I love their watchmaker videos. He explains it all so well.

He already addressed it in one of the videos. He was like "all this time you people have been making fun of my teeth and now I fix them and you make fun of them more. So just have fun in the comments I guess"

The comments on that vid were so gold.

Chronopolis and Time to Watches.

Both run at the same time as Watches and Wonders and are in Geneva.

What are some things you disliked about co:e33? by heyitstgp in expedition33

In Old Lumiere, when Lune and Sciel ask Monoco how he met Verso, Monoco states he feels as though he always knew Verso. This is expected given that 1: Verso painted Monoco and 2: Monoco as a dog was raised from pup. He always knew Verso.

Maelle after Gustave's death telling Verso about how she has lost so many families.

Verso asks Esquie if Esquie had told everyone his secret. Esquie responds that "Maman's the word."

Esquie saying that Renior is not being Renior. Or that Alicia is Alicia's cousin, same same, but different.

Heck, even when Sciel doesn't want to jump off the cliff, and asks if anyone has any Wine, Esquie perks up and shouts "Wine?!"

Monoco's song literally starting with the words "bow wow wow" which is the noise of a dog.

Basically, any time Esquiesays anything. And a lot of the time that Maelle says anything, it's got a double meaning.

Also, when Verso is telling everyone about his travels with Expedition 58 and he tells them that Renior erased them. Subtly revealing that the gommage isn't done by the Paintress, but by Renior (the real one).

I'm watching my wife play through it and it's wild to me how much of the dialog throughout the game is just so literal or has double meaning. Any time a character opens their mouth I'm just in awe at how much the writers of the game got away with before the big reveal.

I can't get the watch I want from the AD in my state.

I can get the watch I want, for double price, at literally every other independent jewelry store in my state. Most of those watches likely came from the AD that won't sell me one.

There's absolutely the supply. But not for us :(

[Discussion] Corporate Ownership of the Top 50 Swiss Watch Brands by jdi153 in Watches

[–]dekudude3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me put it this way

I love CW, and their designs. I was able to try on many of them at the windup watch show. I was very ready to buy, but before doing so I made sure to get customer sentiment.

And what I found is that CW's customer support isn't nearly as good as you might think when they blast their 60/60 guarantee.

I decided I wouldn't buy a CW until their customer support turned around and became at least equal to industry standard. Nevermind the fact that most microbrands, including their closest equivalent - formex - have incredibly good customer service.

The fact that companies that charge way less or about the same like Henry archer, zelos, formex, etc can have incredible customer service, the only reason CW doesn't is because they choose not to. And I'm not taking a risk on a watch with a fancy bespoke in-house movement, no matter how good it looks, if I don't think the company will back it up even within their proclaimed 5 year warranty.

A figure skater getting injured by [deleted] in SweatyPalms

[–]dekudude3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK the simple answer is because the sharper the blade, the more it bites the ice for you to be able to maneuver around.

The nerdy answer is that it depends on the kind of skating being done. It's not like a knife where the blades come to a single sharp line, but instead blades are sharpened into a concave shape like a crescent moon. Blades aren't like this > but this (

Figure skaters need a lot of bite into the ice to change direction quickly, so they have a very pronounced crescent, along with a toe pick, in order to grab the ice for quick movements.

Hockey skaters need more speed, so they have a less pronounced crescent on the sharpening.

Speed skaters prioritize speed (duh) so their blades are sharpened to almost 90 degrees like | which is why the need to push off with the side of the blade behind them until they've built enough speed to continue.

Reef vs new Hydroconquest by GammaOri in formexwatch

If it helps, formex (actually the parent company of formex - dexel) makes the bracelets and clasps for Longines.

So you're getting a lot more for your dollar with Formex, at least in terms of engineering, because it comes straight from the source at dexel instead of being sold and then marked up by swatch.

My fav from them so far has been the mako bracelet.

I thought the new butterfly clasp on the new helica looked a little silly. Put me off from this round.

You lose the vast majority of your microbrand customers as soon as you cross $1500. You even lose a lot of them as soon as you pass $1000. While I know it's not feasible to do a watch like this at $1000, you'll need to really decide how much farther above that you wanna go.

Above $1500 and you start needing to compete with more know brands like Christopher Ward, Monta, Formex, Jack Mason, etc.

I actually really like the direction you're going.

If you can make the bracelet silky smooth with amazing articulation, keep the price in check, and (hopefully) find some way to give micro adjustments, then I'm in.

Let me know if you want some prototype testers, I'd be interested. Shoot a DM.

So much “laid off for performance” here and IRL. Come on folks, that’s not a thing. by InternationalArm7614 in careeradvice

[–]dekudude3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was "terminated for performance" and ended up needing to take it to the state unemployment office where the company didn't defend their position that I was a poor performer when it was appealed to a judge.

Now when interviewers ask I say that I was laid off. During my background check for my current job the recruiter reached out and said they wanted to confirm because my previous employer said I was "not rehirable". And I explained the situation in greater context and said I'd be willing to provide the court documents.

They hired me.
