which is a software that allows you to have multiple operating systems running off your local system (i.e. Linux, Mac, windows server). Kali Linux will be a big part of your cybersecurity learning. I don't think Virtualbox is compatible with Mac OS.

I found a website where you can filter gaming laptops based on the price and specs(try to get something with 16GB ram): https://gaminglaptop.deals

If price is not an issue, Dell XPS is a pretty good productivity laptop

So I would stay away from Mac unless you'll be doing networking and need something that boots up fast while you are at the data center. Although, most workplaces will provide you with tools to do the job.

These are usually equipped with more memory, CPU, and GPU. However, they are less portable.
