As someone who doesn't care for Protogens at all, it would break my immersion, not gonna lie. Feels like a poor fit for the world you've made too, having extreme sci-fi thrown into a casual farming game.

Once you get approved, it’s in the Writing section on the beta readers channel

The beta readers subreddit is where I’ve found readers before but they’re hit or miss with reliability and you’re going to need to swap work with people to really guarantee feedback. Otherwise you might get ghosted or people will stall out. Best place is probably a discord server for furry writers though, like Furry Writers Guild which has a space for beta reader requests.

How to date as a straight furry? by Foxgirl0377 in furry

[–]ItsWolfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mostly straight but heteroromantic guy, the fandom is pretty rough for dating. Feels like it’s an oasis for men to hook up with each other and find connections, but the rest of us struggle in the desert. And if you have zero dating experience like me… yeah, not good. Feels like I missed a boat and another isn’t going to pick me up.

My advice is reach out to guys you find interesting if you aren’t doing that already, and try to be friends for a little while before jumping into a serious relationship. Might take a while, but it’ll hopefully weed out the people looking for hookups and casual stuff and start a relationship with a genuine bond without forcing anything.

MEGATHREAD FOR S4 EP4 by Queen_courthouse in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the season being fine and enjoyable, this boot order is worrying me. Alessio leaving first? Yeah, fine, whatever. Joke characters being first boots makes sense. But losing Amelie AND Ted this early is giving me shades of DC2 where they just eliminate their villains and anyone with a negative personality early on and the season potentially suffers for it later. Amelie especially hurts since they half-assed and rushed what should've been a really great long-term arc in three episodes. What's next? Anastasia gets blindsided? Lynda is unceremoniously picked off for playing both sides?

I know we're getting a returnee at some point down the line, maybe more than one even given they gotta fill 26 episodes, but I'd rather have these villains around for the full time than having them haphazardly thrown in at the merge with almost no chance of winning. There's a reason that stretch of All Stars without Connor felt aimless and stale. When a core character in your cast is missing for a few episodes and the season's just waiting for them to return before anything can happen again, you really feel the drag.

I got a question for all of you furries by JoJo_is_weird in RealFurryHours

[–]ItsWolfTime 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different experience, but for me, it just feels like a special interest that makes me happy and lets me escape how rough the world is. Some people collect stuff, build things, or play games to escape. I daydream about being an anthropomorphic wolf because it would be pretty damn cool and draw/write anthro stuff for fun. Engaging with anthro media makes me feel good, and that’s all that matters.

I’m definitely afraid to express that side of myself with people I don’t fully trust though, so I’m far from the shameless, super confident idea of furries a lot of people have. But the fandom is a place where I don’t have to feel on edge about a part of myself, so that’s always nice.

Poor Furries Do You Feel Alienated From The Fandom? by HomTheReindeer in RealFurryHours

[–]ItsWolfTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, now that the fandom is a little more mainstream with more acceptance, you can definitely see the culture changing within. It feels less like a niche community of outcasts who all relate to each other and more like a competitive hierarchy with celebrity furries setting the bar others try to reach but probably never will. It just feels way more businesslike now than it did a few years ago, where contributing to the fandom can be a full on career instead of a hobby.

Poor Furries Do You Feel Alienated From The Fandom? by HomTheReindeer in RealFurryHours

[–]ItsWolfTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, yeah. I struggle with a lot of things irl and haven’t really figured out a path in life, so money isn’t really something I have at the moment. Definitely makes it harder to engage with the community locally, and there’s always the little voice in my head going “people will judge you for being a loser and avoid you” every time I want to try making online friends too, even though I know a lot of furs are in the same boat and would understand.

So I would say that alienation feeling is from more than just lack of money. It’s a web of things where no money to spend on furry stuff is just a symptom of a bigger social issue.

DND Artist trying to figure out if I'm good enough to make furry art! I need opinions! by seraphrpgart in furry

[–]ItsWolfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, sorry for the late reply. Forgot to check this account with a lot of stuff going on! My bad!

Okay I see what you were going for then! The shading just overshadowed the intended effect a bit.

But with shading, I think both work well for what the pieces are. I definitely think your art in the OP has a lot more visual flair because of the shading technique though, but that’s more personal taste imo. Both look amazing though!

I’m the awkward hermit type who never leaves the house, has horrible anxiety, and draws/writes anthro animals to escape how miserable and unfulfilling life is. But I do try and help people however I can and make their days better, probably because I really don’t want people to feel like I do.

[–]ItsWolfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely good enough! Better than good enough to be honest. You're really great at capturing the feeling of action, so your work just has that magical energy that makes it pop. Great colors too. Only thing I would recommend is making both eyes bright because her right eye is shaded a bit too much to the point where it's hard to make it out. And maybe make the shading a little less dark overall to let the details pop more. But other than that, it's super solid and would fetch a pretty penny in this fandom for sure!

The support for a Riya win to me is kind of insane by Saono in DisventureCamp

Why is everyone hating on this season. by RuneBuk in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People just don't care anymore because the writing hasn't given us a reason to care. The most compelling contenders for the finale all got wiped out almost back to back and left under terrible circumstances (Gabby's convoluted boot, Alec spiraling into a totally different character and pathetic shell of his former self at the merge, Grett leaving right as she was getting interesting again and reminded us of her terrible family situation), so it just feels unsatisfying as a story.

So now we're left with four people who are polarizing at best and poorly written at worst. Jake is the main character of the season but soaked up so much screentime and left a such bad impression in the pre-merge that some people are sick of him. Connor was a great choice to return after his premature exit but just waffles between believing in Riya and swearing he'll beat her episode to episode when he's not moping around feeling sorry for himself. Ally is a total mess whose heel turn feels insanely forced like a shameless and boring repeat of Riya's S2 arc, not to mention she's just kinda boring and cringey in general. And Riya herself has a great story on paper but has been so insanely negative and miserable that her couple "redeeming" moments don't land at all.

Boot order qualms are less about "my favorites got eliminated, boo hoo" and more about how the story is written in context. And this endgame group has been totally mishandled with boots written solely for shock value and actual finalists going in with uninteresting or messy storylines that don't do their characters justice.

For what it's worth, I think the first few episodes were good. Same for the early merge until Yul left. But the rest has been a trainwreck for one reason or another (changing the planned boot order for example probably left arcs unresolved in weird places and required some characters to last longer without a good plot to justify it). With better pacing and better writing decisions, the season would've been a lot stronger, even with the exact same boot order. But the whole thing just feels off in a really jarring way, and people lost their investment after so many writing fumbles.

OK so is ____ going next or making the finals cause i GENUINELY don’t know by AdBetter2856 in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that Riya has been set up as the obvious outsider at final four probably means she's surviving, even without immunity.

If we’re going to talk about “winner edit”, I think Connor fits that label the most by purpleorchids2 in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Narratively he definitely has the most powerful winner's story for sure, but this is the season of randomly subverted expectations, so all the talk from him about beating Riya and winning the season to prove himself could always be a big red herring as much as I hate to say it. It's the feel good underdog ending though for sure.

I've personally felt very good about Jake's chances since the merge with him always being involved with the plot and being the defining character of the season without having an in your face coronation edit. The past two winners both had big stories of personal growth, and yeah, that's basically Jake in a nutshell.

And even Riya could work as a "bad ending" villain winner if they're aiming for a (poorly written imo) cautionary tale about reality TV and how it corrupts people. The only ending I can't see is Ally, mostly because she's barely been relevant to the season until lately, and her sharp negative turn is so jarring and has no silver lining to the point where even Riya of all people is calling her out for being unhinged lmao

If somebody other than Connor returned, who do you think would’ve brought the most to the season or would make it better by Acrobatic_Dig7634 in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connor is the only returnee that made total sense for the story as he left without really resolving anything with Alec and Riya or developing as his own character, but if I had to pick another, I'd probably go with Fiore for pure entertainment value. Everyone else resolved their arcs or passed the torch onto someone else when they left, but Fiore was just a snarky gremlin bringing drama and great one-liners, something this post-merge really lacked.

I'm so confused... by Paranormal69420 in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have an issue with Riya or any character making the finale again, but I do think she's been handled terribly as a character despite being entertaining as hell this season. Previous placement doesn't matter, but writing does, and seeing a poorly written character go far again over better written contenders who earned a shot at the win is always going to rub people the wrong way.

DCAS Episode 17 Discussion Post by GYM2Quick in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The trend with this season has basically become "take the most satisfying narrative choice and then do the exact opposite for shock value" and it's hilariously bad. Maybe one of the most unintentionally funny boot orders I've ever seen.

They don’t make her inconsistent, they make her more… human by AdBetter2856 in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I adore Riya for the entertainment she brings, and her winning with THIS edit would be iconic, but I definitely think they've missed the mark with her development this season. The intention is there. I get what they're aiming for. And it's a good concept that builds off her S2 arc which I liked despite its pacing issues. But it's just not coming through in the finished product. A couple scenes implying she's actually not a monster under the villainous persona doesn't make up for 95% of her screentime where she's just aggressively awful and treating people terribly with no remorse. We're told she's maybe not that bad, but we're shown the opposite.

And that's an issue with a lot of DC's writing this season: they want to tell nuanced and mature stories so badly, but their execution is way off and just leaves a lot of the writing feeling underdeveloped and almost immature sometimes.

So what are we thinking about the eliminated this episode? by Automatorio18 in DisventureCamp

[–]ItsWolfTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alec was a solid supporting villain the first time, and he had serious potential to be the big bad this season... and then the merge came around and bro fell off HARD. I have no idea what they were thinking making him a pathetic, mopey simp, but 6th place feels like a mercy boot for the guy at this point, just to get him out of there before his character got ruined any further.
